In case you missed it, our very own Nick Breckon participated in an Idle Thumbs panel/reunion at this year’s PAX. Somewhere between discussing Far Cry 2 and listening to The Wizard, there was a lengthy discussion on a tabletop game called Die Weinhändler. Since then, Nick’s bought a copy of the game, and if he has his way, by next week it’ll be the only game anyone is playing. Or maybe not… Halo: Reach releases next week.
Here’s the rundown of the games we’re playing. Feel free to let us know the video games (or tabletop games) you’re playing.
Nick Breckon: Die Weinhändler. You can not händle it.
Liam Wade: Starcraft 2 and Red Dead Redemption.
Gary Noonan: Oblivion GOTY (PC) w/ MANY mods.
Jordan Ziegler: NCAA Football 11, Mario Party 8, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XIII, Mass Effect 2, and Fallout 3.

Nate Purkeypile: TF2, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Mirror’s Edge on the iPhone and a billion games I bought during one of the Steam sales.
Jeff Senita: StarCraft 2, Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor (iPhone), and Angry Birds (iPhone).
Gary Powell: Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity, Fallout 2, and Kane and Lynch 2. Waiting patiently for Dead Rising 2!

Brett Douville, Back to the Wii: Little King’s Story, Metroid: Other M, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and No More Heroes 2.

Ryan Wiltshire: Limbo and Dead Rising 2 Case Zero.
Ken Barner: I’ve played some SC2 but it makes my i7 Bloomfield overheat and crash. I’ll also be playing Fallout 3 GOTY, Oblivion GOTY, and Mass Effect 2.
Pete Hines: NCAA Football 11, Red Dead, Castle Crashers, Oregon Trail (iPhone), and Carcassonne (iPhone).
Matt Daniels: City of Heroes, Warhammer 40K (the tabletop minis game) and Dungeons & Dragons 4E.
Peter Sokal: NHL 11 Be-A-Pro and EASHL, it’s almost that special time of year!

Matt Weil: League of Legends.
Aaron Mitschelen: Disgaea 3, Borderlands.
Max Cameron: Flower, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game, and Halo: Reach when it comes out this Tuesday.
Orin Tresnjak: Messing with the XNA4 beta. Catching up on Red Dead Redemption. Trying not to spend all weekend playing Minecraft.
Andrew Boswell: Red Dead Redemption, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

Mass Effect 2 and a modded Oblivion GOTY (Graphics mostly).
[Gary Noonan: Oblivion GOTY (PC) w/ MANY mods. ]
Oh you forgot the part about creating most of them
[Gary Powell: Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity, ]
I just picked that up today and am looking forward to see if its mind boggling rep is everything it is after hearing good things while researching ELEMENTAL WAR OF MAGIC for gameplay tips on Youtube.
Games am playing on my new Quad core rig with a HIS Radeon 5770 are-
ELVEN LEGACY
ELEMENTAL WAR OF MAGIC
SINS OF A SOLAR EMPIRE TRINITY
COMMAND AND CONQUER RED ALERT 3
SACRED 2
KILLING FLOOR
ZOMBIE DRIVER
MORROWIND GOTY ED to give my original 2002 disc and expansions a rest.
OBLIVION GOTY ED still testing out the new computer so no mods yet.
FALLOUT 3 GOTY ED with plenty of movie soundtracks or if using my Trittron Ax Pro headphones the stunning Inon Zur original score.
It seems that one person in Bethesda hasn’t forgotten about the Elder Scrolls series. I’m surprised they even remember they made those games!
I don’t mean to sound rude or anything, but seriously what the duck? My Oblivion is on life support (or mod support, to be precise) for the last 2 years!
For me this weekend it’s: ME2, Oblivion with FCOM and trying to set-up my music gear for hilarity to ensue.
@Gary Noonan
Make sure that you try out (if you haven’t already) Tears of The Fiend mod. It’s one of the best quest mods around!
Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale, Dragon Age Origins and Final Fantasy XIII.
I highly recommend Recettear. It’s surprisingly fun to be honest. Almost addictive.
Company of Heroes Online, StarCraft 2 and Demon’s Souls
I was playing Diablo 2: LOD, as a Necromancer… but now I’ve got a new game to play: Shoot the crazy assholes who lost my bloody glasses! I ordered them in June and ordered a pair of sunglasses with them and all they had were the sunglasses!!
Microsoft Windows 3D Pinball “Space Cadet”. Training day by day… not very successfully though…
Oh, where have the days I was gaining 6 million points each time gone? Where?! :’(
@Matt Daniels: Warhammer 40K (the tabletop minis game)
W00T!!!!
I’m trying to finish Mafia II at the moment, but the asinine autosave feature just makes me want to hurt things. Why can’t I just save when I damn please? Total BS in my opinion….. other than that it’s mostly hours in the dark with the TES CS for me…. o.o and nachos!
In the mod community’s defense, I have NOT ever made a mod for Oblivion. Only Morrowind.
Perhaps I should….
Starcraft 2
Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale
And some Counter Strike: Source
Almost finished Vampire TMB, and also in the mood for some Mass Effect 2 DLC
I’m playing the original Mount & Blade to see what all the fuss is about. All the folks on the Two Worlds forum constantly claim it’s better than Oblivion. I’ve yet to think the two games are comparable and it definitely pales in comparison to the polish and granduer of Oblivion.
Still a very enjoyable game.

Verily Mr Noonan..verily
Still makes my blood scream with all consuming horror on a cellular level whenever the titan of devastation, the thing beyond description known only as the Devourer rises from the Seyda Neen depths in all its monolithic menace.
A couple of terrifying OBLIVION mod favorites which shall be enjoyed once again as Halloween approaches are-
The Hellish Armory by Pepsi- I think its only available on Filefront these days.
The Haunted House by WillieSea
Daggerfall Memories Return To Cybiades by Deathless Aphrodite
Martigen’s Monster Mod
And many more.
Oh and forgot to mention am also playing STARCRAFT 2 alongside what is turning out to be a fun strategy rpg game called Elven Legacy eventhough the sound effects could be better. Also just found out the joys of playing FALLOUT 3 with no music. Talk about some really creepy natural soundscapes of a dying world. Makes me wonder what Bethesda has cooked up for TES V.
Oh and for those interested the above mentioned Devourer is from Gary Noonan’s MORROWIND ADVANCED mod.
@Ken Barner
Have you tried locking the framerate to 60? It prevents overheating videocards, possibly CPUs too?
Well händled, Nïck Brëcken.
Yeah? I bet you’re also playing TES: V >:,(
jokes jokes, but really.. I want news on it
Been playing some Halo 3 along with a bit of Modern Warfare 2.. don’t hate >:O
Just bought the LAST copy of Oblivion GOTY for PS3 in Moscow (Russia)!!! So when I’ll get a PS3 I will play it ’till death… just kidding, but I will play it for a looong periods of time on my new 52″ Sony Bravia HDTV!! Oblivion will look gorgeous on a big screen, especially because the PS3 version has way improved graphics over the 360 version.
