  1. It’s grotesque…but there are a lot of mods out there which are simply ludicrous and non-sensical…so I guess that someone who wants to have a laugh with Skyrim-based non-sense could play with this mod…

  3. haha I see most people can’t wait for the CK, but let’s give bethesda some time , CK shouldn’t be as bugged as the game, also they must have some time to make it user friendly probably.

    • Emmh…well…Todd Howard also said:

“We’re hoping [the Creation Kit] will be available as a download on launch day. I don’t know if I can promise day-one, but it will be very close.”

And January isn’t “very close” to November…and while obviously they didn’t expect to have so much problems with bugs, this is a good hint that they could botch this deadline as well!
      Jashkar

      • Gstaff: While I DO appreciate your attempt to answer me…and the attempt of the guys on Tweeter…and the attempt of Pete Hines on the forum…

…I am wondering if you guys consider which kind of image you’re giving of your company’s internal organization by telling us things like “As soon as we know we’ll tell you” or “it will be released sometimes in January” when we’re already in January or “it will be released later in this month”…really I wonder about it, because you’re people working in PR & Marketing and you should consider this…

Do you want to know what suggest me the fact that not even your Vice-President of Marketing has any precise idea of when the Creation Kit or the 1.4 Patch will be released?

        I’ll tell you:

        a) Your project managers aren’t able to set clear
objectives and deadlines and define a proper roadmap
to reach them. Because if you had a roadmap I am sure
that Pete Hines would have released more details,
        since it’s good for marketing…
        b) Your team members aren’t approaching clear objectives
according to a methodical approach, but, instead, they
are finding and solving issues “as they go” according
        to an unfocused approach.
        c) You are stuffing new issues and objectives into these
“objectives” (probably mainly the patch) as you go on,
so the objetive for CK and 1.4 Patch release is a
generic “stuff the most you can by the 31st of
        January”.
        d) You’ve not the faintest idea of how solve the major
issues raised by your gaming community.

While I am not a programmer in strict sense, on my job I have to change or improve the code of some macros or make changes to spreadsheets used as work files.

My chief doesn’t care about the specifics of what’s to be done, but usually I am asked one thing “How much time will take?”…and estimations broad like “Within January” wouldn’t be taken for good not even for the most daunting tasks. I am asked in terms of days or work hours. For more extensive tasks which require a lot of independent work I am requested to set deadlines and define a calendar.

        …and…while I am not a programmer…when I approach a problem or issue, I do take a methodic approach:
        - Define the issue or problem.
        - Define the potential causes.
        - Exclude the potential causes one by one until the
        actual cause is found.

Now…how is possible that a company who makes money by selling and programming software couldn’t have such an approach? And if this approach does exist, how could not recognize that you’re giving the idea that your company is made up of clueless people by telling us generic answers?

Gstaff…I generally do appreciate truth, but you guys should really consider that telling us in a more or less
subtle way that you’ve not the faintest idea because the programmers aren’t telling you or aren’t not even making an internal roadmap…well…it’s worse than silence! :(
        Jashkar

        • “Your project managers aren’t able to set clear
objectives and deadlines and define a proper roadmap
          to reach them.”

like how bethesda failed to release skyrim on 11/11/11…… o wait

          • “like how bethesda failed to release skyrim on 11/11/11…… o wait”

            Wait…”what”, Hector?
Didn’t you notice that they released a *highly unpolished* product after *years* of development and, in theory, testing?

Have you noticed *that* or you were *on Mars*, Hector?

It’s pretty *easy* to meet a deadline if you deliver the whole package “as it is”…can’t you notice the difference between “finishing something in time” and “not finishing something and deliverying as it is”??

Well…if you still have memories of school you should probably remember that deliverying a blank paper or an incomplete paper means a bad mark…or you don’t remember that one too and consider that a flawless success??

So I’ll confirm my declaration and I’ll add that the delivery of an unpolished product on 11/11/11
is definitely *another hint* of what I was saying…

      • Moreover, saying “Creation Kit is still planned for release this month” is even worse, Gstaff, since that sounds like a cocktail made of:
        a) Half glass of “I am really sorry, but I don’t know.”
        b) Two fingers of “We could botch the deadline.”
        c) A slice of “Those blasted … (put all skulls and bombs you want) of the development department are taking *ages* to do it, it’s *not* my fault, but the fanbase keeps driving me insane with their constant mantra-like question! GRRRRRH!!”

  4. The dragon has boots on – that was a nice touch. I find “OH YEAH” a suitable substitute for “FU SO RAH.” Music was a bit loud.

    …ck…

    Thanks for sharing!

  5. For every person complaining about the CK not being out yet, there are about 100+ others patiently waiting for a working kit with little to no bugs. ;)

      • I agree with Hector:

You don’t give a … about our need for the Creation Kit and call our legitimate complaining for it “trolling”?

Well, man…for what I care about your “framerate fix” you could keep it forever!!

However, for less … PS3 users, I hope that that fix is released soon too and, maybe, it could help in further improving framerates and avoid savegame bloats also on pc. However the rumors about this aren’t nice:

Seems that’s a core issue with the way the game deals with objects and so on…and some rumors say that even the 1.4 patch couldn’t solve it (too big problem)…

  6. This is all cool but when are you going to get some of the quest glitches fixed, its been a few months since I’ve been dealing with some, im mainly speaking of the quest glitches and one associated with the Companion’s guild. I love the game and its great but I would love to get these fixed. Is there a time frame or any new updates coming soon, I would appreciate that alot, thanks :)

Im speaking mainly of the xbox version since thats the one I play on.

  7. Nice, now would you please update us with at least a few words on the patches for ps3, and creation kit for the PC?

Or is such a thing really so hard, Bethesda =P?

Actually nevermind, you guys should make another post about how awesome you are as developer of the year.

  8. Oh please, say anything bethesda guys! I’m visiting this page more than 20 times a day, just to find out when the creation kit will be released. And still- no response. Just tell us, when we should expect that. If you say that we need to wait another two months- fine, just tell us, because it’ january already and i’m shi*ing myself to lay my fingers on the released CK (and hundreds of users).
    Just say anything! Please!

  9. It’s a shame! Impossible play in ps3!!! Freeze, restart console and many many quest’s bug (Waking nightmare, tonila Guild armor, ecc) and achievment’s error :( please, fix with a patch!!

  10. What do you think is more important people? Fixing the problems with console versions of the game – 90% of Bethesda’s market. (i.e. PS3)

Or releasing a luxury for PC users (that not all PC users will use) – less than 10% of their market?

Besides they have to work with Valve on the extra Steam features and we know what Valve are like for deadlines! XD

  11. The video is actually kinda scary. Especially in the tower when the wall is knocked down, the close up is just… wrong. Music’s alright though.
Am waiting for the CK too, or the KC (Keep checking). I guess though, it’s done when its done. I understand to a extent the lack of release date, because the backlash for delaying a release is often… just plain rude.
However the eta of ‘January’ is killing me. Today? Tomorrow? 2 weeks? Eaaaach. I don’t want to setpos anymore.

Thanks for the Video, and super game.

  12. I’m sure they are working on Creation Kit right now. Something must have been shown to produce unacceptable errors, that’s why it’s not released by now may be.

    • Unacceptable errors? As they said, those are the tools they used to make the game. Now, if these tools show any errors, how did they make the game in the first place?

      • CK’s got to be optimized for regular users, with simplified UI, perhaps reduced functionality. They also said that there’s going to be a user manual – another time consuming thing to make.

      • You must not be a programmer…what’s considered acceptable for internal tools is vastly different from what’s considered acceptable for published tools. Internal tools means the developer using the tool does a workaround or manually edits a file (with either a text editor or a binary editor if needed), or one of many other options, files a bug report and moves on. If that same issue exists then the workaround they used to create the game may not likely be something they want to publicly publish, or not recommend doing since they know it will break in a future version of the engine or what have you (since it’s not “The Right Way To Do It”). Once it’s out there you have to support it for a very long time, it’s a completely different ballgame.

        • Mmmh…so you’re saying that the Creation Kit they used to produce the game is something like a messed up work file one’s using for his job, which none else could understand or employ?

          I could hardly believe it.

Bethesda seems to have pretty large teams. The Creation Kit isn’t probably a work file that only the developer X or Y uses, but something that is some kind of “common ground” between all of them…
moreover…any “hint” found on the Web suggests that the CK is very much similar to the old CS…so they’re not taking it out of the void…
          Jashkar

          • Remember Jashkar,
They are working with conjunction with another company, Valve, so that may be causing issues as both have their own respective priorities to attend to.

          • *face palm*

No, I’m not saying it’s a huge mess, but there could very well be show stoppers for releasing the creation kit that wouldn’t be show stoppers for releasing the game. And yes believe it, that happens all the time.

  13. I was very dissappointed with the responses that I got towards my problems regarding Oblivion, and I was slightly impressed that it didn’t take the Support Team a (literal) month to resolve my issue for Skyrim.

As for the Construction Kit, I don’t care when it is released, seeing as I know that the dev team is probably overwhelmed with bug fixes, UI frendly CK, and user manuals along with helpful videos. I simply don’t understand how you can bash the company that is giving you the CK (which only PC users can get), which they don’t actually have to give you. If they wanted to, they could put the CK price up as high as they wanted. But, no, they are giving it for free. Stop complaining about your little wait. Go to your job, hang with friends, or just plain get a life. Gaming is not all there is in life.

I’m glad you all enjoy Skyrim, but jeeze. It’s not like they are working 24/7 to bring you a free program. They, too, need to be paid. And, they, too, have lives. Ones that don’t entirely revolve around you and your desires (As hard as that is to believe).

Just wait calmly and it will arrive. There’s no rush, seeing as you’ll have years to Mod Skyrim.

    ~Jesse

  14. How could you call this grotesque? It’s freakin’ hilarious! I bet Todd Howard laughed his ass off at it. Stop being so uptight about the “purity” of the game.
