  1. Total failure… 2 stores in my immediate local area, I pre-ordered it from one, but it turns out the other one is having a midnight launch… and the one I pre-ordered from doesn’t open until 11 am tomorrow morning…

  2. I’ve only played it an hour, but i’m pretty confident that this will be voted Game of The Year by a vast majority of websites/ magazines.

Oh, the PS3 version is fine, a few bugs but overall it plays fine. Don’t know why Bethesda never showed PS3 gameplay. must of been under contract by Microsoft.

  3. PC version looks as pure awesomenesss! Especially when i turned on bTreesReceiveShadows and bDrawLandShadows – picture started lookin really cmpetitative to even BF3.
Thank you, Bethesda for make an efforts to solve all these issues with different PC specs/drivers to deliver us best looking picture over all platforms.
I’ve thought that game cost fewer to its real price so i opened steam and bought second copy! Its my advise to all PC gamers – buy more copies of Skyrim – lets show that pc can not only be best looking platform but best selling platform too

    • LOL, sorry, I don’t have an extra $60 lying around to buy more than one copy?! Whether or not it’s the best-selling platform, Bethesda knows PC gamers love them, hence why they still do things like support modding with the upcoming Creation Kit… :)

  4. My 11 day began a little scary, when my colleague at work sent me an SMS “Steam has been invaded.”
But now, at home, skyrim ready to play! and to hell with the time in the world! the engine is phenomenal, the field of view is insane! i think my saturday is reserved for tourism in the lands of Tamriel, kill bandits, see the beauty of the mountains… God! finally a game where the reviews really match with final product.
After i bought “Rage” the lack of update for a game so unstable, with already pre-order of Skyrim… my fear with the wave of amazing interviews and “we are perfect” during the Quakecon.. start a frustration about the real quality.
ZeniMax, believe me, Bethesda is its crown jewel!
    Thank you Bethesda!

  5. I am currently admiring the optimizations you put in to the creation engine. Compared to the gamebyro engine used in Oblivion this is very smooth.

Speaking as a modder, it is impressive.

    Well done Beth :)

The Textures do look dated but I understand thats part of the optimizations too, a necessary evil if it is to run on the consoles. Still low impact world space graphics leaves more room for other features which modders like me can now supply.

    • They could have just pumped PC version with twice as big Textures… having to develop for consoles is no excuse at all, there are modders that in just 1 week working alone has created more than hundreds of high resolution textures.

Anyway Skyrim is still the best game i played ever, a 94/100.

  6. I’ve been a fan since Morrowind, I was impressed with Oblivion and I am enjoying Skyrim. There are a few things I would like to provide bit of constructive criticism on. The white font is difficult to read for those of us who cannot afford the top of the line tv to play this on. Its fuzzy. The compass is so small and blurry I cannot distinguish one icon from another. I have the 360 version and the character menu doesn’t always work. I have to cancel the menu and reopen it, sometimes multiple times. That’s pretty much it for now, I’ve only played about 16 hours. Aside from a few technical things, Skyrim is the ultimate RPG.

  7. Yes there are werewolwes and you can become one. It’s an awesome game! I think it will be the best game I’ve ever played :)

Thank you Bethesda so much! <3

  8. This is by far the RPG of the year. Actually this is clealry the best RPG ever made. Nah…This is the best Game ever made. I have been playing the Elder Scroll series since Daggerfall’s release in 1996 and i think you would be hard pressed to find another game company who has set the standard for many gameplay elements that originated from the Elder Scroll series.

    10/10

  9. I think it’s really cool that you guys were alright with Giant Bomb streaming 12 hours of your game. Not only was it an excellent throwback to the old 12 hour Gamespot stream of Oblivion, the Giant Bomb stream was well-produced and fun to watch.

  10. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this game. Now that I have it, I am tempted to return it. This has to be the biggest disapointment I’ve ever had in a game. The graphics are great but the game play sucks compared to Oblivion. Here here is a few of the problems I have with it.

They removed the ablitiy to make custom spells!! That was 65 percent of the fun of Oblivion was the ability to create what you wanted for spell combinations and different spell stacks.

There is no scale to tell how long a spell or affect potion or even being under water. No way to tell when your enchantment is about to run out or your summon is about to disappear. You can’t even tell how much longer you can hold your breath. Are you kidding me? *yes for the haters you can go look in the menu to see spell affects but that is alot of trouble compared to oblivions where it was in the top corner.*

The level up sucks. No stat points so your base hit points, magic and stamina never go up when you level. All you get is a static 10 points to select one fo the 3. You can’t even split them up and add them individually. You could end up with a level 20 character that still has starting stats on one of the three.

You can’t fast travel to towns until you walk to them, a long walk, or take a carriage first.

These are just some of the more obvious problems. There are more. I am sorry to say but the nerfed magic users so much its almost not worth playing.

    • Umm you can look at a bar to tell when an enchantment is low, and the same for oxygen. Why do you need to see when a spell runs out anyway? you cast it. it takes affect. DONE. also Fast travelling is helpful but this way you get to realy explore the path to the destination. Dont rush through this game. I dont like magic generally but i believe that it takes alot to be good at it in this game.

  11. To the entire Bethesda team my whole hearted thanks. I can’t explain the happiness you’ve brought into my life….SKYRIM IS THE ULTIMATE GAME!!! Happy Holidays to you n yours

  12. I waited a long time for the release of Skyrim. I cried when the trailer came out. And when it came out, it didn’t disappoint me. Stunning graphics, amazing cities, great combat, SHEOGORATH, dragons, and an awesome interface.
Reminds me of the sense of wonder when I played Oblivion, and I remember at times I thought it couldn’t beat that. It did.

    10/10

  13. Trying to find information regarding the voice of the narrator for the video at the top of the page. When I heard it, I recognized it as none other than Max von Sidow. Anyone know if this is correct?

  14. Best.Game.EVER!!!! Folks at Bethesda you have outdone yourselves. I don’t know how you will ever top this game it is simply incredible. Hell I used 1 week vacation just to play this and I’m going to take another! I cannot wait to see what DLC’s you come out with as well. Bye, going back to play skyrim hehe!

  15. further to previous comment forbidden legend have fragment from Folgunthur on to Saarthal cannot enter instead to Geirmunds Hall which does not appear as a destination try to enter me goes to black screen and sits and sits and sits until forced to turn off ps3 as usual with bethesda games good concept but game released full of faults and bugs an expensive disappointment so i ask FRAUD or INCOMPETENCE I want my &&& money back comment from bethesda please

  16. while FO new Vegas was good it lacked the magic of FO 3. I feared this would be the case with skyrim but alas my fears were unfounded as skyrim has surpassed oblivion in every way and has taken its place among the greatest games of all times.
