What we’re playing: Friday Night Fight vs. EA Mythic

As many have noticed, we definitely have plenty of folks that take Team Fortress 2 very seriously. In matches against developers from other companies, the Vault 101 Dwellers have amassed a record of 3-0 — beating the likes of Breakaway, Retro and Bioware. Tonight, the boys from Bethesda are aiming their sites on another win, this time against EA Mythic (makers of Dark Age of Camelot). Rumor has it a match against Blizzard…err…Activision Blizzard is being negotiated by Don King…keep an eye out for that.

So will the office team move to 4-0, or will this blog post serve as a jinx? Stay tuned!

Here’s what the Vault 101 Dwellers and everyone else are playing this weekend…

Cory Dornbusch, An Unwashed Villager… err QA Tester: The Witcher, and TF2 – Bethsoft vs. Mythic Friday night…place your bets!

Nate Purkeypile, Uber Pyro: TF2 match against Mythic to hopefully maintain our undefeated streak, Mario Galaxy and sending back my busted Rock Band drums and guitar.

Mike Lattanzia, QA: Hellgate: London (testing out new Blademaster builds), Rock Band, Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty 4 (I finally gave in), Savage 2, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness (getting close to finishing the main story!), Super Mario Galaxy; way too many games right now, I’m almost glad that Smash Bros was delayed.

Matt Ouzounian, Medic: Team Fortress 2 against EA Mythic, and then probably nothing.

Fred Zeleny, Game Designer: TF2, WoW, and more world-touring with my Rock Band Hall of Fame group, “Dogmeat”

Matt Grandstaff, Community Manager: Ratchet and Clank Future, Rock Band, possibly Fallout if I can ever get a new mail key.

Adam Adamowicz: Still playing Oblivion, like, 2 years later…

  1. Where’s the Bethesda Company of Heroes team? Now with the team automatch beta, surely there are fertile grounds for stomping dev face.

  2. Kurt and I haven’t had a chance to try the beta. Events conspired against us this week every time we tried. The one time we finally had some free time and the Internet went down in the building. CURSES!

We play a match pretty much every day we can during lunchtime…around 12:30. I wouldn’t imagine that automatch would allow us to find any one team in particular to play, but if folks want to meet up for a fun game of 2 v 2 online sometime, drop us a note via the Bethblog inbox and we’ll try to set something up if we can. We always play the Americans, we’re still trying to sort out how to deal with the PE, who still are awfully tough to beat, even with the most recent nerfing in the patch.

  3. Yeah, we’re ready to be pummelled by Team Relic, anytime anywhere.

(Tried the team automatch today … dropped the german team on start the first try, showed 1 team available the second try and we sat for 5 minutes waiting before we went off to play a normal game. Maybe later in the week we’ll try again.)
