What we’re playing: Bubbles Bursting edition

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a sports nut (but in no way associated with nuts called Buckeyes). For me, it really doesn’t get any better than March Madness. The buzzer beaters. The upsets. The Cinderella teams. It’s AWESOME, baby!!! Awesome except for the fact that my alma mater hasn’t made the Big Dance in the past decade. You can see just how bad things have gotten by looking at the score of their final game played today.

The good news for me is that misery loves company. My fellow Bethesda Blog pals, Pete and Ashley, won’t have much to cheer for either. Pete’s Demon Deacons showed promise at times this year while battling adversity, but ultimately, they were outmatched in a very competitive conference. As for Ash, his alma mater, the Unversity of Maryland, has definitely seen better days. Their loss yesterday in the ACC Tournament pretty much sealed a trip to the NIT.

I suppose we can still hope for exciting games to watch in this year’s tournament. And if the games get boring, there’s always plenty of videogames to play.

Here’s what we’ll be playing this weekend. Let us know what you’re playing, and if you’re into college hoops, tell us who you’re rooting for.

Angela Browder, Associate Producer: Lost Odyssey, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Transformers: The Game

Sam Bernstein, QA Tester: Carcassonne, Catan, Eternal Sonata, and Fallout 3

Orin Tresnjak, Graphics Programmer: Pata pata pata pon. Pon pon pata pon!

Jay Woodward, Robognostician: Mass Effect, Rock Band, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Race for the Galaxy, Fallout 3

Nate Purkeypile, The Purkey-est Purkey: TF2, Sins of a Solar Empire

Justin McSweeney, QA: God of War: Chains of Olympus, Bully: Scholarship Edition, and likely more TF2.

Fred Zeleny, Last Man Standing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl (fear the two-dimensional power of Game & Watch!), Rock Band, and whatever drinking game occurs to me as I watch Doomsday. I should be fine with “drink any time this doesn’t make any sense” and “drink whenever it’s awesome anyway.”

Craig Lafferty: Frontlines: Fuel of War, Lost Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, The Club

Nate Ellis, Design Intern: Inviting a bunch of people over for Rock Band (DLC, mmmmm), I may try out Condemned 2 (although I never played the first), Company of Heroes, and WoW.

Gary Noonan, Character Animator: Final Fantasy X-2…. Will it ever end? The growing urge to wear a miniskirt is driving me crazy.

Ryan Lea: Super Smash Bros. Brawl & Prof. Layton

Ryan Salvatore, World Record Intern: Oblivion, maybe TF2 and Bioshock, and just because I’m so proud, I’ll tell you my girlfriend will probably be playing Deja-vu for the Commodore 64.

Dane Olds, Artist: Patapon, Mass Effect, DOOM, Rez HD.

Aaron Mitschelen, QA: LotRO, Super Smash Bros. Brawl (even if the adventure mode does make me want to diiiiie…)

Cory Dornbusch, Unwashed Villager…QA Tester: Team Fortress 2 (1980s movie comeback montage style)

Dan Ross, QA: Hellgate: London, Company of Heroes, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles

Emil Pagliarulo, Fallout 3 Lead Designer: Frontlines: Fuel of War, The Witcher, Condemned 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Bully Scholarship Edition, Dark Messiah Might and Magic Elements

Mike Lattanzia, QA: Hellgate: London (waiting on patch 1.2!), Smash Bros. Brawl (must unlock more…), Rock Band (and spending way too much money on DLC songs), and probably messing with XNA some.

Tim “Visor” Lamb, Associate Producer: COD4 (Almost have my gold cross)

Jon Paul Duvall, Designer: Rock Band, N+, Race for the Galaxy

Michael Wagner, Marketing: Godzilla Unleashed, Beautiful Katamari

Joel Burgess, Land Wasting Specialist: Diablo II, Brawl

Dan Teitel: Oblivion

Jared Angus, QA Tester: Last weekend I got married and received a Wii as a wedding gift, so this weekend we’ll be playing that.

Rafael Vargas: FIFA 08

Matt Grandstaff, Community Manager: God of War: Chains of Olympus, Oblivion, N+, Super Smash Bros. Brawl

AGGHH!!! BRAIN SHOT! Am gonna be stupid for the rest of my life thanks to the horrific image conjured up by your words Mr.Noonan :D

As for what am playing the just released expansion to DAWN OF WAR called SOULSTORM. So far its very good and they did a great job on the Sisters Of Battle and the Dark Eldar. Both races are pretty creepy in their fanatical ways. The execution of the new aircraft units is not what I expected but they still serve an interesting purpose.

  3. [Soulstorm was so last week Hellbishop.
