  1. You guys really deserve it. I know there wasn’t too much competition this year, but even if the next 10 biggest RPGs in gaming where announced and demoed at E3 you still would have won.

    Great work!

  2. Should have won Best of E3! Bethesda has been leading the entire industry for quite some time, in my opinion.

Also, I second asking for announcement of the Collectors Edition! Make it something ridiculously big and awesome. I want something really cool for the next installment in my favorite game series!

  3. Congrats, you guys at Bethesda really deserve this. Loved the E3 footage, can’t wait for the game. Keep up the great work.

PS: Still waiting for the answers to the fan question, is that going to happen anytime soon?

  4. I’m not as excited for this chapter of The Elder Scrolls, as I was for the last two.

Lack of Spellmaking, Instanced Cities (which means no flying, no levitation), “1 piece suits” of armor (excluding boots and gloves, I know… I know) and too heavy a focus on accessibility has me more than skeptical. And that’s just the stuff I know of right now.

What’s next: Not being able to jump? Yellow exclamation marks above quest givers?

These are exaggerations for now, but Morrowinders would have thought you were crazy if you told them they wouldn’t have medium armor, levitation, throwing weapons, or spellmaking.

I don’t know what Bethesda’s doing… but for TES’s sake, I hope it pays off.

  5. I’m glad that Skyrim won the best RPG at X-Play, but why are there so many people saying negative things about Mass Effect?

I know it will be focused on battle but this doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to explore and do other things… I enjoyed ME and ME2, does this make me weird? IF so, then so be it!

  6. @ Daniel Phoenix Morrowind /=/ The Elder Scrolls

    Daggerfall was more impressive.

Anyways out of many individuals I think Todd Howard knows exactly what he is doing, although his team brings me doubts. He’s just one man of coarse, you have to consider the team. And if this is the same team from Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3?

Color me not impressed at all.

But Skyrim looks like a good RPG. And no their not selling out or this isn’t any less of an “RPG.” Otherwise we haven’t seen a true RPG since Wasteland. And that was the 80s.

Also each RPG isn’t the same. There’s gains and tradeoffs. This goes for every game. Things like a levitation spell has always gone against game mechanics and balance such as getting around or the predicted pace of such. That doesn';t mean it has to be stripped forever. But there needs to be a way to make it better.

The UI and things like inventory is a good example. Instead of taking the easy road and ditching it as Bioware did with Mass Effect 2 Bethesda went to refining it instead and making it as it should be wile keeping the eye-candy and depth some RPGers(Not all) may want.

Other things like TES’s Attributes never had too much depth, so cutting them out is basically amounting to nothing. It’s just shrugworthy. Bethesda needs to refine them and have actual gameplay use for them.

And yes stats should have good context rather than just being there so an individual can feel high and mighty that they may be superior than a non-RPG gamer just because their wasting their lives memorizing an entertainment form.

While I’m writing this, I’ll also take the time to agree with J.E. Sawyer. These are just “games” guys. Play them when your bored. But get back to real life afterwards. There’s much to do there.

  7. I don’t know if there are multipule breeds of horse, but that one looks more like a draft horse than a riding horse (based upon hoof size and bulk of muscle), which would be slower and more tempermental, it looks great, but I hope there are more breeds.

Also, what’s going on with Old World Blues, you said June which is not likely now that it’s the 21, so could we at least get an estimated release date?

  8. Congratulations, you guys looked like you deserved it.

I can’t wait to preorder my copy! All I need is the PC system requirements and a collector’s edition announcement. Any chance we could get an ETA? ;)
