Hello!
I have a mobile Intel 740QM Quad, 4GB RAM, GeForce 435M 1GB and 7200RPM HDD.
Could you please help comare my spec with recommended one?
Do you think I will be able to play the game alright and with decent graphics settings and FPS?
Thanks!
You should be fine… Sounds like an Alienware to me…? But yes you should be a okay. Especially if the recommended specs are ok.
just type in can i run it in google and you can compare any game you want to see if your computer can run it.
…or use one of the web services that will figure it out for you. Like Game-o-Meter.
http://www.yougamers.com/gameometer/10478/
(Obviously that will compare to the listed official requirements, wacky HD 4200 and all, so in this case it may be worth taking it with a grain of salt…)
None of this seems right. Any good Hardware Spec comment gets NO RESPONSE, only the simple repetitive questions. NO comment on LINUX, NO comment on SLI or CROSSFIRE.
I’m guessing another Spec Sheet will show up on release date, and all of this will be null and void.
Hmmmm. Those recomended specs are really low. Its interesting they don’t say what resolution you will need to play on with that spec and what frame rate to expect. Its strange that ij a recent Tim Willits interview that they demo ed it running on a gtx 275 and could only get it running at 60fps at 1280×1024. This means you will prob neex a gx460 pr equiv to get 60 fps at anything above 1650×1024. Check it out yourself

I hate how the “recommended” specs. are never close to running a game near it’s maximum potential. I don’t think it’s asking too much to give consumers a better idea what they’ll need to run games at or near max. Yes, the recommended specs. can run the game at decent fps, but I find the game still skips or has hiccups at moments with a lot of action on screen. And some games don’t look horrible with recommended specs..
Rage is a 60hz Game the tech behind was made so the game will run 60hz so if the game does drop in FPS you will see screen tearing on the screen for a short bit till it jumps back to 60FPS after it corrects what ever error happened. they made Rage with 60FPs in mind because the racing part and the action felt and looked better @ 60FPS
Now Doom4 on the other hand is a 30hz game and will be far more detailed
The 60 FPS target is for consoles, where the hardware and settings are constant. On PC graphics and processor hardware can vary wildly, along with resolution and other graphics settings (like setting the game to play in 1440p). So there is no guarantee that any hardware and graphics setting combination will reach 60 FPS most of the time.
60FPS is where it is at for Rage it was desined to run like this and if it does dipp in any areas then you will see some screen tearing

Um, 60Hz is what 99.999% of users will be playing at because that is the refresh rate of LCD monitors (with a very few exceptions). You just want to keep the min frame rate a little above 60 FPS.
Because if id published the MAX game experience is: This would no doubt lead to a train of nubs crying that in order for them to play rage they would need X type system that would cost XXXX much.
Not much of a problem if you get a job and get out of your parent’s basement.
+1
Meh, I’m on a Q6600, 4GB RAM, Geforce 9600GT, Win XP.
I’ll run the game as high as I can and if I’m unhappy I’ll just upgrade, no biggy.
Well, i bet they would never dream of showing rage running at e3 on a pc with those specs. You will need something like a 460 to run at 60 fps. I know it will tear and drop the texture quality to TRY and maintain 60 fps but the fact is you will need relatively decent hardware to run at a good resolution at 60 fsp
Hey, Bethesa! we need a little explanation – how is it possible Radeon HD 4200 could be as fast as GeForce 8800? Please, explain. Now, the requirements are rubbish.
This is only for PC right? lolz
That’s it? No way.
WTF 25Gbs ?!?!?!!? :O hell…. that was my Fallout 3 folder size, fully modded
25 GB wow… time for a new computer I guess, the minimum system requirements are exactly what I have (except I have more RAM – but not 4 GB) LOL…
What i don’t understood is if truth be told how you are not really a lot more well-liked than you may be now. You are very intelligent. You recognize therefore considerably in the case of this matter, produced me in my view consider it from so many varied angles. Its like women and men don’t seem to be interested until it?s something to do with Girl gaga! Your own stuffs nice. At all times care for it up!
Will Rage come out for Wii at some time?
you’re kidding right? it would run better on a 3DS. Wii has the processing power of a computer from the 80′s
It would take four discs if it were released on wii.
look the only way to play is pc! Because the game will be dumbed down to play on XBox and or PS3. Disagree all you want, but its the truth! There will be a huge group of pc players that will gripe about performence. Upgrade or buy a console. the game will be a winner none the less, dx11 isnt ids forte so if you have OGL 3.1 or better have no dout it WILL knock your socks off! id and bethesda dont do anything half way so hold on and play!
This game is a console port
I still think its funny how all nvidia users believe that Ati cards are slow and useless. its not 2005 and nvidia doesnt have monopoly on the game market. Ill put my HD 6950 2 gig xxx edition against any nvidia on the market! lol is all I have to say.
Hey check out this one’s specs http://uk.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-590/specifications
My PC spec:
OS: Win Vista
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Quad Q6600 2.40 Ghz
Memory: 3GB
Video Card: Asus engt220
I want to buy Rage for Pc, it will be run on mine? thanks!
haha no way u loser
Pc users shouldnt worry about the fps cap. Editing the correct files will fix that.
Don’t be sure on that, brit. Doom 3 was software capped at 60 fps no matter what.
Indeed. You could set com_fixedtic -1 to supposedly get higher framerates, but this definitely did not work correctly if you enabled vsync so the game’s engine was still locking in to 60Hz for movement. To get absolutely smooth visuals – most noticeable when strafing near a wall – you had to clock your monitor at 60Hz and try to make sure the game never dropped below 60FPS, and set com_precisetic to 0. This caused some longer audio segments to go out of sync with actors’ mouth movements, but it removed a nasty hitch that occured when moving about.
I don’t like framerate locks and I’ve always thought this was a bit of a bandaid for the physics problems which could be fixed easily in Q3 (I know because I’ve done it ) and thus Doom 3 by removing the floating point snapping on the player’s delta vector, creating consistent movement regardless of FPS. In short, run the physics engine at 60Hz, let the player render at whatever speed they can. I’d much prefer that over being forced to a lower FPS when my hardware can push > 60Hz with vsync on.
Full credit to Id Softwares team for this.
Those specs are LOW compared to what John Carmack was saying at the ID expo. He was saying they could barely get it to run at 60fps on the best of the best. I bet the “RECOMMENDED SPECS” will only allow you to play at medium settings at 720p only. I wish they would put the real specs down. (They might just think they will scare users away from buying the game.) lol
I just bought this computer and I should be getting it right after Rage comes out, will it be able to run it, and on what setting?
HP Pavilion HPE h8z series
• Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium [64-bit]
• AMD Phenom(TM) II X6 1065T six-core processor [2.9GHz, 3MB L2 + 6MB L3 shared, up to 4000MHz]
• FREE UPGRADE to 8GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [2 DIMMs] from 6GB
• FREE UPGRADE to 1TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive from 750GB
• 1GB DDR3 Radeon HD 6570 [DVI, HDMI. VGA adapter]
• FREE UPGRADE to Blu-Ray player
• Wireless-N LAN card (1×1)
• 15-in-1 memory card reader, 2 USB, audio
• Integrated sound
You should be fine. You wont be able to play at 1440p, but not many people will, select the ones that spend $600 on video cards.
May I ask, whats up with the “FREE UPGRADE” thing? Are you trying to advertise an unnamed store?
You should have no problems wharsoever. That’s a decent rig and will give you Rage’s 60-Hz with most of the bells and whistles turned on. To gaurantee that, run it on a 24″ monitor (1920 x 1200) — that is considered mid-range today. Enjoy!
seeing the genius that john carmack is, im not surprised that this game can take last gen hardware and make it run like horse on steroids.
For a 22GB sized game you only get one character / default story line?!?
Hey guys, remember that Carmack has had Rage running on the iPhone/iPad for awhile now. Sure it’s a cut-down version. But it seems that JC has actually been *working* on that idTech 5 engine, and not just on megatexture streaming either. Megatexture is what is pushing the hard disk footprint up to 25 GB.
Can I still buy RAGE for a Mac? And if so will it be available on the mac app store?
I have an i7 intel 2600 cpu 3.40 ghz,
