    • Oooo your a fortunate one Princess Stomper :D

I still have the manual and the installation paper and a near mint game cd i brought that very first week it was available at J&R Computer World that fateful November day right after..Halloween.

Am very happy to see that the free downloadable version plays even faster and smoother on Dosbox then the original ever did.

I have yet to play a more complete fun and highly detailed rpg since TES 2 DAGGERFALL. It is truly a game of a life time to be played for a life time. Everything it does it does perfectly. From the huge variety of buetiful and terrifying atmospheric music to the huge dungeons one could get lost in for real time days. No exploring multiple dungeons in one sitting with TES 2 DAGGERFALL. One was more then a handful with its unique denizens which seem to have a very logical placement as if this was their dungeon and not just a random spawning setup.

TES 2 DAGGERFALL paradise and damnation all in one package.

Thank you Bethesda for all the magical winter nights :D

  1. Amazing stuff. I wish I had a boxed copy of Daggerfall :) (Arena, Battlespire, and Redguard as well for that matter)

I wonder what you guys will do for Morrowind’s 10 year anniversary next year ^_^

    • Mine is identical to the depicted one, but I don’t think it had the book of knowledge or the letter opener. I recognize all the other items, though, from my copy…. although my box has a book-style front cover which opens to reveal more detail about the game, if I recall correctly. It’s in a temperature+humidity-regulated, locked storage unit several hundred miles away from where I am now, so I’m not 100% certain about those claims (98.6%, though).

  2. Ooooh… a knife! Pretty! I likes it very much!

Too bad I never got to play Daggerfall until it was available for download. Years ago, I saw a friend playing it and being all stingy refusing to let me play HIS game. And I couldn’t find any copies of Daggerfall in the stores or online, but within a few months Bethesda announced Elder Scrolls III. I was literally counting the days, this series sounded like everything I’d ever dreamed of in video games. I was not disappointed!

  3. And this was standard edition of the game. Not overpriced CE.

Kind of sad that the only company still doing beautiful packaging like that is CD Projekt Red.

  4. if there was a steam version of arena and daggerfall id buy it. dont think ANYONE could actualy play through it, but i’ll boot it up and walk around, i hear daggerfalls first dungeon is hard.

    • Arena and Daggerfall are free from Bethesda.com afaik, need Dosbox. The games didn’t age well, still fun if you can get into them good, but just walking around town and the wilderness won’t be much.

    • Its not that hard once you get the hang of it, but the game takes some getting used to. You can play it like an FPS so that helps. Theres a ton of people who have played through the game, it’s long, not impossible – and the patches fix most of the bugs, which the download does not come with unless you get DaggerfallSetup.exe

  5. I have Arena and Daggerfall that run on my Macbook with Boxer, but I can’t get very far because I can’t kill anything! I read that you have to have a mouse to use weapons; is it possible to play these on a laptop without a mouse?

  6. Still my favorite game in the series – for its era of course.

The Elder Scrolls needs to return to Iliac Bay at some point and fufill the vast vision and ambition Daggerfall strived for.

  7. I have the a boxed edition. unfortunately that’s the french edition. Doesnt mean the game is in french but that there is no dagger in it and no maps etc.

  8. Haha, this takes me back! I still have the original box, with everything in it, and I still have the CD. Speaking of that, im re-installing :)

  9. This would be a great time to finally release the source code, so someone can modernize it. (Like the various Quake updates). I’d love to go back and play it again, if only it ran natively on Windows and the graphics were brought closer to current standards. (High res, hardware accelerated, etc.)

  10. I bought a Daggerfall CD secondhand before it was made free to download. Unfortunately, it was just the CD and instruction book. I do have a complete box of the CD version of Arena with all the inserts and packed in items in really good condition. Crown jewel of my PC game collection.

  11. Have the game here, twice. US and EU (Great Britain) edition. Although the last one isn’t complete, it seems the US one is. I do not have the letteropener (the ‘dagger’) but I believe only 2 copies exist of the dagger?

    • Oh my GOODNESS!!! This is SPELLBINDING MAGNIFICENT!!! He is even doing a port of BLOOD. Mama Mia! Oh HAPPY DAY!

Thank alot tes9001 for the action packed emotiong reeling link :D

  12. I have both the boxed versions of Arena and Daggerfall. Later I downloaded the games and can play them without cd. I played Arena without Dosbox, I just click on the batch file in Win XP and it runs (must install the game on the C -drive).

Daggerfall does need Dosbox and I’m enjoying it again, but I’m having some problems with the game… levitation doesn’t seem to work and climbing as well.

  13. Great game. Best part was the class creator. Can’t wait to see what the new class creator is like in Skyrim! Wonder if it’s still 30-100 stats. Maybe they made Luck influence treasure again?! :(

  14. While I love The Elder Scrolls, I was not a big fan of Daggerfall. I did play through the main quest, though, and that took me forever. But the main reason I didn’t like it is not the game’s fault, it was mine. I forgot to install the patch, so when I got to a certain part, I couldn’t get any further. When I realized I still had to install the patch, I punched myself in the face.
