Below are details on Fallout 3 DLC for PlayStation 3, as well as an update on Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition.
PlayStation 3 Downloadable Content
Today we released an update for the PS3 version of Fallout 3 that addresses a number of issues, includes some optimizations, and adds trophy support for the DLC. The first DLC for PS3, Broken Steel, will be available next Thursday, September 24th. That will be followed by the release of “Operation: Anchorage” and “The Pitt” on October 1st, and “Point Lookout” and “Mothership Zeta” on October 8th.
These dates are for English versions of the game. As soon as we have updates for other territories, we’ll let you know.
Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition
We are also pleased to announce that Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC) will be available at retail on Tuesday, October 13th. The Game of the Year edition includes Fallout 3 and all five DLCs. The discs will include the title updates you will need to play the DLC — so an online connection is not required.
The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will retail for $59.99 and the Games for Windows version will be available for $49.99.

Yay finally! A release date on the DLC, my hopes were for today but atleast we got a date! Wohoo! My lvl 20 character is parked just before a quest reward, eager to be on her way to lvl 30!
What I want to know is will our old PS3 game saves work with the GOTY edition
So for the 360, is there going to be a game disc and then a second disc with the DLC? (like Oblivion)
FINALLY.
Are those the worldwide release dates. I’m from australia eagerly awaiting the ps3 GOTY edition.
As noted, those are dates for English versions of the game.
What me and my mates want to know is will our old PS3 game saves work with the GOTY edition?
i am happy to finally hear this news, but i do have 1 question. Will there be any bundle deals on the DLC? say, all 5 for whatever price? and how much will they cost?
I ditto the thoughts of Doctor Syn
Will our our PS3 Game saves work with the GOTY edition? If so, you made ANOTHER $60.
But when you say english language, does that actually include the UK? because the whole of europe are PAL too.
Is there any chance of a GOTY collectors edition? or will the collectors edition continue to only include the standard edition? Thats what will determine if i get the GOTY or just download the updates.
Great!! still no hope for 1.1 or 1.6 patch for Poland, That means no DLC for us,not to mention lack of trophys:(( Hate you Bethesda!!!!
Is the GOTY will be available in French (Canada)version for XBOX 360 ???
Brilliant move putting the PS3 Game of the Year cover as the title pic. It got my attention. Is the DLC going to be 9.99 for each item PS3? (Canada too?) Furthermore will the game be 59.99 or 69.99 here – it seems to differ from publisher to publisher.
I have the same question as above, will our game saves from the old disc work with the new goty disc?
Hope so, really eager to have new missions and stuff, i luv the wasteland!!! deffo my fav game this gen and one of fav games ever
Wowzers thats one hardcore piece of box art. Its worth getting the GOTY edition just for that alone. Nice to have that extra bit of temptation to buy the FALLOUT 3 GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION
Thanks and congratulations Bethesda on reaching this point with another best seller.
Great!! still no hope for 1.1 or 1.6 patch for Poland, That means no DLC for us,not to mention lack of trophys:((
Whoooohoooooo
Now I can finally stop playing Oblivion GOTY
Cleaning my harddrive for Fallout 3 GOTY
GBaby yes your saves will work fine with the GOTY Edition of FALLOUT 3.
gstaff the magnificent has said it-is- SO!
So it is.
So…I suppose patch 1.7 (pc) is the last one? GOTY will be the definitive version and there will be no more patches? Please tell us…I wanna know If I will finally be able to start playing (year after release) or if I should wait a bit more.
Thanks, so much Bethesda! It’s been quite a while, but I knew you guys would eventually pull everything together!
Let’s hope next time around things are on a bit more of a level playing field, from both your perspective as devs, and ours as gamers!
What optimizations in particular were added to the PS3 version? Could you detail those a little bit?
Awesome! Can’t wait, thanks for coming through Bethsheda!
Yes, your old saves will work.
Also, the English versions of DLC are coming next week — so if you have the game in the UK, it should be available next week.
@ Sean Patch notes are here…

@Paul 1.7 is the most up to date patch for PC. At present, we have no announced plans for new updates.
Other than that, if I learn about updates in other territories, I’ll let you know.
Well I’ll be I guess they got them out…I can’t believe it.
YAAAY!!!
Glad to see you’re focused on selling more stuff instead of actually fixing the products you’ve already sold.
Thank you. I only played Fallout 3 for the first time 2 months ago and I’m hooked. As a PS3 owner, waiting this long for the DLC has been agonizing, so I can’t imagine how bad I would have felt had I bought Fallout 3 when it was first released. I was this close to giving up and just watching the gameplay on youtube. I really hope you make more Fallout games, Bethesda, you did an awesome job.
Great Success ! FOSE can now progress without “interruptions”
Finally.
Thanks Beth. =D
What is the pricing for each of the 5 DLCs as opposed to the GOTY Disc for the PS3, which I assume will have all 5 DLCs + the main game?
I’m weighing the benefits of instant gratification (yes, it’s been a long wait and I want it sooner than later) vs waiting it out and possibly getting a better bargain via GOTY disc. =)
Each DLC is $9.99.
Will it be possible to use the DLC english version to upgrade another language version?
Personally I wouldn’t wait for the italian translation as far as the DLC works anyway…
Thank you for the answer!
That’s not bad, since I already own a copy of the original game, going the DLC route for all 5 of the DLCs will cost me $49.95 + tax, which is less than the GOTY Disc for PS3, which will wind up bein $59.99.
Thanks for the info gstaff. I’m definitely looking forward to the Broken Steel release for the PS3 on 09/24 and all the subsequent DLC releases for the PS3 on 10/01 and 10/08… =)
I’ve got GotY preordered. Maybe I should grab the downloads instead? Do you know when the DLC would be available in Europe (or more specifically Sweden)?
Do you have the release date for Op. Anchorage and the pitt DLC on PS3 and will they be out before the goty edition is released?
All the release dates are posted above.
so ive got a question, i absolutely love steam and have been a fan for a long time. Ive bought all my games off steam and play on my comp (orange box, bioshock, all the goodies) so ive noticed in the past that steam sells certain games but doesnt sell the updated version of it or the downloads. I would love to buy fallout but i was just wondering if i could buy the GOTY version of it off steam or if id have to switch to the evil side of Games for windows. Because if im going to buy the game, I might as well get all the downloads with it for the same price. so is it going to be available on steam????
Hello,
I downloaded the upgrade for my Fallout 3 (PS3 version), and I Noticed that, after that, when I try to enter Arlington Library (to sell pre-war books) the game simply freezes, will there be a new patch to solve this issue?
Thank you.
I just s**t bricks down both legs.
how much will the DLC be for ps3
Personally I’m past caring about the DLC for the PS3 and have no interest in supporting a business model that excludes me because of the colour of my gaming hardware, but I do have a question I feel is important for the PS3 fans of the UK specifically.
What will the DLC cost on the UK version of The PS Store? It’s all well and good saying $9.99 but how does that translate across the pond? Other publishers 10 dollar offerings are currently costing UK PS3 users £7.19, which is almost 10% higher than the cost of 800 MS points. So the big issue here is are we going to be made to pay premium for the content we subsidised with our original game purchase but were denied access to for over nine months?
Will we see the DLC’s for PC @ Steam or it is better to forget that?
I – just like everyone – would like to receive an official statement about that, please.
I think they should come out with a 4 player online coop play in any future fallout games. I think that would be awesome cause it would make playing fallout way more fun
How will those who bought vanilla Fallout 3 on Steam be dealt with? Can we upgrade our existing copies of FO3 to the GOTY and how will this be done? Will you also be putting the addons on Steam?
QUICK QUESTION:
Will a saved game file from the original PS3 game/disc work with the Game of the Year edition?
Thanks – I want to buy the GOTY edition and trade in the original version (or pass it on to a friend), but want to make sure I don’t lose out on all that progress and the saved game files…
How much space will the dlc take on the harddrive of the PS3? Just curious.
How do I get the DLC for my PS3 this morning?
I’m on playstation store now, can’t see anything :s
When it’s up, we’ll let folks know.
@Shad, your saves should work fine.
In europe each DLC will cost 9,99€, so will pay 50€ for 5 DLC, and the GOTY version costs the same and includes the game (and it´s a disc, not a downloable software). So I sugest wait for the GOTY version in Europe. I only will pay this price for the DLC if there would be a better price, or something like a 2×1.
Europeans, wait for a few wekks and you´ll be awarded!!!!!
“When it’s up we’ll let folks know.”
????
It’s the 24th. Has been for about 12 hours (CST here). How will we know? Telepathy? Carrier pigeon? Leaving PS Store and logging back in every 30 seconds? Love the game. Would love to be able to say the wait was worth it for DLC but still waiting.
