Brink Title Update Today, DLC Next Week!!

We’re excited to announce the final release date for Brink: Agents of Change. The content will be available this coming Wednesday, August 3rd, on Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network, and Steam. As long as you download Agents of Change during the first two weeks it becomes available, you’ll always be able to play it for FREE. If you don’t download in the first two weeks, it’ll cost $9.99 (or 800 Microsoft Points)… so be sure to get it early.

In addition to Agents of Change, we’ve also been hard at work on a comprehensive new title update for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 versions of Brink. The update is already live on Xbox LIVE and PSN. Below are some of the highlights – if you’re looking for the full changelog, you can find that at the very end of this post.

Most importantly, this update brings a host of additional networking improvements and optimisations to Brink multiplayer. These will make your online experience smoother and more consistent on both Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network, so you’ll be able to have better quality multiplayer matches on both services.

Next up is Brink’s AI, which is also receiving a whole bunch of tweaks. For starters, your AI teammates are getting new objective priorities across the board, so they’ll be more likely to go after Core Objectives and will find Command Posts a little bit less appealing. AI characters on the attacking team in Campaign mode will now also prove more useful all around, while all bot inhibitors for Freeplay matches have been disabled entirely – this will make AI characters more challenging and fun to play with and against in Brink multiplayer.

For those of you that enjoy playing Stopwatch, there’s now a new post-match summary screen detailing the performance of both teams. Not only will you be able to see who’s won overall, but the new summary will also break down the time taken for each of the objectives – great for bragging rights!

Additionally, this update includes a massive bundle of weapon balancing tweaks. Among other things, heavy weapons and grenade launchers are getting a boost, while SMGs are dialled back a bit. Very nearly everything else gets tickled with the balancing stick, as well, so there’s literally something for everyone. Speaking of balancing, this update also moves a few more things over to our netvars, which allows us to adjust these on the fly in the future without requiring you to download a full game update. These include respawn timers and timelimits for all of the maps in the game, as well as body type health, so we’ll have even greater flexibility when it comes to balancing. As always, keep sharing your balancing feedback with us – it’s been invaluable so far.

Finally, this update also includes numerous bug fixes. For example, light body types are now no longer being able to wield heavy weapons and we’ve also been able to tackle a bunch of issues with some items being misreported on the Brink statistics site. By the way, if you haven’t registered an account on there yet, now’s the time! Not only will you be able to see a detailed breakdown of your player and weapons statistics, but you’ll also be able to check out summaries of your most recent matches and compare your stats to those of other players.

  3. I was hoping they would fix the headshot problem. Everytime I play the game and look at the other team’s kills it is just a list of headshots. Across the map headshots with smgs should not be constantly happening, the bots are more accurate than the guns allow for. It just makes playing the game really frustrating. (you still win in the end but walking into the room and dying immediately isn’t fun, especially when the bot should not have noticed you)

    And ATI cards still run like shit.

  5. I have a little problem with brink statistic, i used the code i found in
    to the game but your site don’t record the data. I tried to play with
    different characters and mode but no data be recorder. In game the
    statistic
    code isn’t more visible and i don’t know what i can try.

  6. @Brinco Don’t forget “netvars and title storage management allow us to rapidly deploy balance changes to the game.” equals “We’re going to let horribly unbalanced weapons sit for months”, “Each map is painstakingly crafted and playtested” equals “Every map has a massive defensive bias on PC because we only tested with gamepads.”, and “You’ll always know how you died” equals “The barrett can one hit down you from a mile away with a bodyshot.”

    How Splash Damage manages to stay in business I don’t know. You’d think someone would have sat down and noticed “Hey, this objective requires a player to stand still for thirty seconds in the middle of a courtyard surrounded by sniper balconies.”

  7. 800 MS points is too steep for 2 maps and a little fluf. You guys are going to price this where people that dont get it free wont buy it. You might want to think about 400 points or so. Unless you are releasing a massive DLC, you better not charge 800 pts.

  8. The PC has already had a metric ton of patches and updates already. So these patches for the consoles are the same ones from the PC patches.

  10. Rob and Chris i totally agree with the both of you. i am still happy we finally got something three more days is a ton better then nothing. and good job on the update i liked all of the things that are on that list for the 360 wish there was a bit more but hey beggars can’t be choosers.

  11. Is it just me, or do these maps look like what should have been in the vanilla game. I mean cmon splash damage, you know the maps are not up to par with what you guys said they would be. And im pretty sure these maps could have been in the origional game. Lol you see old vids with people using bayonetts on their Rhetts. In my opinion, this is not the game promised to us. They made it seem like the game was gonna be like it was in the beta. They even used beta footage in the tutorial vids in the game itself. Its not even the same game. It dosent look the same, flow the same as what we have now. What we got, i think is a step down from what they had before, you dont completely redo a game that you have already worked on for a year or so, and not delay the game the same amount of time. Although it is not a bad game, it could have been much, much more impressive than it is now. I feel lied to, and spent weeks of time researching a game, and all the info i got was false because it was all beta. Thanks splash damage, btw im not buying again from you guys. You screwed us all over and you know it. Flame me if you want, but you know its true if you have looked into it like i have.

    Personally i’m kinda worried about the rebalance of the weapons, I’m used to the settings how they are now and found no issue with it.

    Hopefully the free users off xbox live can also download it the first week, probably not.

  14. I know you guys are all about teamwork in gameplay, but im sure it wouldn’t hurt to add a couple more game modes say CTF,Deathmatch,Team Deathmatch, Elimination. These modes would have a little bit of teamwork like CTF and possibly Elimination. With the type of game you have here im sure these game modes would be a great addition to the only TWO game modes you have now. I know I would LOVE to see these implimented into the game if possible.

  15. Pffft Update does everything EXCEPT improve matchmaking for anyone outside of US and Europe, I’ve had the game for about 2 months and havent found a single full game and when My friend invites me too one I cant play for about 3 seconds without lagging even AFTER the update!

  16. I like how no one is commenting on how cool these new maps look! :) Really looking forward to the DLC, and I wish people would stop moaning. I think Splash Damage has done more than enough to satisfy gamers. Certainly, they’ve not gone down the “treat-their-customers-like-crap-and-rely-on-popularity” route.

  17. While i did see something about respawn, the main reason i dont play brink as much as i wouldlike to is cuz it takes so od damn long to respawn and so easy to get downed! I hope thy fix this, then i would really start to play this game!

    Yea I always read alot of complaints in the comments and maybe this isnt the game everybody expected but it is still one of my favorite fps of all time…can’t wait to get my hands on more content

    Btw 400 MS points would make you alot more sales, but I thank you for serving us still loyal by offering it free at first.

  19. I’m worried. I just downloaded the patch and was trying to get the Achievement for doing the 3 Star Run on all challenges. I was just missing one and I got it but the game did not give me the achievement. All I want to know is, Do I have to do it all over again or is this a bug in the patch?

  20. Keep in mind the a lot of the PC patches has been already been given, it’s only the consoles that has to be given in larger batches cause of how their patching policies are.

  26. Once again the DLC is not here when promised as of this very moment no DLC. What is going with Splash damage/ Bethesda. DLC is always released at midnight they can’t get the game right and now they can’t get release dates right or even the patches completely right either.

  27. i have a ps3 and an 360! why did ps3 get it 08/01/11 but 360 hasn’t got it and is 12:08 08/03/11.
    u guys keep losing customers every day and more when u break a promise but luckily 4 u i will only get rid of brink if this add on blows. i given u guys SOOOOOOOO mush slack its not even funny i’ve tried 2 stay as possitive as possible but u guys r trying me and my patience u have 1 week or i will break and take u with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   28. i have the exact same problem. the agents of change dlc is nowhere on xbox not in the spotlight game marketplace or in the downloadable content section on brink and its not on xbox.com so i need help on how to get the dlc.

  29. If this DLC comes out 2 weeks late and I have to pay for it, i’m breaking the f***ing disc + box, and sending it through the mail to SD saying “FAIL.”

  30. After the 1.03 update the PS3 slim 2gen cant play public game (mabe private too) becuase it restarts the PS3 and on the PS3 orginal 3gen you cant even update becuase the PS3 restarts itself and i cant play Private game either cuase then it also restarts!
    Fix now!
    I have waited on this DLC since Juny and now I cant play the new maps!
    If you dont fix it within 1 day Ima firing mah Lazor! on you!!!!

  32. took them 1-2 months to fix a no bug sound at the lauch of the game (pc) . doesnt suprise me their dlc is late , really dissapointed in this game (2 thumbs down) really down .
