With the Creation Kit’s release, fans can now upload, download, and install custom content through the Skyrim Workshop on Steam. Get a crash course by reading level designer Joel Burgess’ blog post, and be sure to read up on our list of best practices for modding. Need more help? Don’t forget to to check out the official Wiki at www.CreationKit.com. In the coming days and weeks, we’ll be sharing tutorial videos for beginners and experts alike. Check out the first tutorial above, and visit the Bethesda Game Studios YouTube Channel for more.
In addition to releasing the Creation Kit and Skyrim Workshop, today we’re allowing players to experience Skyrim as you’ve never seen it before with the Skyrim High-Resolution Texture Pack. Before downloading it from Steam, make sure your system requirements exceed Skyrim’s recommended specs before attempting to install, including Windows Vista/7, a minimum of 4GB of system RAM, and a DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with at least 1 GB of RAM and the latest drivers.
No files were found meeting your search criteria when following the Steam Workshop link.
maybe they still upload it?
you can download it with steam, open your game library, open up “tools” and download the tool simply titled “Creation kit”, took me a bit to realise that it was Skyrims creation kit because of that name.
YAY!!! FINAL!!!
When I click “Add to cart” on the “High Resolution Texture Pack” I only get a “SORRY, WE COULDN’T ADD YOUR ITEM!” message.
Never mind, works now.
Where the heck do I download the CK from? http://www.creationkit.com is not responding.
Thanks everyone at Bethesda!
And Gstaff for putting up with all the BS from people. Hats off.
Thank you Bethesda. That’s moment like these that make me happy to stick with your games since Morrowind
hey guys
first off my computer exceeds the reccomended setting for skyrim and i downloaded the high res pack and installed it but now my elven armor is purple with no detail on it please let me kno whats happening also its like that for a hand full of armors and items
I think this is because the Hi-Res pack did not finish downloading or something. I’m having the same issue, but I just realized that my download isn’t finished.
Thanks, guys
ABOUT TIME BETH. ABOUT TIME.
Is there a way to download it without using steam? I hate steam, I keep it pushed down with minimal settings and it still slows my computer down. I want a way to run the CK without steam. Is that possible? I want less steam not more.
The moral of the story, Steam is bad.
Is there a way to not use it for the CK?
Nope.
If Steam slows your computer down, your computer must be really old or really bad.
[insert 'not everyone can afford to be getting new PCs all the time' comment]
Doesn’t matter. Steam has such a small system footprint it shouldn’t impact system performance. It is just as likely that doncdxx is simply reporting confirmation bias.
it doesnt support custom meshes…really? was it so difficult to include the f**** exporting plugin for 3dsmax or maya?? Blizzard did so I dont understand why you cant
“Steam servers are busy at the time”!?!Try again later.FU bethesda and your steam garbage.
Where exactly do I download the Creation Kit? It’s not on your company’s Steam page.
Restart your Steam client. Go to View -> Tools. It will be listed under “Creation Kit.” It would have made more sense to list it as something like “Skyrim: Creation Kit” or something. Oh well.
It’s SO GOOOD!!! SO GOOOOD!!!
I LOVE the Video Tutorials!!!
Now I’m going to have my dinner in front of the video tutorials… XD
Jashkar
Thankyou Bethesda, I am now completly satisfied with Skyrim! =D
all this waiting for nothing
So, Bethesda don’t care about fans around the World, because…
“This item is currently unavailable in your region…”
How I am supposed to get the CreationKit? From the air?
You could try being patient. I doubt a simultaneous worldwide release was technically feasible. The servers were already crumpled under the initial barrage of downloads. It will likely be available to you within a day.
Stop whining. Australia and Europe were already playing the game by the time midnight rolled around in the EST time zone in the US.
Thank you so much Bethesda! You guys and gals are proof that the PC gaming platform isn’t dead, and with the right treatment, can excel. Your dedication and commitment is the reason Skyrim is on top of the Steam Stats page everyday.
Good stuff!
Be sure to remember there are many players out here that love what you’ve done, like me.
As for you idiots freaking out cause you’re either to computer stupid to install it, or you ran into a temporary bump, or it’s not released in your country YET; it’s your loss. You can just stop flipping out and try again, or wait a few days, but if you still insist on acting like my teen sister I’m sure Bethesda can live with few angry players, even if they boycott.
thank you so much for the CK, the Texture Pack and especially for the great guides/tutorials/support you offer in terms of mods!
wanted to start the “modding buisness” with oblivion, but sadly it never ever runs stable on my system until today…
skyrim instead is rock solid (and the better game if you ask me) so i will definitly start modding with skyrim.
but i have one small question about the texture pack:
.
can you tell me what resolution those new HD textures have?
steam is almost dead and only loading with 20kb/s so i cant look my self
When I run CK , it gives me a bunch of errors like unable to load ctl and so on after ingnoring all that it crashes, but why?
OH… MY… GODNESS…
I love you guys, i just…
thanks!
Question, Why isn’t there some in game notification to show that I have the Hi Rez textures going?
I have them installed, but there is no visual option that selects them, as one would guess there to be like when Crysis 2 brought hd textures out.
When you start up the game, go to Data Files and make sure hi res textures are checked.
They are esp files in your data directory. They are checked by default when you open the launcher, meaning they are active.
Yeah I figured that out, thanks for the replies though.
Thanks Beth
PS I hope you fixed the navmesh issues that come up in esp files, otherwise this 4 month wait was for nothing.
i’m not the only one having this problem, then? hopefully it will be sorted out soon, in the meantime: yaay tutorials = )
Thanks for the High Res Pack, Bethy, I only seem to have a small bug, even with all mods disabled and a new save the problem persists: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/468609253926278190/D43925E78A2E08A279A18F4F987DEB8F75E2EA1A/
This kit is way to complicated to me. Oh well. Have fun everyone. I will probably try out some of your mods when you make them.
thanks for nothing Bethesda, consoles still have no patch , what a rip off. you should be sued for putting a product on the market unfinished and then only helping the PC players.. they have had more then a month of extra playing.. and now get a bonus perk with the CK, while the console player still can’t play… i will never buy another one of your games and will trash you to anyone who is even thinking of buying your products.. hope you chock on the money you stole from the console players
Haha, you are so funny! You don’t understand that it’s Microsoft and Sony that are keeping you from having the patches! The patch for consoles has been ready since it has for PCs! Lol at you for buying it for console! I got it for PC because I understand how the process works! And its FANTASTIC!!! Chances are, your friend won’t trust your opinion or even care for it since you seem so ignorant. On another note, the game WAS DESIGNED FOR XBOX. So PC players got pushed to the ground for a REAL game. Instead it was readied for consoles and their limitations, now the community has to fix it on PC. You don’t even understand that Bethesda did more for consoles!!! HAHA!!!
Another one of you… I don’t even have a word to describe my distaste.
Console vs. PC is such a ridiculous arguement to make. This idea that PC gamers are some how more intelligent than console gamers is childish. I will have to assume you are in your early teens so perhaps it is not fair to sttack you yet I am absolutely sick of hearing that people should ‘get a game for PC’. I personally have to rely on gifts from people if I want to enjoy a game if I want to have food in my refrigerator so for me, I have no choice. Not everyone has the ability to buy the correct set up.
Also, different people have different abilities. Someone might be able to call themselves computer savvy but ultimately fail at putting up a tent. Someone might be able to perfom brain surgeries but completely suck at… I don’t know… poker. Whatever.
Stop acting like an immature brat.
P.S. If you feel that commenter was being unfair, say so instead of resorting to the console vs. PC malarkay.
Congratulations Bethesda on these fabulous releases and thanks for giving us the power to enjoy even more the epicness that is Skyrim!
Hail Bethesda! They are unstoppable!
Wooo, another bugged texture, Normal Map got mixed up with a Diffuse Map: http://goo.gl/D9cVq
The textures look a bit better, but nothing groundbreaking. Certainly won’t be cuasing lag for most people. In fact, the most important foctor is the ram, when I installed NMC’s textures for Fallout 3, my framerate IMPROVED! No joke lol.
difference seen better on characters, they now have much better detailing. Environments starts just look less blurry, and its very good too
The most important factor for this hi res pack is dedicated memory on the video card. some people might confuse what you said and think motherboard RAM. I have a Geforce GTX470 with 1280MB of dedicated memory, and when walking around outdoors, I hit 1280MB pretty quick. This is just with no mods, but high resolution texture pack enabled, 1080p, 16x AF, 4x MSAA & 2x SSAA. I’m not getting a performance loss with the hi res pack, but I am getting a bit of choppyness when moving the camera around quick. Also objects are fading in sometimes when the screen is really filled with tons of objects. I didn’t get any fading in without the pack. The thing I’ve noticed most about the texture pack is that upclose, things look so much better. When looking at things from afar, the mipmap textures are the same as before, so there’s little difference. The high res texture pack is much more apparent when indoors or in dungeons. Dungeons used to kind of look like crap at high resolutions, but now they look fantastic. I really love this hi res pack. Bethesda really came through.
I’m really impressed with the surprise, I’m looking forward to checking it out tonight
This. Is. Awesome.
Thanks, guys… for both the CK and the surprise (TP).
how long does it take saving terrain texture when creating a new world cell? It doesn’t look like it’s doing anything…
just stalling. I’m still leaving it on, hoping that it’s just going to take forever to load…
In CS it didn’t take long, but in CK… looks like it’s taking a bit of time…
Thank you Bethesda for the CK and the HR gift. Problem though, some others are having too. Can’t get the CK to work at all. get APPCRASH immediately upon opening. there really isn’t anything on the net for a fix, tried changing a bunch of settings, updating DX and nothing. Today was like Xmas for me. any tips on how to get the CK running would be accepted with much gratitude. Thank you.
prob solved, needed to start from steam.
errr why is the CK reporting like 500 warnings/errors saying that i can disable them by clicking “yes to all” but there is no yes to all, only “yes” “no” and “cancel”….
those warnings happen all the time i try to load the Skyrim.esp mainfile in the CK.
(german version here)
have the same. Russian version
I’m pleased for all those who are going to be able to use this.
Now I just have to hope Bethesda continues to deliver. I’m dying to play my xBox 360 version.
Glad to see this up and running. All the resources you are making available for this kit will be very useful to me. I have done plenty of work in school in Maya but modding is going to be a new endeavor for me. Hoping to start a modelling project in the near future for a mod
YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!
Bethesda, you’re best game developers on this time!
You, and Valve))
Steam is the Worst, im still downloading since last night the Texture Pack, its going to take the whole day to get it done, could i have atleast get the Texture Pack without Steam.
Try to change downloading server, Germany and Ukraine usually less busy
Im from South Africa and we share the same Server
Yeah you just killed fan made modding sites by teaming up with Steam. This is how I feel but hey it’s not a bad thing, I think…
I used to be an illegal downloader but then I got an arrow to the knee and bought the game
Hats off to you Bethesda, this is the way gaming should be.
Ack! I made the mistake of getting the texture pack, thinking it would be downloadable separately, like the CK. My connection is total crap, so I thought I’d install Steam at work and just download it here. But noooo, it’s treated like an update…
There’s no way I’m installing Skyrim here, and no way I’m downloading 3 gigs at home.
How do I get rid of this?
Am I really stuck with having to download the texture pack?
Now, and every time I install Skyrim?
Gee, thanks, Steam.
By the way: I hate Steam. I really, really hate it.
Did I mention I hate Steam?
For people having trouble with the error messages at the start: from ages past, the “cancel” button have been acting as “yes to all” as far as Beth’s sdk’s are concerned. Just hit it and voilá!
NICE WORK BETH !!! Love IT.
Hey Gstaff, could you ask Bethesda to make Barbas a Companion, it would be nice to have an Immortal Dog with you, give the Player the Ability to Summon Barbas whenever you come to the Shrine and the Dog Appears, then if you want Barbas to go away, he will just walk back to the Shrine.
Its sad to let him just go after the Quest is done, but you dont Own a Dog yourself witch you can Only Hire from Markarth for 500 Gold.
Find Meeko.
Poor Meeko is a dog whose owner died. He spends his days sitting alone near a shack far south of Solitude.
He’ll team up with you as a companion.
Alternatively, you can find a “stray dog” in a certain random encounter.
Meeko became a faithful follower of mine, I grew fond of him so told him to stay at Breezehome so he wouldn’t get hurt. Went and did a few quests. Came home and no Meeko at home, instead an Imperial Guard sitting in my living room.
Nice work Beth.
I find it very nice from Bethesda to make these tutorials! It’s not usual for a company to do this additional work for the community. A big THANKS! Bravo!!
No, it really isn’t usual. The developers really deserve an applause. Here’s to you Bethesda:
Ive bought Skyrim finally : D
Can you please release the nif exporter plugin for 3dsmax?
Thanks
Can you please update your HD texture pack? ^^ some textures are in the folders but does not work properly.. and some items are dublicated in game and causes a neonblue colour to happen!
Thanks!
@Ztreek
At some point we’ll have an update
any news about the “buggy” CK for non english version?
running skyrim in german leads to massive errors/warnings when using the CK everytime i try to load Skyrim.esp.
and as you can read a few posts above, the russian version seems to have the same issue. thats why i guess that all non english versions are affected!
a workaround / fix would be really awesome!
Thanks Gstaff
