Top Oblivion DLC on Xbox Live, Lifetime

TES4-Wiztower01.jpg

Downloadable content has been a tremendous success for us and we’re excited to be offering it up for Fallout 3, beginning with Operation: Anchorage. I recently put together a presentation about downloadable content, here are the highlights.

The main thing to note is this: you guys LOVE Oblivion. To this day, 2 years later. Looking at our Xbox Live reports, every day, tens of thousands of people STILL play Oblivion and they purchase thousands and thousands of downloadable content — again, every day. Yes, even Horse Armor continues to sell daily.

So here is Oblivion’s downloadable content, ranked by Purchased Downloads on Xbox Live, since launch:

1. Wizard’s Tower

2. Thieves Den

3. Mehrunes Razor

4. Spell Tomes

5. Vile Lair

6. The Orrery

7. Knights of the Nine

8. Shivering Isles

9. Horse Armor

10. Fighter’s Stronghold*

*If we rank by pure downloads and include the free promotions we’ve had, Fighter’s Stronghold becomes #1.

  1. I was pretty stunned when I saw Fighter’s Stronghold at number 10, because it’s by far my favourite, but then I guess most people grabbed it for free.

Wizards’ Tower and Mehrunes’ Razor are the other ones I like best.

I don’t get why Shivering Isles is all the way down there – surely it pretty much counts as a game in its own right!

  2. I know why. Wizard tower is an amazing place to store everything you find in game, and where you get a lot of services and it’s nice looking too. And a safe place to kill Adoring Fan without testimones, then resurrect/kill forever with Staff of Worms! :D

  3. I just recently started Oblivion again after a pause of about two years. It’s still a great game, and the Fighter Stronghold was new to me. Very nice!

  4. Bethesda released a lot of plugins for just one game, but I wish even more DLC would keep coming out all the way until the release of TES V.

  5. I’m sure there would be many more downloads if Bethesda released all of these on the PS3. Come on guys, what’s the hold up?

  6. I can say I’m a happy downloader of all of them, yet I bought Shivering Ilses and Knights of the Nine from GAME. Roll on TESV I can’t wait!!!

  7. I’m afraid I never downloaded any of those, but Shivering Isles will be my next purchase. I’m sorry for being a cheap bastard.

  8. Let’s chat about Fighters Stronghold being the #1 dl’ed DLC, because of the free promotion. Now Bethesda was criticized (somewhat unfairly) for the high cost of Spell Tombs and Horse Armor. However, you guys were the first ones doing it. Now is Bethesda going to look at price versus value for DLC’s with the next TES game?

  9. I would literally spend WHATEVER amount of money Bethesda wanted to charge for the remaining DLC on my PS3. Seriously. I wouldn’t bat an eye at any price they wanted to charge. $100 bucks for remaining plug ins on PS3? I’d buy it. That is how badly I want to play this content. I really wish we would get a solid and definitive answer someday. The game has been out long enough that Bethesda should be able to say “NO” without worrying about scaring away potential customers. Although I hope that won’t be the answer.

  10. Bethesda,

Primarily, you create the worthwhile games that keep me playing. I own GOTY oblivion and Fallout 3. I adore you guys. But honestly, the time has come to post DLC for the playstation 3. I know there are software issues but if it can be done for shivering isles, why not the other ones. It could become a very proud source of income. A statement of where you are at on this, or when we can or can’t expect DLC would be greatly appreciated from all fans and followers. thank you.

  11. TO THE PEOPLE AT BETHESDA, PLEASE RELEASE THE PLUG-INS FOR THE PS3 AND A PATCH FIX TO THE VAMIPRE DIEASE ALSO FOR THE PS3. MY FRIEND HAS THE 360 VERSION AND JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT ALL THE AVAILABLE DOWNLOADS. WE TALK ABOUT THE GAME ALOT AND COMPARE CHARACTER AND QUEST QUIET OFTEN AND I AM LITTLE UPSET THAT THE GAME HAS BEEN OUT FOR QUIET SOME TIME AND YOU GUYS STILL HAVEN’T RELEASED IT FOR THE PS3. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

  12. I agree with everyone else…PS3 addons are a must for Oblivion. I love the game! I spend a lot of money on the PS3 store and would like the chance to throw some your way for addons.

  13. Everyones already said it but ill say it again. PS3 DLC IS A MUST!!!!!!!! Its a win-win situation. We get add-ons which give us even more reason to play your games AND you get a bucket load of money from us! What have you got to lose? And while we’re on the subject, Fallout 3 DLC for the PS3 anyone?

  14. You guys don’t have to rag on them constantly for dlc on the Play Station. They are arguably the greatest RPG makers in history, I’m sure they know the value of putting it out there for you guys. And think of it this way; would you rather them waste time on fixing the software problem, or work on the next Elder Scrolls?!?!

  15. the plug-in is great but for the ps3, it only have shivering isles and knigh of the nine, could Bethesda softwork put the other plug-in into Oblivion for ps3 so the ps3 owner can continues to play Oblivion with more mission and places?

  16. It would be nice if you could actually download it on xbox. Currently when you try to download this content it comes up with a failure to download message. So don’t buy it. they will charge you and you will not get the content

  17. We cant even download it and yes i would actually prefer they got the plug ins for the PS3 out and THEN worked on number 5. In stead of skipping us out and doing the same with number 5 you could make more money!

  18. Why? Can someone from Bethesda answer me on Why we have no DLC for the PS3? It can’t be that hard to answer. So Why? You did it with Shivering Isles on PSN. Why? You did it with KotN. Why can’t I just get a straight answer? Any time someone asks, it is ignored or you guys say We’ll see or something like that. Why can’t you just answer the question? It’s not like your hiding a “terrible, jaw dropping, horrible secret”. So why?You get money and love from PS3 fans, and we get DLC. I didn’t like Fallout so I still play Oblivion. I would TOTALLY but DLC on a disc for $50+ and many others would too. If PSN is an obstacle, release it on disc!

Thanks for listening Bethesda. Don’t get me wrong I love TES and I support you guys but you guys need to seriously think about this.

Thanks for bearing with me. Any response from a REAL Bethesda developer would totally kick butt.

  19. I would really love to be able to use my DLC content again; however, it WILL NOT Install for 64bit windows… what a WASTE. The Oblivion DLC content was so great. Game is boring without it.

Please make it work for 64bit versions of windows. the Game installs to 64bit windows, why can’t the plug ins?

  20. Yes it would be fun to be able to download DLC

What’s the deal with The Vile Lair and Thieves Den not downloading on Xbox?

  21. I have the xbox version and I love it! I still play it almost every day since it came out.

But you guys neeeeeeeed to patch it!!! There are tons of little issues and parts of the game that clash.

The unnofficial oblivion patch mod has fixed over 2000 of such issues. Couldn’t you guys look over the code and release it as an official patch? It seems most the work has been done for you.

Would love to see this patch for xbox >.<

and help the ps3 brothers out with DLC :D

  22. I think I know why Wizard’s Tower is #1.
It is because all those who roleplay, eg. those who play evil characters, those who want infamy rather than fame, will not do the mages guild quests. Or maybe they just don’t want to lose the Bruma Mages Guild.

Wizard’s Tower is the solution to that! Get acces to enchanting and spellmaking within a few minutes of gameplay!

Wizard’s Tower is definately one of the best DLC that Bethesda has ever made, because it allows people to make spells and enchant items and still be able to play their role.
