What we’re playing

If you look at this week’s “what we’re playing” — there’s games you’d expect to see (like Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Forza 3, and Brütal Legend), but the game that’s taken the office by storm this week is Runic Games’ Torchlight. For more details on the game, visit Runic Games’ website.

Below is the rest of the games we’re playing. Feel free to share the games you’re playing. Have a great weekend!

  1. Yes TORCHLIGHT looks amazing and alot of fun. Will definitely be picking that one up soon.

Playing BORDERLANDS and enjoying the fps and rpg aspects. Its kind of like a lighter version of HELLGATE LONDON which i love and like playing a first person version of SUPER CONTRA or some other intense 1990s shooter.

Also enjoying the GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION of FALLOUT 3 and starting a new game of RISEN along with DRAKENSANG and GOTHIC III with the Community Patch.

Playing some FEAR 2 aswell which strangely enough plays and feels better at 1024x resolution. Cant believe how gorgeous it looks at that res. Am tempted to try out 800x resolution to really blast out the framerates :D

  2. Want both Borderlands and torchlight, looks like games that can keep you hooked for hours. And I guess Torchlight is the nearest I can come Diablo 3 at this time.

  3. Nothing but Ballad of Gay Tony for this weekend. Maybe Call of Duty: WaW, and Borderlands.

Although Borderlands is pretty short and it seems content isn’t as randomly generated as Gearbox said it would be.

I beat all the main and side quests in about 5 days. Only thing left to do is level up and complete challenges, which to be honest are just rather mind numbing at this point. Mostly just killing a certain number of enemies with different weapons. I wish they would have put more thought into the challenges, to make them more fun.

  4. Borderlands reminds me of the “post-Searing Ascalon” levels of Guild Wars. I’m playing it on the PC.

I’m also enjoying Batmans, and just got two games I’d never heard of for my birthday (thanks, Kateri!) so I’ll look forward to playing Time Gentlemen, Please and Ben There, Dan That.

Yea i totally agree Carey. It feels as if there could have just been more variety in everything from enemies to landscape to even npcs. Combat is nice though with a fast tense pace. Hopefully a patch will do..something? Guess its back to HELLGATE LONDON and Bethesda rpgs for my immersive variety.

  6. Well, if Torchlight didn’t look like it was co- produced by Cartoon Network’s game studio, it would probably be cool. Sorry, just because it plays like Diablo II doesn’t mean it’s great, the overall cheesiness of it kills it.

Playing Oblivion and Tomb Raider Anniversary :)

Oh man! Am definitely getting this now! Cant wait to decapitate a zombie canine that looks like COURAGE THE COWARDLY DOG and then yell out STUPID DOG!!!

Still having a blast today chopping more heads off this time with GOTHIC III skeletons and porcupine arrowing zombies. Great rpg with the Community Patch. So glad they got it fixed.

  8. I am really enjoying Torchlight and Borderlands. Me and my friend play Borderlands MP, and I play Torchlight when he’s not around. I made a Vanquisher and its 32, but already has 43% crit and her Ricochet crits for about 12k right now, haha. I just started the infinite dungeon. I also play a medley of Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 music instead of the original soundtrack. The original music reminded me so much of the Tristram and Night Elf music I coldnt resist!

I play a medic Soldier in Borderlands, and use Rockets/shotty to heal a SMG/Sniper Elemental Siren. Works great.

I’m glad you guys are enjoying them as well !!!

  9. Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to PRINCESS STOMPER! Mightiest of Moderators and most wonderful of wonderfulest BUNNY RABBITS!!! YAAAY!

May you have many more years with many carrot candles to burn on an endless field of bunny birthday cakes!

  10. Just got TORCHLIGHT and wowzers it frigging delievers in gameplay and atmosphere. Alot of fun and was surprised it was by the same guys who created DIABLO DIABLO 2 and the expansion pack LORD OF DESTRUCTION. Playing a Destroyer with a little kitty cat called..BAST.

It also goes to show one doesnt need a ton of music to set a strong proper ambience. Time to temporarily reduce my rpg music folders and feel the drama of familarity. Thank you TORCHLIGHT for showing me the way.

  11. Ha. I have been obsessed with Torchlight since last weekend and just did the Boss fight earlier today. What an addictive little time-killer this game is.

Ooo lucky you getting to play that on Halloween weekend for the first time Leydenne :D

I just picked up DRAGON AGE ORIGINS today and so far its living up to all the hype and then some. The spoken conversations are mystery novel mesmerising full of intrigue and double crosses galore. I was playing for a full two hours or so just talking to npcs never getting bored that i had yet to do any kind of combat. Very professional voice acting. Its obvious BioWARE worked very very hard on this title.

  13. [Well.. but why isn’t anyone playing Risen ???
I mean guys … why on earth ?

    well ?

Because alot of people played it already including mees my selves and eyes. Hee hee hee…

Great game RISEN and another one with some cool conversation and storyline without being totally focused on combat. Combat could use a slight more tweaking though. I found myself frustrated in the monastery when i clearly hit yet my opponent was unaffected but they were able to hit me at times from afar. Definitely will be replaying it in the future. Right now though am getting my DRAGON AGE ORIGINS thrills.

  14. man i wish i could have been playing with you guys when boderlands came out cuase i was playing solo for a good half of it…
