This week two entire different fantasy games — 3D Dot Game Heroes (trailer above) and Mount & Blade Warband — are getting plenty of playtime from our developers. In addition to these titles, folks continue to play the Halo: Reach beta while there’s still time left. And speaking of time, it’s a matter of time before everyone gets their paws on Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption!
Let us know the games you’re playing, and what you’re looking forward to…
Shane Liesegang: 3D Dot Game Heroes, plus delving back into the Marathon trilogy (possibly my favorite game series) from the start.
Jon Paul Duvall: Mount & Blade: Warband
Dane Olds: 3d Dot Game Heroes and Warpgate.
Joe Owens: Bayonetta.
Nick Heller: Currently playing Alan Wake, FIFA 10, and Fight Night Round 4.
Jeff Browne: Mount & Blade Warband.
Brent Krische: Going to the hospital in Wolfenstein and taking on the Dark Star in Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story.
Mike Dulany: Super Street Fighter 4 ( It’s time to oil up ).
Michael Musick: Metro 2033 and Monster Hunter Tri.
Nick Breckon: Splinter Cell: Conviction.
Amber Hinden: LEGO Indiana Jones and Rollercoaster Tycoon 2.
Colin Doyle: FFXIII.
Ricardo Gonzalez, Humbly Bundled: Playing through World of Goo and Penumbra. Also, putting the final touches on Ultima IV.
Craig Lafferty: Waiting for Red Dead Redemption.
Aaron Mitschelen: Record of the Agarest War, LotRO, and Borderlands.
Greg Hounsom: Alan Wake, Sol-Feace – Mega CD (yes very retro!)
Matt Grandstaff: Madden 10, Mass Effect, and Splinter Cell: Conviction.
Todd Howard: beating Gstaff in Madden.
Alistair Hatch: Lost Planet 2, Alan Wake, Reach beta, and the last game of football for the season.
Joel “Needs Food Badly” Burgess: Nethack, Mount & Blade, and TF2.
Nate Purkeypile: Preparing for the TF2 Studio Rumble Highlander tournament.
Michael Lattanzia: Monster Hunter Tri (mostly online since I’m nearly finished with all the offline missions), Lord of the Rings Online, and 3D Dot Game Heroes which is actually quite fun (though I still need to sit down and create my own personal hero).
Orin Tresnjak: 3D Dot Game Heroes.
Timothy Beggs: God of War III, Serious Sam HD, and Red Faction: Guerilla
George Churchill: Left 4 Dead 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
Todd Vaughn: Little Big Planet, Uncharted 2, and God of War 3.
Gary Powell: Nier, Duke Nukem 3D XBLA, Final Fight: Double Impact, Halo: Reach beta, and Sins Of A Solar Empire.
Sam Bernstein: Halo: Reach beta and, what’s this? Steam? Steam on my Mac? How’d that get there? Portal is free you say? My word!
Ken Barner: I haven’t played a videogame recently b/c my schedule’s tight. I don’t like to dabble in games; I prefer to play in marathon sessions. I started replaying Jade Empire the day after I rented it, played through Bioshock and Mass Effect over a weekend on a friend’s 360, and stayed up all night to beat a copy of Ghostbusters sent in by Gamefly.
until amazon hurrys up and send me my red dead redemption, ill still be playing fallout 3, still
I will be continuing in on 3D Dot Game Heroes tonight with a cold beer.
The game is incredibly well done, and just down right fun. Anyone else pick it up here?

Just checked out the trailer and it looks pretty cool. For some reason the trailer gives me the impression its full of symbolism. Too bad theres not a PC version since am strictly into PC games due to finances.

I had a friend like that. I would spend the night at his place on saturdays and he would spend all night beating a game he just picked up in China town. By the time we got to sleep it was five in the morning and next thing i know its seven and his rear end is getting up like he slept all night while am like what the frigging heck i just dosed off two minutes ago???
At the moment am playing:
FALLOUT 3
DAWN OF WAR 2 CHAOS RISING
CARMAGEDDON on Dosbox
@Hellbishop
The game is ALL about symbolism… They make fun of a TON of other games, including games made by ATLUS themselves like Demons Souls.
If you get the chance, I would definitely recommend it. Specially if you have been gaming for a while, the old kick back jokes are really fun.
Recently started a game of Fallout 3 again and am making different choices this time.

Me too. Usually i play the good guy but now am the walking judgement of desolation laying waste to everything. Kind of like Godzilla a nuclear punishment upon mankind. Just visited Megaton today after bombing it a week ago for the first time and it truly is an eerie unnatural feeling seeing all the destruction. Poor robot deputy got his circuits scrambled good and Mickey..Mickey..
Starting to get a hankering for some TES 2 DAGGERFALL on Dosbox tonight or sunday as the dungeons whisper my name in echoes from long cold nights in the 1990s.
I recently got back into Fallout 3 after reading up on some Fallout New Vegas news and discovering it’s Collector’s Edition.
I’m trying to get my Platinum Trophy on Fallout 3 before New Vegas releases (gotta buy the DLC as well)
I am so glad that some of you guys are playing mount & blade. That games got some problems, but the complexities of recruiting and maintaining a warband is so engaging and rewarding. And then the combat is so awesomely overwhelming. When my group was small, I would ask my war group to wait and I would go and damage the enemy and route them. Now I just find a hillside and yell formation commands.
The progression of weapons and armor that I can afford seems more satisfying than in other games to me. In other games it seems like I can only afford a cheap weapon in a store, and by the time I save up for a good one, I’ve already looted one off a combatant. In mount & blade I’m in the store saying “man that’s a nice axe, but if I buy it, I might not be able to feed everybody.” That’s the perfect ambivalence for me.
I’m glad some of ya’ll are playing Mount & Blade cause it’s got some ideas that are really satisfying and seemingly compatible for layering upon games in the future.
This is one of the many reasons i love bethesda. It seems to be ran by a bunch of game nerds that really just like good games and not some douches who just like money. Stay golden bethesda stay golden…
Waiting for those Falcom games Xseed just announced, about time they received localization.
Wowzers just found out the extreme beutifying power of Anistropic Filtering after visting Tweakguides.com and looking up FALLOUT 3. Taking heed of their advice i pushed my luck and set Anistropic Filtering to a max of 15. Oh my goodness what a difference! Its like playing a game that looks like something out of a PHOTOSHOP magazine cover with beyond belief detail. I did turn down or off a few other settings to keep framerates high though.
Also playing RISE AND FALL CIVILIZATIONS AT WAR which came out way back in 2006 and is now available as freeware at GamersHell.com. Great game so far and pretty hillarious tearing down a tall to the clouds guard tower and see the enemy troops fall to their death ha ha
Bethesda should hire the M&B guys for porting the horse combat into the next Elder Scrolls game.
I would be playing Warband (loved M&B) but so many great console games, and I’m delaying a computer upgrade (replacement) until TESV is announced (my general benchmark for when it is time to buy into then-current high end parts).
M&B Warband is a fantastic game. I’m happy you’re playing it, both the devs and readers.
I love the raw, physical combat in Mount & Blade just like in Oblivion. The feel and accuracy in Oblivion’s combat is amazing.
Saw some videos of Mount & Blade on YouTube. Combat and animations look very smooth and fluid and the rpg elements are spectacular. This is what i was expecting from games like the TOTAL WAR series. Its like playing the ultimate evolutionary sequel to the 1990s strategy game POWERMONGER.
Just finished the DAWN OF WAR 2 CHAOS RISING expansion for the third time. They really did a spectacular job with allowing the player have a major influence on the outcome of decisions made while not making him the center of attention. Every ending i’ve gone through has been different in some minor or major ways. Very nice and reminds me the many endings of TES 2 DAGGERFALL and FALLOUT 3.
Playing at the moment:
FALLOUT 3 with a technology loving good character. Going to soak in the sci-fi ambience with this one and save the horror angle for my evil character whose taking a break.
TES 2 DAGGERFALL on Dosbox
