Following our spring BFG press event, a flock of Skyrim previews have now come to roost on the internet. Journalists got a long look at many facets of the game, and were also handed some brand-new screenshots to check out.

Stretch your wings with articles from the following outlets — we’ll update the post as more swoop in.

After the break, check out Gamespot and IGN’s interviews with Todd Howard.

  1. Skyrim looks amazing Bethesda i cant wait tell november. I have already got my holidays booked to play this epic game. Keep up th good work and keep bringing us these top games.

  2. I’ve noticed that all the footage has been on the 360. Any plans to release PS3 or PC footage? Will all platforms look and play the same? Will all platforms be on an equal playing field?

    Looks fantastic! Can’t wait!

  3. My allegiance lies with Bethesda. Through the wrath of Ur, falling of the dragonfires, and soon the rise of Dovahkiin. For Tamriel!

  4. Bethesda I love you, I truly do. But why did you have to announce this game so early? I am possibly the most excited I have ever been for any game, and I have to wait until November. NOVEMBER. This is so far away I may actually break down and cry.

Next time, for the sake of my sanity, please announce your new game a week before it’s release. This is just long enough I think ;)

  5. I can’t wait for this game at all!!! Everything that you’ve done sounds amazing, and I can’t wait to be an archer! Of course, I’m going to have to go through the game and create a warrior, destructive mage, healing mage, etc. like I did in Oblivion. Plus, with the new changes, it will be even more replayable! BTW, does anyone know if they’ll have anything pirate related, such as cutlass swords and ships?

  6. I was a true pro gamer, and i left the video games world because of life problems.
And 11.11.11 will be my return’s date!!

  7. Skyrim will totally be GOTY. The only competitor is Mass Effect 3, but you can’t compare them. Every TES game is a gargantuous product of at least half a decade of heartfilled hard work, affecting and changing the RPG market, raising the bar every time. Mass Effect is awesome, but those 30 hours can never compare to a huge free-roaming world you could spend 300 hours in on a single playthrough! Also, Mass Effect doesn’t feel as important and special since there’s going to be another one in two years anyway.

  8. Im ready to fight this dragon with some awesome armour and hidden power rings and stolen epic swords. Invisible Im going sneak up like some bilbo baggins and steal all the dragons treasures. ;p

  9. I remember that one scene where you can attack Sheogorath and he teleports you to the edge of the atmosphere where you can descend all the way until you hit the ground. With the new engine being used in Skyrim, I imagine that areas such as the sky may become explorable.

  10. So looking forward to this game. I can’t believe that Oblivion is five years old already, still having tonnes of fun with it to this day. I have every faith that bethesda will make yet another time sink for me to lost myself in :P

Oh and here’s a prediction – Within one month there will be a Dragonborn race mod’ (Dragonborn meaning the race within D&D)

  11. Personally I feel like Deus Ex: Human Revolution and iD’s own RAGE will compete more favorably than Bioware’s effort.

Of coarse ME3 is probably launching close to Skyrim whereas Deus Ex and RAGE launch in the fall.

Mass Effect 3 however does seem to be on the right track.

For other IP’s sake I hope Bethesda knocks Skyrim out of the part.

  12. The Khajiit look fantastic. Very fierce and powerful. Much more of a predator look instead of the house cat look of previous Elder Scrolls chapters. Will definitely be playing them for the very first time. Orcs also look spectacular and alot more like the noble looking Orcs in TES 2 DAGGERFALL or at least the ones in the royal courts :D Armor and weapons look high quality amazing like something a Modder would have created after SKYRIM’s release.

    Thanks for the advertising rush!

  13. Joystiq says the level cap is 25…. is that some misinformation, or is it true? I recall you guys saying a few months back, several times in fact, that there would be no level cap, that it would just get significantly harder to level the higher you got.

  14. Their refering to other games level caps ie Fallout 3 with Broken Steel. Skyrim lets you level til 50 which is a soft cap.

From there you can go up to a certain “mathematical” or something cap which their still deciding on. Probably 70.

  15. Why is it that every time I use the favorites menu to switch a spell or a weapon, the game pauses?I’m sorry, but isn’t that worse than Oblivion’s hotkey system?Sure Oblivion only had eight hotkeys, but it didn’t pause the game every freaking time I wanted to switch to a different spell. So now you’re telling me instead of pressing one simple button to use something or switch to something, I have to press one button, let the list come up, scroll through it to find what I’m looking for, and then a press another button.Seems to me like it would just slow things down, especially if I’m playing as a mage and I need to switch spells all the time.

  17. Can’t wait. Btw, with all the changes to the engine and tech you guys made – Can we climb up ladders without going to a loading screen now?

  18. now, there has been a lot of diffrent v iews on wether its going to be online(which im pleading it is) or not, could someone please confirm or deny this???

  19. I hope the guards don’t automatically know what crimes you commit and exactly where to find you when you commit them. That was a real problem for me on Oblivion. I mean come on, they might as well have psychic powers, they know exactly where you are when you steal things or kill people, even if there are no witnesses.

  20. looks pretty bad arss but does anyone know if there’s still character creator? I…i just don’t play at ma best if I’m not an orc :/

  21. Honestly, I expect this to be the absolute deepest, richest, best scripted game I’ve ever played. As of now that belongs to Oblivion. In fact, the Skyrim trailer is the best I’ve ever seen for a game period. Beautifully done.
