One of the most commonly asked questions Nick and I receive is, “Where can I get some of the cool swag you give out at events?” While we don’t always have leftovers to use for giveaways, we were recently able to secure some pretty cool items for our games… and it’s all for a good cause.
As many of you already know, over Labor Day weekend, Company of Heroes Online lead designer Brian Wood was tragically killed in a car accident while saving the lives of his wife and unborn child. Since then, we’ve seen tons of support for Brian’s family from within game development community, and we decided that we’d like to help out, too. Over the past couple months, we’ve started working on collecting items to auction off on eBay — with all proceeds of the auctions going to The Brian Wood Memorial Trust.
Beginning today, these are the items we’re auctioning off:
- One-of-a-kind RAGE Framed/Signed Print
- Fallout: New Vegas Neon Sign
- Todd Howard-signed Vault Boy Bobblehead
- Massive 10 ft Brink Print (signed by the team at Splash Damage)
- Team-signed copy of Fallout: New Vegas (Xbox 360)
- Team-signed Fallout 3 Poster
- Team-signed Fallout: New Vegas Poster (NCR Ranger)
- Team-signed Fallout: New Vegas Lithograph (All Roads)
- Fallout: New Vegas NCR T-Shirt
All auctions are running now and will end in seven days. This is your chance to get some cool, limited stuff in time for the holidays. To those that win, we thank you for helping contribute to Brian’s family.
Update: Despite what the listing says, we will ship to winners outside of the US.
Although eBay only lists U.S. shipping, would you folks ship to Canada?
Yes, we’ll ship there.
To sunnier, peaceful avenues. Excelsior.
much sympathy for your lost coworker. thankfully his wife and child survived – heroes are made in moments with legacies to last a lifetime. it seems that once again a good person has been lost to the carelessness and stupidity of others (and they, too, paid a price: two died in the impacting vehicle). if your friends are doing something dangerously stupid, tell them.
well, i might have a crack at the NCR shirt… and are there pics of the neon sign when on? gosh, i’m gonna go broke for good causes after the Venture Bros Gulf cleanup auction!
Wonderful idea, Bethesda!
I’m definitely bidding on the game copy since I haven’t even got it yet! (I know, shame on me)
I would love some swag like that, and to a truly tragic cause deserving of our support too. Unfortunately I don’t use ebay and I’m in the UK, but if you can find any more swag I’d happily donate towards this fund!
Alternatively is there a Pay Pal donate button I can use?
@DarkOne the link to the Brian Wood Memorial has a donate button.
Thanks!
Found it and donated. Very tragic.
Okies, put bids on all the posters. Should raise the price some for the auctions 🙂
If you have any TES swag you want to let me know about you know my email addy!
(My home office needs something on the walls!!)
In my excitement at the cool stuff that you were making available, I hadn’t actually read the article in full at the time that I asked about shipping to Canada, and I realise that as a result my first comment probably came off as a little callous. For that, I apologise. He sounded like a very good fellow. My condolences.
FYI… I’m trying to get in touch with eBay about international shipping. Stay tuned.
This has to be one of the most sentimental things I’ve seen a game developing company do for someone that didn’t even work for them.Great idea guys, that’s pretty cool of you to donate all of the proceeds and pay for shipping. It’s comforting to know there are still decent human beings out there willing to go the extra mile to help others in need.
Wow, great idea. It really is amazing how far-reaching within the industry this has become. Placed a bid on the signed copy of New Vegas, but I second the need for some signed Elder Scrolls goodness. I’d bid on all of that.
This will all sell really well I’m sure and raise plenty of money for this great cause, and if anything I’m interested in stays below $200 I’ll definitely bid on something. But I have to ask, why not put signed copies of Fallout 3, Oblivion and Morrowind up there? I’m sure those attract plenty of bids, judging by how well the Fallout 3 poster is doing. The signed copy of New Vegas is great but that’s signed by the Obsidian team, and I’m sure a game signed by the Bethesda team is far more attractive to many of your fans. Just a friendly suggestion. 🙂
You guys STILL can’t get yourselves to part with one of those 7ft. tall BOS statues, huh? =)
Tragic loss! Thank you Bethesda for doing this….
I have a quick question about the items. If i win any of them are you going to include some form of official certificate, stating that it is an original Bethesda-issued merchandise, noting for what cause a particular item is being sold? Or something in this sense…If i win multiple items, can include as many certificates if possible of course?
Thank you very much for the info!
Condolences to Brain Wood’s family, stay strong!
EvilSelf…
This is truly an amazing thing you guys did. Really something special. I’ve written an article on my blog and hopefully I can send some of my interested viewers to these auctions and get the prices up. Good luck with the auctions.

I want RAGE!
A good idea I would like to support ! My condolences to his wife and unborn child. The Brink poster is mine….. I dare you to bid more….
I’ll let you have it, Blowfish 😉
Think it’s going to be a bit too big to get framed and hung up on my walls!
Hey Beth blogger, can you please answer my question whether the items will come with some form of certificate from Bethesda?
Thanks much!
