Fighter’s Stronghold DLC (for FREE!), Shivering Isles for PS3, and other Elder Scrolls happenings

First, I wanted to let you know that we are finally releasing the last piece of downloadable content we created for Oblivion. We had mentioned it a long, long time ago but we hadn’t released it, until now. Starting Monday, October 15 it will be available to download via Xbox Live (for Xbox 360) and elderscrolls.com (for PC). And, for one week, it will be free to anybody who wants to download it and play it. So mark it on your calendars and don’t forget.

Fighter’s Stronghold provides the last of four themed domiciles (along with Vile Lair, Thieves Den, and Wizard’s Tower) for the adventurer on-the-go. You inherit the rights to Battlehorn Castle, located on a lovely stretch of the Colovian Highlands, west of Chorrol. Dining Hall, barracks, wine cellar, training room, and your own private Shrine of Julianos. Update your castle furnishings, perhaps even a Dwemer Forge for the aspiring Armorer? Hire a taxidermist to tastfully decorate your new abode with trophies from your adventuring. You can read all about Fighter’s Stronghold here.

Since we’re talking about DLC, I thought I’d update you with what’s going on with the PS3 version of Oblivion. We are close, very close to working something out to bring Shivering Isles to PS3 owners. That may be in downloadable form via PSN, or as a standalone retail disc, or both. I can’t say definitively yet that it will happen, and I definitely can’t say when. But it’s looking good, and hopefully we’ll have good news soon. Don’t have anything I can tell you about any other DLC, but Shivering Isles is the one we get asked about all the time, so I at least wanted to update folks on that.

Next week sees the release of two other Elder Scrolls games. Shivering Isles Xbox 360 is coming to stores next week, so if you don’t have Xbox Live or waited to have your very own boxed copy, you’ll be able to pick that up next week in stores. The boxed copy of Shivering Isles does also come with Knights of the Nine as an added bonus. It does require a hard drive to play it, as well as the original Oblivion disc. If you don’t have original Oblivion, get the Oblivion Game of the Year Edition for Xbox 360 that came out a few weeks ago to get both in one box.

Also, Oblivion Game of the Year edition for PS3 is coming to stores next week. It includes Oblivion and the Shivering Isles expansion (plus Knights of the Nine, obviously, since that was included in original Oblivion PS3).

This is REALLY awesome news. Been waiting for the Fighter’s Stronghold for awhile. Hopefully you guys eventually find a way to get all remaining DLC (including this new one) onto PS3 somehow. If it were up to me, I’d love a disc version but I’ll take it any way I can get it.

Hey Pete

I want to express my frustration at not being able to get the complete oblivion experience in one package.

I am not happy with the download activation process for pc or how the plugins are locked to your 360 and that low quality hardware fails so often that when ultimately replaced you end up not being able to access your content properly or forced to repurchase your content.

I had hoped that the game of the year edition would include everything in one package, but thats unfortunately not the case.

I understand theres a comment been made that the reason the plugins were not included in the game of the year edition is because all the pop ups you’ll get right as you start… well I don’t care, I just want the content on disc and I don’t want to have to buy 3 or 4 boxes to get all the content.

I would like you to express to the man in charge that I have a desire to have all of the oblivion content in one package.

kind of off topic but do you have any comment on the supposed inaccuracies of the prima strategy guide? I certainly do not need a guide to play but its almost a tradition to buy TES guides if for no other reason to add to my pile of maps, guides and TES boxes… now that theres another plugin will there be a final revision to the guide?

As for the PS3 version I’m unaware if game install is supported? an all in one package that can be entirely installed on the PS3 hard drive would be a sweet deal.

I have never played oblivion and to find out that all downloadable content for it will be over is a sad thing. I guess i just have to play with all they have given us. Bethesda could have maid a never ending game but i gues life goes on as well as games for them. Fallout 3 better be good, if it isn’t i am going to be pissed. Bethesda you heard that, you better make be proud!!!

LC, there’s a lot of questions there.

We did not include all the DLC in GotY for a couple reasons, including keeping the pricing reasonable, and the fact that incorporating it all up front like that is not how it was intended to work. It’s not good enough that some folks may say “I don’t care if it’s not elegant or doesn’t work quite right.” We care and won’t release something that we feel is not going to be a good experience for the gamer.

We don’t control how DLC works with Live and your 360. I understand your frustrations, but we have no control over that process. We are using the one that is in place for that console, not inventing our own. The same is true for PS3, and so we deal with what we have to work with and do the best we can with it.

I understand from Prima the GotY edition was missing a number of the world maps that were supposed to be included. If you are one of the folks that bought these guides, contact Prima about getting the extra pages. Future versions should have the corrected pages.

Abtin, this stuff we’re talking about are the final versions we are releasing. Just like Morrowind GotY did not have any of the (free) plugins we did, Oblivion GotY will not include any other DLC either, now or in the future. We do not plan to release anything that includes all of the plugins on one disc, with or without the expansions, original game, etc.

Thank you for replying.

I certainly understand your point of view about providing the best experience for the gamer and I respect that, however, since you say the PS3 and Xbox 360 availability of said content has to be in line with what Sony and Microsoft have put in place what about PC versions?

For instance the knights of the nine expansion came with the plugins, could bethseda not release the plugin disk later? even exclusively through Bethesda online store, couldn’t that be an option?

My concern is that with the plugin installers not supporting 64 bit xp or any version of vista install how then do I make this content available to me so I can install it on my pc without being forced to run xp for ever?

I still play morrowind, so I don’t think expecting oblivion to be a game I still play in 3 or 4 years is unreasonable.

Its not about money either I’m not trying to simply get everything for free, I have 3 copies of morrowind and I purchased the collectors edition of oblivion for 360 I feel I am fair supporter of bethesda.

Ultimately what I want is to be able to acquire the content through a fair means and install and play with out the drm restrictions or hardware failure issues of consoles restricting access.

I am curious if you can provide an answer to this question as well, If I purchase the game of the year edition of oblivion for pc and the knights of the nine expansion can I install the plugins or would there be incompatibility?

I suppose the simply answer is to keep 32 bit xp and hope that the drm installs work, but Crysis and DX 10 are set to in my opinion not make that a simple solution.

I appreciate your understanding and I can appreciate your position but I think there needs to be better means by which you distribute content in the future, if anything the pc version should provide a far better alternative then is in place.

That said while I understand your need to make profit and protect yourself from piracy the current methods in place have seen to restrict me from acquiring these plugins and that has left me disappointed unfortunately.

I forgot to mention pete about the prima guide, I appreciate that info. I had herd about the missing pages but had not herd the resolution and was holding off.

I’ll look into that further and hopefully at a later date purchase a revised edition.

I would just like to say that the delay isn’t that big of a deal for the GOTY edition for PS3, but why no DLC on the PSN??? I’m not sure what the deal is with every PS3 game being delayed is but I truly hope that some kind of compromise can be made to make DLC on the PS3 a reality.

1 more question, will the GOTY take more room on the HDD than the orginal did for the PS3? The orginal was 4gig. If it takes just alittle more MB thats awesome! or is it gonna be more gigs?

I love epic single player RPG’s it often feels like there are too few.

This generation has been rough in my opinion.

I hope things will level out in favor of the consumer, it feels like were really getting worked this round with all this your all pirates and we need all your money nonsense going around.

I like Bethesda and do wish you guys the best. I just hope you can figure out a better way to get your content out in an unintrusive manner that will suit us both.

Okay maybe I missed it! But what is the reason that the PS3 has not received any DLC on the PSN for Oblivion yet? This is not fair that 360 and PC users are able to obtain these updates while PS3 gamers can not!!! Please tell me why there is no DLC for PS3….

I still remain very happy. In my pants. Maybe a little too much, despite that this is the last bit of downloadable content for Oblivion. Hopefully, Fallout 3 is as badass and fun as Oblivion and Morrowind have been- and I’m thinking it probablly will!

This sucks so much for me. Oblivion is my favorite 360 game but my console Red Ringed and I doubt it will be back in time for me to get this content for free.

This red ring thing is starting to really tick me off. I have three working Atari 2600’s from 30 years ago but my 360 didn’t last a year.

I’ll need to check with some folks at the office tomorrow, but I would imagine that GOTY would take more space than Oblivion, simply because Shivering Isles is approx. a 1GB download on its own.

Don’t buy another M$ console! I’m not. I’ve had 3 xbox 360’s do the RROD (red ring of death). That’s why I bought a trusty PS3! And I’m still waiting for DLC for Oblivion on the PS3. Did you hear this Pete????

For all you 360 gamers: how much space does the downloadable content take up individually? For example how big is Vile Lair? Or the Wizard’s Tower? Better yet how much space do ALL the plug-ins take up combined? Please don’t include KOTN or Shivering Isles…I am a PS3 owner and will be purchasing the GOTY. I’m just trying to get a good idea of how much hard drive space the remaining DLC will take up if/when its ever released on my system. Thanks in advance!

Me and my girlfriend really hope that the PC DLC will be released on such format that can be installed on our Vista Ultimate 64bit.

As long time fans of Elder Scrolls we reserved the Collector’s Edition early, and bought every single DLC on our older machine. We even upgraded our PC to this new machine in order to play Oblivion even better

You can imagine our grief when we realized that the stupid copyprotection system did not work on 64bit Vista. Thankfully Knights of the nine with the previous DLC:s. was also released on disc – without the Macrovision crap.

Hey thanks for trying to get us PS3 people Shivering Isles on PSN. I heard rumors it was never coming out so I’m very glad to know it actually is. Hopefully, all the other ones like the Fighter’s Stronghold are coming out, too, and I don’t mind paying although the other guys are getting them for free.

Mike/Joseph/et al, GotY only includes Oblivion, Knights, and Shiv Isles. It does NOT include any other DLC. Just those three things. Space required is 5400 MB for PS3 version.

Vile Lair is not available in territories with localized versions of Oblivion…France, Germany, etc. I don’t know if that will change or not.

Hear you loud and clear on the DLC for PS3. Sometimes things are not always as cut-and-dry as you’d like them to be for stuff like this. It isn’t just as simple as “well you did it for platform X so it should be easy to bring it to platform Y.” If only it were that easy. I assure you it isn’t.

Thank you very much for the PS3 update! I’m very happy that there will be no further delay on the GOTY edition, and I have full confidence that Fallout 3 is going to be a huge success.

Like the majority, I am hopeful that DLC will eventually hit the PSN in the future, but I’m in no hurry and I am fully confident that it will happen. I’m willing to bet that it’s a market that will be hard to ignore, no matter the difficulties in making it happen. (which I don’t pretend to know, but realize that they are there)

Does the Shivering Isles Xbox 360 disk a install-once thing?
I am a new obvlion player and GOTY edition don’t seem to be coming out for my country (singapore) so if its a install-once thing. I am sold. The worst thing that can happen while playing a adventure game is to ask for a disk switch.

Hey, this looks pretty awesome, but I have a couple of questions:

Since the previous secure installers didn’t work on 64 bit versions of XP or any versions of Vista, will this downloadable content be a bit more friendly with those versions, or will there be a disc with the DLC’s (excluding Shivering Isles and Oblivion, as many pc owners already have those) that will work with Vista and whatnot?

I understand that Oblivion isn’t a Games For Windows thing, and therefore you guys don’t support Vista explicitly, I was just wondering, because getting to use this DLC would be fairly sweet.

Like I said before, if it comes down to it I will just pony up and buy the GoTY, but only if it won’t mess up my existing PS3 game saves. I would much rather buy SI expansion on PSN though.

So I talked with Ash about issues relating to the 64 bit version of beta.

Many of you probably already know this, but if you purchased the retail version of Knights of the Nine…that features all the DLC (minus Fighter’s Stronghold and Shivering Isles), you should be able to use it with the 64 bit version of Vista.

Ash has also let me know that with the FREE release of Fighter’s Stronghold next week, you’ll not experience any compatiblity issues. So make sure you go for the free release

Is the shivering isles retail disc coming out in Europe next week?
I’ve always preffered having a hard copy of my games so i’ ve been waiting for this. Thanks so much for releasing new dlc. I’ve loved the other dlc and am really looking forward to some new buildings to see. Thanks

Thats good news about the knights of the nine expansion working with 64 bit vista, so my plans are back on to get the 3 retail boxes.

I’m curious since I currently do not have my game rig can I download this free DLC then transfer it another pc when I have finished building it or is it locked to your pc?

If you could clear that up for me I would appreciate it.

I found this thread after doing a search on the Internet for info on the PS3 version of Oblivion: GOTY Ed. I’m elated to discover it will all be on one disc (although I’ve had it pre-ordered for awhile now, so I would have gotten it either way).

I’m not new to Oblivion. I bought it for the PC last year, but my computer, which I put together in 2004, simply isn’t powerful enough to run the game as it should be run. On the contrary, it looked absolutely gorgeous on my friend’s Xbox 360 (connected to his 50″ HDTV).

Well, I finally decided that I’m tired of upgrading or replacing my computer every few years to play the latest games, so I decided to invest in a “next gen (I suppose it’s “current gen” now) console. One of the main reasons I chose the PS3 over the 360 is because I’d read that while Microsoft has a virtual ban on mouse and keyboard controls on the 360, Sony has no such problems, and in fact a major title would be coming out for the PS3 that supported mouse and keyboard control. In my opinion, control pads definitely have their uses, but some games just play better with a mouse and keyboard. I’m certainly used to playing Oblivion that way, and I enjoy the accuracy that such a control scheme affords.

Since you welcome feedback in your column, here’s my suggestion: once you folks get the PSN DLC nut cracked, please consider making available a patch that will allow PS3 Oblivion players to use native mouse and keyboard control. I know I’m not the only guy out here who would love to see that.

On Xbox 360, the sizes are as follows:

Shivering Isles – 994 MB
Knights of the Nine – 142 MB

Spell Tomes – 668 KB
Vile Lair – 3 MB
Mehrune’s Razor – 788 KB
Thieves Den – 2 MB
Wizard’s Tower – 8 MB
Orrery – 10 MB
Horse Armor Pack – 3 MB

Total with SI and KotN = 1064 MB
Total without SI and KotN = 28 MB

Game saves are about 800 KB to 2 MB each.

I don’t know if these numbers will hold true on PS3, but I hope this helps!

I am eager to get GOTY edition for the PS3 but am disappointed that you could put out a GOTY edition that didn’t actually include all the content of the game (expansions plus DLC). That seems…cheap. However, I’m willing to be robbed because the DLC looks nice and I would love to get my hands on it. Please say something official soon about whether or not PS3 owners will have an opportunity to get their hands on the DLC!

Is the DLC problem for the PS3 related to the Blu-ray format? I have heard that a good bunch of developers are having issues with the PS3/Blu-ray format for games, that is the reason it takes so long for games to finally release. Also, I heard about PSN DLC problems in general about the system in which DLC downloads and installs.

LFotF, thank you VERY much for posting that, it was very helpful. 28 MB for all remaining DLC is not bad at all. I certainly hope that if/when it becomes available on PSN that it is roughly the same size.

Also to you Bethesda guys, I may be getting ahead of myself, but when you DO eventually figure out how to get the remaining DLC on the PSN can you make it so you can choose to purchase ALL of it in one download for one price? I’m not sure if Xbox Live has this option or not, but it would be much easier than having to download all of them individually. Thanks again and keep up the good work!

This can be interpreted that it will expire after one week. I doubt it will unless it replaces Oblivion.exe with a special build EXE just for this plug-in. There are a few people on the forum wondering what will happen when it “expires”.

My interpretation of this is that it will be free to download for a week and will not expire as there’s no mechanism for a plug-in to do that, and after a week it will be available as paid DLC as the others are. Hope I’m right.

Why does PS3 always receive the poorer port? Not only it lacks the official mods, but also HDR lighting, plus months late. There’s really no point of owning a PS3 for me.

mmm, i thinkfirs a thank you is in order, the castles lookinggood and it’s much appreciated. It saddens me slightly that this is the last peice of DLC you’ll be doing. Obviosly it’s timeconsuming and Bethesda have other priorities, but there are still so many things begging to be done. A nobility questline for example… Anyway whats gone before has made a superb game. Many thanx

Thanks for taking the time to respond to comments/questions left by your consumers. I bought Oblivion for the PS3 in late July; awesome game. Not trying to beat a dead horse, but I’m also hoping for the rest of the downloadable content to become available. How about putting all of it on a disc? Is that a viable option for the PS3? I sure hope so. thanks

marctennis: do you know this as a fact? I would think I can download it from Xbox LIVE when its released (same time as becoming downloadable from elderscrolls.com for PC). I’ve got European version (UK), so if I had PC version I could download it from the website. I think same applies for Xbox LIVE also.

I just hopped on Live and downloaded it here at work, so I know it’s up in the US. As a reminder, we don’t put up our own content on Live, so we don’t control the exact moment it goes up in each territory, etc. So it should be available in every territory that has the English version today, if it isn’t already. It will be up on elderscrolls.com shortly.

We are working on making it available on Xbox Live in localized territories as well, and we’ll make sure it’s available for free the first week it’s out in those territories. We’ll give you a heads up when it’s coming to Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Austria, etc…so you guys can keep an eye out for it.

Should be dates out soon on availability in Europe for Shiv Isles 360 at retail as well as PS3 GotY edition. Both of those are out in stores in N. America this week.

May I ask you a question that is not related with this blog. I have oblivion on my pc with graphic card atiradeon x1950 saphire and I can’t have hdr lighting on with anti-aliasing what is bettter hdr or anti-aliasing. Or if you can tell me the pest visual setmens.

My advice would be to wait until next week (or the week after) to download it from XBox Live. Sure you will have to pay 2400 points for it then, but the free version is guaranteed to cause a RROD, so pay me now or pay me later, as it makes no difference to me when I get your additional money. Mamma needs new shoes.

I wanna thank the good people of bethesda
for also giving european people like me the change to download this little plugin for the 360.

Offcourse when it will come out in europe it will cost me another 250 points or so, If it comes out at all.

But who counts, considering the fact that I allready spent over a 100 euro’s for this game (that’s 150 USD).

Gives me something to think about for the next elder schrolls, I,m gonna get it for my PC and the means will be EMULE.

I know that you’ve said before that you can’t say much else on DLC for PS3 Oblivion, and that it’ll happen if at all possible.

That said, it’s been, what, seven months since Oblivion came out on PS3, and the obsessed fan in me is really starting to doubt that it’s ever going to happen. So, I won’t ask you for any details; instead, I’ll ask for your opinion (even a gut feeling) on whether it will ever happen and how much longer you think it’ll take. If you can’t answer this, that’s fine, but an answer would be greatly appreciated.

Europe is always more complicated. Consider that we have a game there in five different languages, and because localization can change the way something works, we have to go through and test each version to make sure nothing screwy happens when DLC in English interacts with a game in another language.

We are working to get it available as quickly as possible in other countries in Europe where the English version shipped. We thought we had it set up to do so but apparently that didn’t happen. And because we have to go through other folks to make its happen, things aren’t always and smooth or instantaneous as we, or you, would like.

thank you for the answers so far. Just wanted to tell you, that i hope you will be releasing all the DLC for Oblivion PS 3 on a disk someday. I have bought both the PS 3 version and 360 collectors edition of Oblivion. But i just prefer the PS 3, even though i noticed more bugs than on 360, as the PS3 does not give me the impression that some undead must be using a vacuum cleaner in his dungeon.I live in germany and due to our strict/complicated laws concerning videogames, we dont get much content on PSN (until a few days ago, only content rated 12 or lower was available on PSN.Sony seems to change this now, but only very slow.)Also, here in Europe, few people have credit cards. As Sony has not provided any sort of “prepaid card” model, even if you release it on PSN a lot of peolpe are not able to buy it. (and i, personally just dont like this kind of electronic purchase without any sort of disk)As PS 3 is regionfree you dont even have to release a localized/european version, if you ask me(i prefer to play the english version anyway, since german translation and voiceovers are almost always subpar to the englisch version, not to say often outright terrible). Oh, and sorry for my bad english..

First i need 2 say that i love the elderscrolls games. But im just wonderin. Why do thay say that thay are goin 2 relese a plugin on a sertin date and then relese it some time later? I mean if thay dont know if thay kan make it then say a later date. I know its not the end of the world. But thay sed that the fighters stronghold waz goin 2 be relesed on October 15:th on there website and on xbox live (for xbox 360) And the PC version is out. 2 days late but still out. But i remember the old plugins for Oblivion. Some of them waz relesed 1 maby 2 weeks late. So why not say a late date that everybody knows that thay can make that date insted of saying 1 date and not stick with that date. I dont understand that… =S But my question is when will the Xbox 360 version of the fighters stronghold be relesed? Its 2 days overdue now and still now fighters stronghold! *sob, sob* I realy love the elderscrolls games. I even loved Morrowind and the expansions for it. Its still fun 2 play now and then. sorry ill try to make more sense im not used to writhe in english

i was able to get the pirat ship (dunbaro cove i think) and when i ran the game i properly recived the queste to go and get it, but, when i tryed the same with vile laire and fighter stronglhold the file corectly show in the data file but wen i play i wont get the wuest and the castle wont spawn, i am wondering why it dosent work wile the pirat ship does and it is suposed to work on vista

Oblivion doesn’t officially support Vista and we have no plans for a Vista patch, so we have no plans to officially support or patch DLC for Vista.

Is there a ‘setstage’ console command that will cause the castle to spawn? I’m having the same problem as the guy above, ie. using vista and castle will not spawn. There’s no map marker, no rumour update etc.

Did you view the post about the countries the game is currently available in?

If you’re in an area that has it, from the Xbox Live dashboard, go to the “marketplace” blade. From there, select “games”, and then select New Arrivals. Fighter’s Stronghold is available under Oblivion.

If you’re looking for other DLC, go to “All Games” instead of New Arrivals.

Hello i finnaly resolved the puzzle :)…If u can’t see the castle is beacuse u dont have the 1.2 patch instaled http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm go here select the english oblivion patch and install it ,i had it in l;ike 15 sec… so as soon as i entered the ame i got a quest :)) i hope u guys will get it too and remember instal the patch 1.2

Catalin is correct. The patch is also present in the Shivering Isles update, and loading Shivering Isles will also spawn the Fighters Stronghold.

1.I understand that Bethesda doesn’t take any liablity for anything that happens if you try to play Oblivion on Windows Vista, but does it still work?
2.Why was Dragonfire Castle renamed “Battlehorn Castle”, was there some other quest planned?

Kudos to Bethesda for such an excellent game. I’m sorry I missed out on the free download – however Oblivion was purchased as one of the first 2 games when we got our Xbox 360 and it truly made it shine. I truly marvel at the accomplishment of making such a open ended game – with such fantastic graphics (sometimes I sit and marvel at the sunlight coming through the large oak tree in Chorral – on a 42″ HD tv it’s like laying under a tree outside!).

However, from the very beginning when I noted other users having problems with their consoles and problems with downloaded content after having consoles replaced. I swore to myself I would not fall for that. I may have missed the free download and I admit it would have been a sore temptation to go ahead and try it for once. But I came here to check on the date of release for the expansions coming out on disc – and my only let down there is that there aren’t MORE of them on there! I’ll shell out my money for expansions I CAN HOLD IN MY HAND – as a computer tech I see too many failures of hard drives to trust a system that won’t let you back up something you paid for.

You know the old marketing/customer service saying… for every one that speaks up – there are a lot more out there thinking the same thing that won’t say anything. So crank out some more of those discs for the rest of the downloadable content!

(congrats on your huge funding for upcoming multiplayer games (well your parent company… but I suspect Oblivion was the reason for landing it!)

So I guess this means that my dreams a fully restored Kvatch is completely out of the question? I was hoping that since one of the NPC’s declares that they will rebuild Kvatch from the ruins, that you guys may possibly work on a DL for it. Oh well, I guess I will have to be impatiently awaiting word on the next installment of The Elder Scrolls.

I love the Fighter’s Stronghold. But it still seems really empty even after buying everything for it. There are all kinds of empty display stands that look like they should hold something, but nothing has appeared there yet.

I love Oblivion. But I use Vista. So I can only wonder why there is a lack of support for Vista, when there must be so many users of this fabulous game who will be turned off forever by Bethesda’s disregard for the immediate future of computing (especially considering how hard Apple Leopard blows).

What really bothers me is that I cant even get the downloadable content. I had hoped that when I got the GOTY edition that it would include it, but I got gipped again! I’m considereing purchasing Knights of the Nine just to get it, but I can only assume that the lousy support won’t even carry over that far.

Have your people even done an internet search for on this topic and see the bad press this is giving Bethesda?

So it all boils down to – there are Vista users out there willing to pay for the downloadable content, and yet you won’t even patch your installers to make your company money? and simultaneously you alienate your users? Is it really that hard to write a patch to please your own fans (and avoid further bad press)?

I alread have Knights of the Nine as part of the Game of the Year edition – but the GOTY doesnt include the downloadable content. And i wasnt looking foward to spending more when i already have half the content. And i how do i know that the DLC will transfer over and not destroy my GOTY saved games etc.

All i (and lots of others) would like is some support for a game we love on a OS that everone is starting to use.

Sorry lol but I kinda found out how to see Petes comments (yellow border) so I kinda just read all them, then I read just a few other posts. So here are my questions/comments

#1-For Vista, I installed and have played Oblivion on Vista, wonder why the rest cant?? Perhaps you’re wondering if Oblivion would support that lovely Direct X 10 feature? I dont know. #2 The very first sentence of this blog is my question:

“First, I wanted to let you know that we are finally releasing the last piece of downloadable content we created for Oblivion.”

A friend of mine said the phrase “I bet they are done, Oblivion is all over with”

But is this true? Bethesda has no plans of EVER doing any more expansions OR downloadable content for ES4: Oblivion?

ES4: Oblivion just barely got released, and looking at the time scale of the other Elder Scrolls we may have to wait til around 2010 before we get another one? Thats 3 years for this game to sit idle LOL

So is Bethesda in the process of making another expansion, will we hear about it in the next 6 months and have it released say November 2008? Or hear about it in November 2008 and have it released March 2009? OR again is it all over with and we just have to wait for Elder Scrolls 5 (releasing between 2010 and 2012?)

After installing the plug-in, a rumor appears about a battle at Battlehorn Castle.

The Stronghold is located west of Chorrol. It can be reached by traveling west from the North Country Stables.

Sithis, I live in Canada and I can’t find any copy of Shivering Isles for the PS3 in any store (EBgames, BestBuy, FutureShop, ToysRus, etc). Worst, it doesn’t even appear on their list of “upcoming games”. So even if it’s out in North America, it’s not yet available in Canada ;o) It’ll probably be available online on the PSN before I see it on shelf as a standalone disc. Patience!!! (I’m talking to myself loll!!).

Shatner and Nimoy said “no more” after Star Trek The Motion Picture was released in 1977.

I say that as long as the ES franchise makes money the content will keep coming. Unless Bethesda can afford to blow off eager customers and their open wallets.

I know it’s been a while since it came out, but I honestly have tried everything I could think of to get the Fighter’s Stronghold expansion to work, and nothing has happened. I’ve got the 360 version, and I must’ve downloaded the expansion within a day or two of its release, and it’s on my Xbox, but the it never appears in the game, and I never get the quest update telling me to go search for it. Help?

I have the GOTY edition on the PS3. Its good that you got the Shivering Isles on PSN for people who don’t have the Game of the Year edition. But if you can get a massive add On like that on PSN, Why can’t you get those very small add on like, horse armour, theieves den, fighters stronhold, etc. onto the PSN. I it really as hard as you say it is? YOu guys like Albert Einstein who could do large math equations, but not small simple ones?

hello, i have been playing ps3 version of Oblivian game of the year and pretty disapoiting been a vampire for 3 days doing the quest (cure of the vampire) took for ever to get all the items the npc wanted and at the when i went to give npc the bloodgrass it doesnt take them so now im stuck and dont know what to do and being a vampire is really stupid cant talkt o hardly anyone or anything and if i have to start over because of a bug then i will not replay it my time is waisted if i replay it all over screw that lol i will go back to FF11 thanks Axewipe

Why isn’t Shivering Isles isn’t available on the UK PSN store? I’ve had to buy the whole Oblivion(Orig+KOTN+SI) for PC just so I can experience SI. And some mods. >_> <_<

I’m a long time Bethesda fan, from Arena onwards… thanks to you guys for making the best RPG’s out there. I’ll continue to support you for as long as you make games.

Currently I own both the PC and PS3 versions of Oblivion. Unfortunately I cant play the PC version as much as I’d like due to the computer being in the bedroom…girlfriend goes to bed early…blah blah blah… so that’s why I got the PS3 version.

Point being, I’d like to add my voice to the cacophony of PS3 owners who are clamoring for DLC content! It’s nice having Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine and all, but darn it how can a respectable assassin not have acces to the Vile Lair? or dabble with Magic in the Wizards Tower?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE work out your issues with Sony. I dont see how it’s a problem to post the same PC/XBOX content to the Sony Network. I have the feeling this is an issue of money and not hardware/software. The consumers are willing to pay, charge more if you want.

PS3 with it’s huge blue ray discs and awesome graphic procesing is the future home for Elder Scrolls console titles. Why not make the customer base happy now?

Sorry to just repeat what others may have said. But I was very disappointed when I ran GOTY (for the Playstation) for the first time and saw that the majority of additional content I came to love on the computer (Mehrunes Razor, Vile Lair, Pirates Cove, etc..) wasn’t included. To be honest I felt kinda ripped off.

Yes, please…disc or download I don’t care. PS3 users want more content. Try to understand, many of us are searching every site we can trying to find some info on this. Any kind of update would be nice. It’s not going to happen… We’re working on it, but it won’t be available for months… It may come, but we aren’t working on it now… It’s almost ready… We can do it technically, but we are having problems with Sony. At this point I (and I think many others) would be happy with a definitive statement. It’s hard enough not being able to share in the mod community creations.

Some information, ANY information would be great for us ps3 oblivion addicts in the UK. If it was ‘We’re not releasing Shivering Isles alone and / or DLC for the forseeable future’ I’d be pretty depressed BUT at least we’d all know and would stop asking!

My PS3 Oblivion GOTY has been sitting around unused since I bought it in October, because I’ve been waiting for the DLC. I’ve seen the Fighters Stronghold and a couple of the other items, and they are unbelievably awesome. It’s killing me not to have them available. I wish they were and I hope they are soon.

Just to re-iterate what others have said – Oblivion GOTY PS3 has been out of stock with retailers for many weeks now… I had one on order but it got cancelled due to lack of stock… when will it be back in stock. More importantly; I’ve already got Oblivion PS3 and really just want Shivering Isles…. USA had the retail disc and download on PSN since last year… when will we get it… why won’t Bethesda announce anything or give us any news… not a nice way to treat your customers in my opinion

Just chiming in to reiterate my interest in making all the DLC available to PS3 owners. I would think demand is high for the content. Put it all on a disk and sell it for $19.95–I’d buy it. I’d buy it for $29.95, but maybe that’s just me. At least give us some kind of update on the progress of it. Is it ever going to happen?

I feel very disappointed about Bethesda attitude towards YOUR customers.

Still no info about Shivering Isles for PS3 in Europe? (so, what was the deal with Ubisoft for them to publish the GOTY edition in Europe? 6 months until you publish Shivering Isles in the store?).

Still no info on DLC, neither?

If you are going to let PS3 owners without those contents, just let us know how much you care about us. But STOP cheating us with that “no news to report at this time” politics.

I will surely reconsider buying Fallout 3 if you have turned to be that kind of company that let your customers feel frustrated and don’t move a finger to help them out…

Like Bruno, I feel very strongly about Shivering Isles being avaialble since October in the US (on disc and on PSN) but not in Europe.

There’s no such thing as no news – someone, somewhere knows what the strategy and schedule and/or barriers are.

I realise that you are not the publisher, but frankly, I’m absolutely disgusted at the moment, disappointed and feeling extremly let down. Why can’t we have a definative statement?

Hello,thank you for getting the SI serious on PSN, I am puzzled as to why they would let SI on PSN but not all the other DLC, I relize that SI is a major patch, Though I would love to be able to have my own lavish castle… TALK ABOUT POWER AND RESPECT… When can I have it, oh and my armored horse to ride out of the castle gates and on to my noble crusades. Yes I obviously am a role player LOL. You guys are awsome I have never had a game take my breath away with the beauty and the mystery’s of all the TES games I have played. I will not critisize you or falsely accuse you of not care about your fans because if you guys hadn’t I wouldn’t be able to turn it on and tell how many hours and how much love you guys put into your games. I am displeased with Bethesda, I don’t understand why they can’t provide a 64bit installer for Stronghold. Its quite obvious there is alot of people who need this, but its better to provide content that some can’t have rather then take care of loyal customers. I bought this expansion so eager to play it. Just so they can protect the piracy of a 1.89 download. I understand all that but dang I know they got a crap load of emails so why not come up with a solution for us? I’d pay more for it so would most other Elder Scroll Fans

im about to go nuts gettin really tired of waiting for these guys to get off there you know whats and get dlc for ps3 ive beat the game completley twice and that includes knights of the nine and the shivering isles so know provided my guy could do it we would be sitting here together twiddiling our thumbs but for know i guess it will just be me doing that but still its getting kinda troubling how you guys can come out with this stuff for other things so fast but you seem to be doing nothing about the dlc for the ps3. personally if i dont see anything gettin done then there obviously isnt anything gettin done.

Well, since Bethseda have not got off their laurals and sorted out the Vista compatability issues with this game, I have taken my copy back to the shop with a full refund. The guy said that GOTY versions of Oblivion are being sent back regularly due to incompatability issues. Its a shame when you think that when I bought my PC last year, I did so for 3 reasons (other than uni). These were Neverwinter Nights 2, Medieval TW 2, and most of all, Oblivion. I had waited for the GOTY version of Oblivion so I was angry and disapointed that the game had not been adapted to come into line with Vista. Vista may not have been out when Oblivion came out originally, but it has been out for a while now. Not making a patch, workaround etc is just pure laziness to me. You can’t sit by and expect a dedicated core of fans to write it for you.

I understand fully how hard it must be to make the DLC for ps3, alot of us are mad about not getting the extra downloads via psn and me i know i would love to play the extra castles have the knights of the thorn do what i want and have my own castle in the game besides in shivering ilses im patient and i can wait i just wanted to say i understand and i believe in you guys that you’ll make it happen for us gamers playing on the ps3 if you need us all to talk to sony we will and even like somebody else said on here we’ll be happy to pay money for it you tell us we’ll pay for it but dont rush it spend time with it some of us gamers truly understand how hard it is to be fair with products lol but as i said im a patient one

I donÂ´t know about you guys, but I must admit that I donÂ´t really care anymore. The train has left the platform and they missed it – bigtime!

Talk about ignoring a fantastic business opportunity.

Well, life goes on but honestly IÂ´ll think twice before buying bethesda games in the future. What a total let-down.

I’ve been reading and looking and reading and it has become clear to me…we will never be getting PS3 DLC content because the people of bethesda are lazy! they would rather never release any content to the ps3 if they had the chance to make love with xbox360, i’m even betting that elder scrolls 5 will be only for xbox360 since bethesda will be so far up microsofts butt that they will no longer care about the PS3 and the fans who once supported their company! “but oh bethesda wont die they have xbox360 and the pc” well once the xbox360 gets crushed by the PS3 and the pc is no longer marketabe ol bethesda will return to the ps3 and you know what? I too would like to see PS3 DLC, however, I imagine since Xbox is a Microsoft product, it’s way easier to port than PS3. They also have to slate precious Dev time for it when they could be working on their 2010 ES release. If leaving it be now means we’ll get ES5 for PS3 sooner, then so be it.

On another note, maybe we could start a petition for DLC and therein pledge to buy it.

Bethesda, where is the DCL for PS3??
I’ve been looking all over the place, from PSN to google.
I did all kinds of search, but i still coulnd’t find any news about this matter.
So how will it be? I think i remember seeing SI on a Blu-Ray disk, but i can’t find it, people say they exist, but i can’t find it in Europe (Portugal).
Is there even a PAL version of SI for PS3?
If there is please tell me, i’m tired of searching and not finding.
I’m a fan of Bethesda, i played a couple os Bethesda games, but if you keep treating the PS3 users like this, i won’t keep a fan of you guys.
If SmackD*** vs. Ra* 2009 has DCL why can’t you have? Is it THAT hard??
XBox has it, PC has it, but what about PS3???? I want to buy SI, but i won’t buy GOTY just because of it

I was wondering if at all possible would you be able to put all of the DLC onto a disc for both xbox 360 and ps3 owners?

I happen to have Oblivion game of the year edition for both systems actully.

I have yet to have my 360 repaired but I had heard that oblivion runs better on ps3 so that is why I got it for the that system as well.

So far I am a lil undecided as to which system does it better.

But where I live I have been un-able to get either of my systems online and you mentioning about possible putting some of the DLC on a disc for PS3 owners had me thinking would you put all of the DLC onto a disc or discs for 360 and ps3?

I can tell you right now I don’t care how much you’d charge for that becuase since I have not been able to get either of my systems online I am inclined to pay whatever the costs the discs would be just to get the DLC content for both systems.

P.S.

I am a big fan of the series also i have only played Morrowind and Oblivion thus far.

I foolishly uninstalled the Fighter’s Stronghold DLC when I finished the core game last time, but I have recently started it up again and would like to install the Fighter’s Stronghold again. I just can’t find it anywhere now. The official obliviondownloads site is no more and there are no mirror sites hosting this DLC that I can find. Could you advise where I can download?

I thought about making an RPG game based on the Harry Potter novels. I picked up the 5th anniversary edition of Oblivion & would like to know if it contains ALL DLC content?
