Lonesome Road update

Since the release of Old World Blues, we’ve been receiving plenty of questions asking when Fallout: New Vegas’ next game add-on, Lonesome Road, is planned for release. In our forums today, Senior Producer Jason Bergman posted an update:

“We just wanted to drop in here and let you know that due to circumstances beyond our control, Lonesome Road won’t be out this month. This isn’t due to any major issue with the code or content, but there are lots of factors involved in releasing these things, and one of those is causing us to slip past our intended release date.

We don’t have an exact date yet, but we’re working to get it out as quickly as possible. We’ll be announcing the final date, along with a couple of other interesting FNV-related items in the near future.”

Once we have a finalized release date for Lonesome Road, we’ll let everyone know. In the meantime, here’s the first screenshot from the new content.

  1. Well, there’s a shock! I may have a heart attack & die from the shock of the surprise that… yet again!… B/O et al is too incompetent to a)meet their obligations or b)accurately forecast the readiness of a product. I may have a stroke if I find out it’s buggy. I’ll probably suffer a crippling aneurysm if it’s a half baked dull slog like DM & OWB, a pointless exercise in futility where the only real motivation is the acquisition of some gadget, weapon, armour/clothing & meagre elevation of the level cap.

  2. ‘sniff, sniff’ Smells like marketing department hi-jinks to me. People are starting to wise up to the GotY phenomenon, and Bethesda wants to have a stocking up for the Christmas Season. Throw the release of Skyrim into the mix, I can’t shake the feeling that Bethesda wants to release some DLC for that, too, this Christmas.

Hey, I know that video games are an industry that people go into to make money, but nobody likes when a publisher writes checks the publishing company will then not cash.

  3. Thanks for the great gaming, guys! I’ve been having blast in New Vegas since it’s release and in all it’s DLC. Take your time, make sure Lonesome Road lives up to our expectations.

To everyone complaining: Everyone will forget delays — even you — but a bad gameplay experience will be long remembered. It could be pushed out the door with issues — and that will be far more serious than a delay — or fully finished, polished up, tested and amazing.

  4. Bethesda, in my opinion, is one of the best game developing companies around i love the fallout series and hope for more games to come ( maybe one in Canada :D ) and im sure lonesome roads will be the best DLC by far and who cares how long it takes as long as it is a reasonable amount of time and they fix some bugs.

  5. its unfortunate that the last DLC wont be out this month but how bout a peace offering, why dont you raise the level cap by 10 in stead of 5 for Lonesome Road so that the max level will be 60. i dont imagine it would be a difficult thing to do and i think it would appease alot of people who are disappointed about the delay

its just a thought anyway, well either that or put a lightsaber in the game :)

  6. I’m sorry but the fact that the date keeps getting pushed back is a little annoying considering I paid £8 for Honest Hearts which was WAY too short for it to be purchased at the same price as I got Fallout New Vegas for and Dead Money was just ugh. Old World Blues is the only one worth the money so far, so for this reason I reckon we deserve a release date soon! I can’t really finish the main storyline until I have done it so please Bethesda, pull your finger out and get it put through asap please!

  7. “and one of those is causing us to slip past our intended release date”

That happened a long time ago when the release date used to be the end of July. Now it’s “and one of those is causing us to slip past our ‘already postponed’ release date”.

And if it’s not a content/coding issue, then what? Someone is suddenly asking for more money?

  8. wow another DLC for NV!(hope’s not the last!)
Haven’t finished yet OWB sooo… great news for me(at least), thanks a lot for the good work, and lets wait to see what improvements you put in the game.

  9. Well seems a few ppl are abit Irate about not having istante gradification.. Instead of yelling at the Developer who btw is one of the last few decent big name RPG developers. Why not go shoot something in one of the other good games being released in the next few days and let them make the last DLC something to remember. Yeah it sucks it’s been pushed back but you know i’ll live and when it’s released i’ll be more then happy to buy it and play my little hearts content out of the new Dlc for Fallout: NV.
So chill out drink a beer and go play BlackOps or something.

  10. I don’t mind the delay. Just make sure all the bugs in the upcoming DLC are eliminated before you guys release it.It would be nice if you iron out all the kinks in NV and the existing DLCs.I occasionally still get stalls/freezes from NV.Thanks

  11. It could be worse… half-life fans have been waiting nearly 5 years for episode 3 to be released with next to no updates from valve.
