BETHESDA SOFTWORKS ANNOUNCES RENOWNED
VOICE OVER CAST FOR THE ELDER SCROLLS® V: SKYRIM™
Academy Award Nominees Christopher Plummer, Max Von Sydow and Joan Allen Come Together for the Year’s Most Anticipated Game
September 27, 2011 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today revealed the stage and screen legends lending their talents to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the next installment in the award-winning Elder Scrolls series. Skyrim will feature an ensemble cast of Academy Award nominees, including Christopher Plummer (“The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” “The Insider”), Max Von Sydow (“The Exorcist,” “Minority Report”), and Joan Allen (“The Contender,” “The Bourne Ultimatum”).
Christopher Plummer, a two-time Emmy Award winner, two-time Tony Award winner and Academy Award nominee, takes on the role of Arngeir, a powerful Greybeard elder. An order of philosopher monks who are masters of the Way of the Voice, the Greybeards live in silent isolation atop Skyrim’s largest mountain.
Academy Award nominee, Max Von Sydow, stars as Esbern, a chronicler and agent of the Blades who has survived in hiding. Long obsessed with the foretold return of the dragon Alduin, the World Eater, Esbern will teach you how to confront this epic evil.
Tony Award winner and three-time Academy Award nominee, Joan Allen, will be making her videogame debut as Delphine, one of the last remaining members of the Blades – an ancient warrior society once sworn to protect the Emperor. Like you, Delphine is trying to unravel the mystery of the dragons’ return.
In addition, iconic actress and singer, Lynda Carter (“Wonder Woman”), voices Gormlaith Golden-Hilt, one of the Nord heroes who overthrew the dragons in ancient times.
“It’s been incredible to have all these actors together,” said Todd Howard, Game Director. “When you start a project, you always make your wish-list of actors, and to actually hear them in the game, it’s amazing. We can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”
Skyrim’s cast also includes:
- Michael Hogan (“Battlestar Galactica”), who plays Imperial General Tullius, in charge of crushing the Stormcloak rebellion.
- Vladimir Kulich (“The 13th Warrior,” “Smoking Aces”) portrays Hogan’s nemesis Ulfric Stormcloak, Jarl of Windhelm and charismatic leader of the Stormcloaks, who aims to make Skyrim independent of the Empire.
- Claudia Christian (“Babylon 5”) joins the cast as Legate Rikke, General Tullius’s chief lieutenant, a loyal Imperial officer as well as a Nord who firmly believes Skyrim must remain part of the Empire.
- Diane Louise Salinger (“Carnivale”), Renee Victor (“Weeds”), and Saturday Night Live-alum George Coe (“Transformers: Dark of the Moon”) round out the star-studded cast of more than 70 different voice actors delivering over 60,000 lines of dialogue.
Will you release a full list of the cast anytime soon or after release?
And what about the game’s soundtrack, will it be individually released after 11.11.11?
Cheers!
who needs a soundtrack when you have youtube and a “youtube to MP3 converter”. not to mention the file in the PC version’s directory.
Yes, converting crap quality youtube videos into another lossy format like mp3 will sound spectacular. Might as well record it to a cassette tape.
Yes, except for it’s not the same audio quality as it would be if the soundtrack was released on CD.
And if you truly loved these games and want to see TES VI you should spend some money on their products instead of stealing off the internet.
I realize that not everyone is equipped to tell the difference between fine Italian cooking and Chef Boyardee. What escapes me is why anyone would brag about such a deficiency.
Personally, the moment Jeremy makes his tracks available through DirectSong I’ll be buying. Youtube-ripped audio, as well as that shipping with most games, sounds like it’s been chewed on and spat out.
I am awaiting the soundtrack as well! I would love to have that before the game comes out! >)
NICE!
Jeff Baker! Where is he?!
The main character needs to be voiced by Adam West. He needs to be just as crazy as he is in Family Guy too.
Claudia Christian?! Whoot!!!!! B5 forever!
I want to hear sth !
i want to hear sth of them , also when the german voices are different.
Hopefully there will be multiple endings. I don’t really want to be railroaded into helping either Stormcloak, or the Imperials. If given a choice, I want to see how my choices play out at the ending, and beyond.
The way you are saying this sounds like you liked New Vegas more than Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Are you an Elder Scrolls fan at all?
I doubt the ending of the story has you choosing one side over the other, it’s all about re-uniting them under one empire.
Seems unlikely they’ll do multiple endings. It messes up the lore, and they can’t cop out and do what they did with Daggerfall’s “Warp in the West”, namely because it’s already be done. (Not to mention it’s logically impossible)
Michael Hogan’s back! He was in Fallout: New Vegas as Doc Mitchell.
Better be more voice actors than this. Worst thing about Oblivion was having so few. They only had 1 male and 1 female for each race. They need 5-10 for each race. Of various ages too.
Doesn’t compare to Sir Patrick Stuart and Sean Bean. I don’t think you can get more epic than that. :/
Will be great but somehow I’ll miss Sean Bean’s voice…
Just having Vladimir Kulich is icing on the cake
Wes Johnson? please tell me hes back. lucien lachance, and Mr. burk, instant voice recognition.
Blah
Get Patrick Stewart back!
But, see, that’s why there were only 14 voice actors in Oblivion, because they spent their entire VA budget on Patrick Stewart!
That’s also probably why Leo DiCraprio or the like has never voice-acted for a game. Hiring A-list actors is expensive as hell…
Ugh…as typos go, that one was pretty bad…
You’re forgiven. The excitement and all.
maybe not typo but an Freudian slip (or how te hell do you call that in english)?
I thought it was pretty funny..
Don’t worry I call him that all the time.
its kinda like his 2nd name to me
I’m fairly confident it wasn’t a typo heehhehee
Nice one
wow no british voice actors, im disappointed
I know that this is asking a lot, but it would be amazing if Liam Neeson was in another of Bethesda’s games. I don’t know any of these voice actors, so I really have no judgement on what to expect. Should be amazing, nonetheless.
what happened to jim cummings? i thought he would be worth mentioning
Who cares about the soundtrack? How many of you hang out and listen to medieval ass music?
Patrick Stewart, Liam Neeson, Michael Hogan… who’s next, one of the Doctors? :p
Really looking forward to this.
As Mirokunite said, multiple endings for joining or fighting the Stormcloak would be pretty sweet.
Honestly, I’m still hoping for a visit from Martin-as-Akatosh, descended from the heavens. You know whose voice THAT needs.
There will probably be an Akatosh apearence. But unfortunetly probably no martin.
Hmm… Microsoft Sam?
It sounds like Bethesda is serious about the voice acting, this time around. Hearing the same ten or so in Oblivion started to get painful.
Be seeing you.
What? No Claudia Black?
I just pray Skyrim doesnt have the NV equivelant of
“The slaves are talking about the Burned Man again…”
or
“Ave, true to Caesar”
Same voice actor, same line, 5000 times.
bah.., this is so epic… *drools* can you pre-order in Canada?
Hey, they got Dr. Parnassus
Yeah this’ll be better considering oblivion had 14 voice actors and Skyrim will have 70+
Hmmmm i think a return of patrick stewart needs to be in this. no better voice over than that. or even mark hammil.
Sorry, but the Russian version will be??
Lots of Canadian content, up there, I like it! Kudos on getting Chris Plummer – amazing, simply amazing. I’m still holding out hope for a Sean Bean cameo (obviously as someone who isn’t Martin Septim).
Are there 70 different voice actors for the german version too , or do we have again just 6 or 7 different voices for hundrets of charakters?
Would be really disappointing, I hope there is a version with english voice and german subtitles.
Have you the casting list for France?
Yay! So many big names!!! Love you guys @ Bethesda! You just made my day!
A Skyrim soundtrack would be an insta-buy for me as well!
SEAN BEAN!!!!!!!!! “Winter Is Coming”
we want Sean Bean
Awesome! I’d love to hear Linda Carter in Slyrim. I already pre-ordered.
*Skyrim
weh, weh… wes johnson? weh, where are you?
yes I really hope they left him as a surprise
As much as I liked Michael Hogan’s ‘Doc Mitchell’ – eww, 2k3 and 2k4 Battlestar Galactica, now that was a totally unnessecary reboot of the 1978 show with Lorne Greene (Adama) and John Colicos (Baltar).
…You can’t *possibly* be serious, can you?
I am. The reboot is simply overfreighted with too much of everything
[...]
– and c’mon Michael Hogan replacing Terry Carter as Colonel Tigh – heck, even Wesley Snipes would’ve been a better choice, Starbuck’s gender switch is simply ridiculous, like replacing stos Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) with Joe DiMaggio (Smiling Jack accent provided)
Is Wes Johnson going to play in it, the man that played lucien lachance in oblivion and mister burke in fallout , really loved his cold voice
@Simon… don’t worry, Wes is in the game
Cool to see Claudia Christian in the cast.
My favorite actor in Babylon 5.
I’d love to hear the Dunmer voice actor from Morrowind. In fact, all of the racial voice actors from Morrowind were pretty good, but especially the Dunmer.
Chris Plummer!?! Max Von Sydow?! Joan Allen?! Dare I begin to wonder if we are moving closer to a Video Game equivalent of the Oscars?
A dreamlike manifestation of Actresses and Actors. Thank you Bethesda for everything that it took making this magic moment possible.
Every ounce of new information released about Skyrim is thrilling. I’ve honestly never been more excited about an upcoming game in my life. This whole year has been just killing time until Skyrim is released. Hurry up 11.11.11!
Where’s Steve Blum?
LOL! I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to hear him in Skyrim since I’ve heard him in soooo many other games lately.
Perhaps the soundtrack will be available from directsong, as with Morrowind, Oblivion and Jeremy Soule’s other soundtracks?
Sounds as though Christopher Plummer got an easy gig! He plays “a powerful Greybeard elder” but “the Greybeards live in silent isolation” so we won’t hear a peep out of him…
That’s an insane cast you’ve built up there.
Looks like it’s going to be a good game. Too bad i don’t buy games from legal bullies. Drop the stupid lawsuit and maybe i’ll reconsider. “Scrolls” has been around long before you guys got your hands on the word.
My one concern. Will Felicia Day join the list? I loved her in ?NV.
*NV not ?NV
I would give anything for Alan Rickman to just say one word in the game.
