What we’re playing: Super-Cold-Football-Inauguration Weekend Edition

US_presidential_inauguration_2005.jpg

Crazy times here in the Capital region. First, it’s insanely cold. Checking out  Weather Channel, right now it “feels like 1 degree.” BRRRRR! To add to the fun, we’re expecting 2-3 million visitors coming to the area for President-Elect Obama’s inauguration next week. Exciting times…but it’s going to be hectic too.

On top of all that, the stage for this year’s Super Bowl will be determined this weekend. While we’re in Redskins country, I would have expected some rooting for the Baltimore Ravens. But from the list below, it’s all about the Stillerz. Hmm, maybe we should make some downloadble content in the Pittsburgh area??? :)

Anyways, while we stay inside to avoid the cold and all the tourists, here’s the games we’ll be playing when we’re not watching football.

Have a great weekend!

Fred Zeleny, Steel City Expatriate: X-Com Interceptor, Rock Band 2 (with my new cymbal set!), and starting my second campaign in Fall From Heaven 2. I think I’ll make a black and gold Steeler empire to crush the world. Oh yes.

Megan Sawyer, Environment Artist: Animal Crossing City Folk. Also,  rooting for the Steelers. GO STILLERZ!

  1. Didn’t submit mine in time, but I just wanted to make sure it was known that the Ravens are well represented in the office. Much like the team, the Ravens fans around here will let a Sunday victory do most of the talking (seriously, we can’t lose three times to the same team this year).

  2. Matt, any tips for figuring out how in the 9 Hells to play X series games? I love them, but I’m no good at them. The learning curve is rough at best and ungodly at worst.

  3. Joel Burgess with the key Bloodlines pick!

    I just got Fable 2 so I’ll be playing that… but I’ll also be playing a whole lot of Reading-Boring-Books-For-College :( .

  4. Re: X3, I’ve played about 10 hours now and you could still fill a book with what I don’t know about X3. My advice is to make the Egosoft forums your best friend and search them whenever you run into trouble. Don’t be afraid to ask obvious-seeming questions if nothing turns up. Start with the Terran campaign if you have TC, the first few missions are almost a tutorial.

Here’s a site that I always have open when playing: http://eng.x3tc.ru/

It has a map of the game universe, a list of abandoned ships you can salvage and stats for almost everything.

  5. Football havent watched it since the days of Joe Montana.

Holiday and birthday gaming goodness am playing at the moment is:

    LEFT4DEAD
    PAINKILLER TRIPLE DOSE
    DEAD SPACE
    THE WITCHER Enhanced Edition
    HALF LIFE 2
OBLIVION with all DLCs n Shivering Isles
FALLOUT 3 with the great one shot kill headshots :D
