What we’re playing: Horde Edition

While there are plenty of games out there to be played, Gears of War 2 is getting a lot of talk around the office — particularly for its incredibly addictive Horde mode. This week I lost a fair amount of sleep time battling the horde late into the night with fellow co-workers.

In addition to Gears 2, many are preparing to be zombified by Left 4 Dead — playing the demo over and over. Coming from Valve, this game could become the biggest craze at the office since Team Fortress 2.

Here’s the full rundown of what we’re playing…

Ryan Lea:  Fallout 3 or Gears of War 2.

Chris Esko, Gameplay Programmer: Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Castle Crashers, Dead Rising, Wii Sports.

Fred Zeleny, Dogmeat Wrangler: Enjoying Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, Rock Band 2, Left 4 Dead demo, but somehow finding all of my time going into Incredibots.

Ryan Salvatore, Associate Artist: Civilization IV, WoW (non-Wrath), and Left 4 Dead

Matt Weil: Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty 4.

Craig Lafferty, Producer: Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Far Cry 2 – it’s 2 week.

Daryl Brigner, Level Designer: Left 4 Dead Demo (PC), and Call of Duty: World at War (PC).

Dan Ross, QA: LittleBigPlanet, Pokemon Emerald/Colosseum, Company of Heroes.

Brent Krische, QA Tester: Lego Batman, Gears of War 2, and PAIN.

Michael Lattanzia, QA: LittleBigPlanet (finally 100% and aced all the levels so it’s time to start creating!), Warhammer Online, Monster Hunter Freedom 2.

Pete Hines: Fallout 3, something else out of the giant pile waiting to be played.

Ashley Cheng, Producer: Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Mirror’s Edge

Matt Grandstaff, Community Manager: Gears of War 2, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Call of Duty: World at War.

  1. GEARS OF WAR 2 looks mighty hot! Many a console user is gonna be mighty happy this xmas :D

Looks like Pete Hines is enjoying FALLOUT 3 as much as the fans are. Great interview at Avault. Dont know what the heck they’re talking about with somebody saying something about the FALLOUT 3 level scaling. To me the level scaling is perfect in the game and never gets in the way but instead enhances the experiance. Definitely nothing like the heavily armored road bandits of OBLIVION.

As for what am playing mostly FALLOUT 3 and when i can barely tear myself away from it:

    Company Of Heroes
    The Witcher Enhanced Edition
    Neverwinter Nights 2 Gold Edition
    Crysis
Dawn Of War Soulstorm with the recently released patch.

  2. Well… I’m playing NBA 2k9 and getting started to penetrate and fully explore the postnuclear Washington D.C. as I’m plaing Fallout 3 again.
Is there any former WoW player who ain’t excited about Wrath? I guess not, so I’ll be fighting with myself not to play WoW.

  3. My CURRENTLY ACTIVE list:
Gears of War 2 – Xbox360 (Trying to find all the collectibles on Insane solo)
Battlefield: Bad Company – PS3 (Trying for those new trophies!!)
Devil May Cry 4 – PS3 (I’ll S-Rank the Bloody Palace soon enough)
Contact – DS (I just have a huge backlog of games)
Monster Hunter 2 Freedom – PSP (Still trying for all the armour sets)

And as soon as I’m done with my game demo, I’m buying my Collector’s Edition Fallout 3 for the PC as well as a regular edition so I can play it. And if there’s money left over somehow, Resistance 2, Valkyria Chronicles and Guitar Hero 4.

  4. with all this playing at Bethesda, who is fixing FO3 for the pc?

its like reading how good the new Ford is when my shiny new lemon sits in the driveway

    2 cents of nothing,

  5. Tonight, it’s Saint’s Row 2.

Rest of the week has been Lich King.

I’ve been through the Capital Wasteland twice now already, so no more Fallout 3 for awhile.

  6. @cowfish13: Ricky commented a few weeks back, “Ricardo Gonzalez, 3rd Strongest Programmer: At last, playing Mother 3 in sweet, sweet English.”

@angelo: We’ve got folks investigating reported issues at the moment.
