What we’re playing: Rock You Like a Hurricane edition

Guitar Hero is back, and it looks like quite a few people are ready to rock some more. I myself picked up the game this week on 360 with the new Les Paul guitar controller. It’s so choice…if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. As for the guy above, I have no idea who he is, but he’s on the blog now.

Here’s what the rest of the guys are playing. We’ll start with our departing design intern, William Killeen…the Company of Heroes crew will miss you!

William Killeen, Design Intern: Team Fortress 2, Company of Heroes, and… um… Boggle… with… lasers…

Gavin Carter, Producer: Going to finish up watching…, I mean playing, Eternal Sonata. Guitar Hero 3 after that as soon as I find the stupid breakaway cable from the end of my guitar controller. Pretty sure my cat got it and hid it somewhere. She can be a jerk like that.

Dane “I got nothing this week” Olds, Artist: Hellgate London, Crysis Single Player Demo, Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, The Legend of Zelda the Phantom Hourglass, TF21

Ruben Brown, QA Lead: WoW

Pete Hines: Halo 3, Guitar Hero 3, Jeanne D’Arc, Picross

Ricardo Gonzalez, Assistant Regional Manager of ROCK!: Guitar Hero 3, Psychonauts

Angela Browder, Associate Producer: Guitar Hero 3, Puzzle Quest, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Aaron Mitschelen, QA: Soul Nomad and the World Eaters, LotRO, Hellgate: London, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, Jean d’Arc, GrimGrimoire, World in Conflict, Guild Wars, Persona 3, Eye of Judgment (how’d a PS3 game get in here?).

Orin Tresnjak, Graphics Programmer: Traveling this weekend. I’ll probably be playing Phantom Hourglass or Puzzle Quest on the plane.

Craig Lafferty, Producer: Guitar Hero 3, Virtua Fighter 5, Madden 08

Todd Howard: Finishing Orange Box before CoD4 comes out.

Ryan Lea QA: Frolf, Phantom Hourglass, Zack and Wiki

Jabarie “Kaboom Boom!” Brown, Quality Assurance: Team Fortress 2 (Medic! Someone please play a flippin’ Medic!), Portal (Advanced Levels…give me my cakes already!), Halo 3 (Come on Call of Duty 4…), World of Warcraft (They tried to make me go to rehab…I said no, no, no).

Dan Ross, QA Tester: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, Neverwinter Nights 2, comtemplating Hellgate: London but I think I may have closed enough Oblivi- er “hell gates” for my taste already.

Matt Ouzounian, Quarreling Antagonist: Team Fortress 2 (forget about the rest of the Orange Box), City of Heroes

Ashley Cheng, Production Director: Orange Box

Fred Zeleny, aka Frodo Teabaggins: After kicking some butt in TF2, I’m returning to some classics: playing mind games with The Fool’s Journey, and attempting the full pacifism playthrough in the original Fallout.

Alan Nanes, Designer: Guitar Hero 3 (Xbox360), World of Warcraft (PC), Folklore (PS3)

Nate “Fluffy Bunny” Purkeypile, Astronaut Magician: TF2 and PGR4.

Megan Sawyer, Rockstar: Guitar Hero 3

Michael Wagner, Marketing:
Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Halo 3 multiplayer

Ryan “KA-BOOOM” Ashford, QA: Team Fortress 2

Michael Lattanzia, QA: Hellgate: London

Matt Grandstaff, Community Manager: Guitar Hero 3, Half-Life 2.

  1. You’re playing Stranglehold? I feel sorry for you… Dark Crusade! Now that’s an RTS… Halo 3? Pah.. Orange Box yet again.. Guitar Hero III…

3/6, See me, Get second opinion.

How much GnR is there on Guitar Hero III? Bear in mind, this question will be marked. (No, really, it will)

  2. Yeah, it’s now 3/7. You fail Bethesda.
    Never thought i’d say that..

One more question: Did John Bruce ‘Miami Jack’ Thompson try to block the sale of The Elder Scrolls IV? If you could just clear that up..

  3. It’s certainly worth trying, especially when you have friends over. Some of the novelty has worn off for me, but it’s certainly fun when you’re playing a song you really like.

  4. It’s a good game, no doubt, particularly for friends gatherings, it’s just not my thing.

My kid likes it, but prefers the real electric guitar he has in the room (with phones, of course!).

  5. If I could hook up my Roland AX-7 keytar to the XB360 interface, I’m sure I’d play Guitar Hero.

But alas, I really don’t want to pay 80 bucks for a 12 year old kids guitar.
