We just put out a press release announcing ‘A Post-Apocalyptic Film Festival Presented by Fallout 3′ that we’ve put together in conjunction with The American Cinematheque and Geek Monthly. The festival is a two-day event taking place at the Aero Theatre in Los Angeles, and will feature the following post-apocalyptic favorites:
Friday, August 22nd (beginning at 7PM Pacific Time)
- Wizards — directed by Ralph Bakshi
- Damnation Alley — directed by Jack Smight
- A Boy and His Dog — directed by L.Q. Jones
Saturday, August 23rd (beginning again at 7PM PT)
- The Last Man on Earth — directed by Ubaldo Ragona
- The Omega Man — directed by Boris Sagal
- Twelve Monkeys — directed by Terry Gilliam
If you’re in the area and dig the genre, you’ll want to check it out. Tickets will be available on Fandango.com beginning July 25.

Ok, I’m sorry, but Wizards is an awful, awful movie. EXCEPT! It does have THE BEST ending/final fight in a movie ever. One of those situations where you finally can’t take anymore, you stand up to turn off the tv, and the ending comes along and makes it all worthwhile.
This crazy amalgam makes the movie bearable. One of those weird paradoxes of movie.
What, no Mad Max 2 or 3?
Why does every event I want to go always involve me traveling across the country?

It does take some getting used to. I look at it as more a movie of symbolic imagery dealing with alot of subjects like war propaganda and sterilizing over ritualizing of some religions like the scene with the two Rabbis doing a ritual for every little thing all the while the end of the world is right outside their door which they could have done something about if they didnt have their heads buried in the sand.
What no ROBOT MONSTER or GORATH? What kind of a festival isss this?
You all aren’t putting one on in the DC area? For shame! We Marylanders see how it is Bethesda. No love for the locals.
You could make it up to me by including Calvert County in Fallout 3 though. Mutated Brahmin ranches fit well with the county’s rural nature during the timeline split of the real/fallout universe.
Here’s a couple:
Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
The Day After
Planet of the Apes
Testament
I can’t seem to find the tickets on Fandango.
I’ll look into it Andrew.
