What we’re playing

I’ve always heard how massively popular Monster Hunter is in Japan, and with Capcom’s release of Monster Hunter Tri on Wii this week, it appears it’s catching quickly in the US. Between this, Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M, it’s going to be a great summer for playing Wii games.

Have you joined the Monster Hunter craze? Let us know. If not, you can still let us know the games you’re obsessing over.

Michael Musick: Dusted off the Wii to play Monster Hunter Tri and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Also playing Sword of Fargoal and Across Age on the iPad.

Alex Utting: Monster Hunter Tri. Monster Hunter Tri. And Monster Hunter Tri.

Michael Lattanzia: Monster Hunter Tri, Monster Hunter Tri, and more Monster Hunter Tri. Oh, and did I mention Monster Hunter Tri? Maybe some Lord of the Rings Online as well.

Aaron Mitschelen: LotRO, Sakura Wars, MAAAAAAAYBE Monster Hunter Tri, if it’ll get that guy in the next row of cubes to pipe down about it!

Peter Sokal: Monster Hunter Tri and Chaos Rising.

Ian Rogers: Silent Hunter 3, Fallout 3, and Oblivion.

Pete Hines: God of War III & lots of soccer.

Amber Hinden: Final Fantasy XIII, The Saboteur, and Lord of Ultima.

Steve Cornett: Final Fantasy XIII.

Andrew Scharf: Parasite Eve, FFXIII, Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes on DS.

Matt Grandstaff: Deadly Premonition and Heavy Rain.

Tom Lassanske: F.E.A.R. 2 and Army of Two.

Rob Havlovick: NHL 2010: Taking the Caps to the cup!

Caedmon Somers: NHL 08.

Chris Rodriguez: MLB 10: The Show, Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Madden 10, and Uncharted 2.

Alistair Hatch: If I get a chance to I’ll be playing Splinter Cell Conviction and no doubt end up having a bit of time on Bad Company 2.

Devin Winters: Just Cause 2 and Mass Effect 2.

Jeff Senita: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Dan Ross: Final Fantasy XIII, New Super Mario Bros Wii, and Dawn of War II – Chaos Rising.

  1. Wow checked out the Joystiq vid and it looked more like it was the monsters doing the hunting :D Run human! Runnn!

The graphics and animation are reality altering. I havent seen such life like movements in my life. Gary Noonan Bethesda Animater extrodinaire must be wishing he was let loose to create dragons like the ones in MONSTER HUNTER.

Just picked up MASS EFFECT 2 and finished downloading tons of free DLCS BioWARE and EA have made available. So its gonna be my first foray into a sci-fi rpg in ages :D

    Also going back to
RISEN to check out the latest patch.

FALLOUT 3 with some modded FOOK 2 v1.1 magnificence.

Carmageddon on DosBox while the movie soundtrack to DEATHPROOF is playing.

And many many more games not to mention my first viewing of AVATAR on dvd.

  2. I’m so frustrated that Monster Hunter Tri is only for the Wii. I’m a big fan of the series, but can’t afford to buy a Wii right now, so instead I’ve returned to playing Freedom Unite on my PSP. Looking forward to the next Monster Hunter PSP release later this year.

I hope all of you playing Tri enjoy it!

  3. I’m interested in “Monster Hunter Tri”, but I have to pay tuition out of pocket. As a result I can only get one game, and I’ve set my sights on “Red Dead Redemption”.

That being said I’m planing on getting the following games once my tax return comes in.

    Mario Galaxy 2
    Monster Hunter Tri
GTA: Stories from Liberty City (PS3)
    3D Dot Game Heros
And a few choice others that I missed during the year due to my education expenses.

Of course for now I’m still playing Oblivion and Fallout 3. They just don’t get old, even though I’ve had them both since their respective release dates.

  4. Demon’s Souls – REALLY pissing me off now….
    Bad company 2 – PC
WoW – Some friends dragged me back into it :'( I’m addicted again. HELP!

  5. It’s refreshing to see the Wii get an injection of hardcore games at last, even if two of them are first-party franchises.

  6. FALLOUT 3 with the greatness of the DLCs.
SUPREME COMMANDER 2 so fast-so savage!
DIVINTY II EGO DRACONIS wowee! This is great rpg juice!
    MASS EFFECT 2- Its..astonishing..
