PC and PS3 fans, prepare to cast off. Next month, you will travel to Solstheim, home of Skyrim’s latest add-on, Dragonborn. PS3 fans can expect an expanded itinerary – with stops at Fort Dawnguard and Castle Volkihar – before heading back to the home of your dreams. Details below:
PC: On Tuesday, February 5th, Dragonborn will be available on Steam, including the English, French, Italian, Spanish and German versions of the content.
PlayStation 3: Dragonborn will be the first add-on arriving on PSN in February. Hearthfire will release next, followed by Dawnguard, and all three should be out in February. The 1.8 update will also release, just prior to Dragonborn. We’ll keep you posted as release dates get finalized both on our end and with Sony for each and its various languages. Last but not least, each one will be 50% off during their launch week on PSN.
Over the last year, it’s been a treat for us to work on new content for Skyrim, and we’re excited that it will soon be available for everyone to explore. Thanks for all your support and sharing your adventures with us.

Yes!!! I knew you guys would pull it off!
thank goodness!
Well.. thanks for releasing the PC version I guess. No need to hold it back 2 months.. but eh.. Maybe next time you’ll learn from your mistakes..
2 months after. Yeah, that’s just one month after the Xbox release date.
Finally, PS3 can finally see what the DLC is all about. Lucky them that they get half price aswell.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THANKS BETHESDAAAAA!
Yes! At last, been playing Skyrim on my ps3 since it went out, at last I’ll have new things to do
Good to see this Gstaff thank you for releasing this update information as we look forward to the DLC on PS3 in February. Bethesda no matter what people say about your company you guys really do care for us gamers and I appreciate that.
no they don’t care lmao.
they should have added an extra sentence to this article, “sorry for making you put up with our bullshit that we call PR and a company in general.”
I already traded my PS3 copy in and got the PC version after I upgraded my PC, but I’m glad those who stuck it out with the PS3 are finally gonna get the DLC. Darn straight you give it to em half off.
Do we have to wait months again to get it released in Eastern-Europe? I really hope that you don’t discriminate us again!
WHERE’S THE PC New… oh, so you’re releasing this on PC and PS3? I guess I’ll just find something else to complain about. Well done.
Well you havent fulfilled that part where you said, pc version 1 month after xbox…. this is more like 2 months.
I appreciate that you guys were working as hard as possible to bring the DLC to PS3 but only 50% off for a week? Fair enough, Dragonborn should be a paid bit of content (it being new and all), but you’d think with the delays it’d be a sign of good faith to extend the discount for the other DLCs permanently or even make Dawnguard free for a period of time(should note I’m an Xbox owner btw, just feel bad for PS3 owners).
While glad to have some news, I am annoyed that it’s so late, I figured in January when I had some free time on my hands I could play Dragonborn. But now its out in Feb and I’m going to be too busy to play it.
Least its announced… but I don’t have to like the time frame.
Ealy 2013 does not mean Early January.
No, it didn’t say early January. It said 30 day exclusive!
Now it’s a 60 day 360 exclusive. This time they just f’d up FAR TOO MUCH!
It was early january (back in decemer), then they changed it to early 2013
February 5th is a Tuesday. I am not able to download add-ons on a Tuesday. I’m very disappointed that you’re releasing it on a Tuesday. With this kind of lack of caring for my feelings, I’m going to have to think twice about purchasing anything from Bethesda again.
The line “I’m not going to purchasing a game from *Inset company here* ever again” Is ridiculous, Do you really think anyone really cares about your feelings besides your loved ones? Stop whining at Bethesda for not patting you on the back and giving you a reach around while they release the game according to your schedule… STOP WHINING NO ONE CARES.
You can’t download add-ons on a tuesday, and so you won’t buy another Bethesda game ever again? Do you realize how stupid that comment is? It is your own fault if you can’t download games on Tuesday’s for whatever reason that might be. That’s a YOU problem, not a Bethesda problem. I think it’s great what they are doing. After their troubles with the PS3 they are heavily discounting everything for them upon the release, not to mention fully catching them up to the other systems.
Be glad they care enough to release expansions in the first place. So ridiculous…
Oh come now, you can’t expect Bethesda to arrange the date JUST for you. Quit acting like an entitled little cuss.
Let’s just have them push it back another year.
You will think twice. But you still will buy it anyways.
I think he was being sarcastic about my disapproval of the date in which it comes out because I have too much to do that month to play Dragonborn.
When I was only stating I was annoyed at the timing, didn’t mean I wouldn’t buy it.
I’m going to buy it, not even going to wait for it to go on sale. It’s a clever marketing strategy, make the PC users wait so long that even though they could wait for it to go on sale they waited so long they can’t wait to get it and thus buy it full price.
Also helps them not lose so much money when they offer all 3 DLC for a reduced price on PS3 because more PC users will pay full price gladly having waited so long.
Actually when Dawnguard came out i did not buy it. I was waiting so long that when they finally announced it’s PC launch, i just was not interested. But then after some time it started the Steam seals and i saw that it was half off so i ended up buying it. But who lost money in the end was Bethesda because if it came out at the same time as the Xbox version i would have bought it at full price. Maybe the same thing happened to other people as well. So i wonder if this deal with Microsoft is really worth it. Maybe it is that’s why they did it.
But i will defiantly buy it in 5th of February that’s for sure. It helps to know the date it will be available to download.
It’s not Beht’s fault nor is it Steam’s fault that it’s due for release on a Tuesday. That’s the way the US works with these things. The EU probably won’t get it ’til the following Friday, which is they it works here.
Nice!
Wait does this mean that Dragonborn will be 50% off aswell?
yes
Thanks for the discount on all three. Was not expecting that.
Most excellent news, though, by Gadfrey, it’s about time. Good show.
I am so glad to see some great news brought to us today! I am really looking forward to February! And the PS3 discount is very much appreciated!
Finally!!!! Shoot, We have been waiting long enough for this!!!
Thank you very much Bethesda for all the hard work. I’ll keep true to my word and actually buy all 3 DLC because they are half off like the XBOX marketplace deals.
Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you! You guys are awesome, and while its been a wait and a half, I’m so glad you guys didn’t just scrap the whole thing and leave us hanging. This PS3 user will be waiting patiently and excitedly for the releases. Cheers!
About time and has the water glitches and door glitches been fixed yet so I can continue playing without having to start over for the third time.
thank you so much bethesda, you truly are awesome! and that discount on ps3: epicness!
Will PC get 50% off Dragonborn? Seems unfair if PS3 get it at the same time but half price. Though nothing about this whole ordeal has been fair. Here’s to my Playstation Dovah brothers!
Two months, you guys remember the xbox exclusivity was one month right? Or did microsoft throw you an extra bag of money to screw the other systems over for longer?
thanks Bethesda, i know how hard you guy have tried for this and we are very grateful for the discount. Since we i have waited so long for dawngaurd etc. , i think i will enjoy it more
It’s about time.
Thanks for the news Gstaff!
Swell news, but I’m kind of wondering… how did they solve the ps3 issues with the gamesave/loading-times?
@gstaff oh my goodness Finally!!! this wasnt on my radar anymore but im glad its gonna be out on feb. good to know. congrats beth! i do hope we learned something from this? no more exclusivity!!! thanks for the update.
“The Dragonborn Comes”
Ha.
Also, the 50% off for ps3 is a nice gesture.
why the delay? a new patch in the works?
May I inquire about the chances of a sale for the xbox versions of the dlc in the near future? I know we had a one day sale in new year’s eve, but a lot of people, such as me, weren’t able to access their systems on that rather unique date.
Cheers!
If there’s any sale plans, we’ll share them as they happen. We’ve definitely done Xbox LIVE sales in the past.
should be free for the amount of time we all had to wait considering no other game franchise would pull this B.S. Also the fact that the only source of updates was @DCDeacon on twitter with the classic “when I find out I will give you more info”
Amazing news, thank you Bethesda!
Thank you for the update, Bethesda.
Having waited in high anticipation for the Dragonborn dlc for skyrim to be released on pc and it still not being released for 2 MONTHS after the microsoft exclusivity deal (which should have ended after the first 2 dlcs) released xbox version I thought I would write to you and hope you could answer a few questions for me:
1. Why is it 2 months late when the exclusivity deal should have ended?
2. Is there another exclusivity deal with microsoft?
3. If there is no new deal, after Dragonborn will all the dlcs be released concurrently, as they should have been from the beginning?
4. How do you think that pc gamers, your most loyal fanbase I might add, and ps3 users for that matter are feeling about Bethesda now after all these underhanded deals just so microsoft can stick its hand into the pot first?
Just so I’m not taken as a xbox hater, I own an xbox360, and have since 2005. I own Oblivion and all it’s dlcs on both pc and xbox, something I vowed not to repeat with Skyrim due to microsoft’s, as I saw it, underhanded money grabbing deal. I also own Morrowind on pc, and honestly i think you have a lot to learn from those days when consoles werent your main focus, and pc users could enjoy your varied offerings without waiting for a month, or more as the case is. But we are not petty, and happy to have you release the dlcs concurrently.
In summary please, please, please consider how jaded you are making the pc and ps3 communities with your blatant and unfair bias towards micro$oft. Please release your dlcs from now on concurrently, honestly most gamers would rather wait and everyone have a release in a few months, rather than wait while one group has a biased first grab.
Yours Loyally (for now),
Tom Walsh
(Originally written in the bethesda contact form (http://bethsoft.com/en-gb/contact) which evidently doesn’t work.)
Haven’t put the game down for a year… Now I never will. Thanks
In addition to the above, its about damn time.
PC version doesn’t take 60 days. WTF is this? Your holding it back to make the PS3 crowd feel better.
Get your misbegotten facts right. Where in holy hell did they say the PC version would be out straight after the Xbox version?
I’m on the PC and you see me whinging while uising someone else’s GUESSWORK and MISUNDERSTANDING.
Or rather, you *don’t* see me whinging.
Sorry, but what facts are misbegotten, and who said the pc version would be out straight after the xbox version except you?
The person your replying to simply stated that it doesn’t take 60 days to port a dlc to pc, which it doesn’t. And honestly I share his/her attitude that bethesda is making pc customers wait unnecessarily long, to soften the ps3 users blow.
This:
“Your holding it back to make the PS3 crowd feel better.”
It’s still coming out before the PS3 version.
What’s this have to do with your need to become airborne?
LOL! I was thinking the same
2/5 is the release date when it will be ready for PC. Right around the corner
Yeah, but the PC version must of been available when you released the Xbox one.. Why hold it back?
If it was, they would have released it then.
No they wouldn’t/didn’t release it because Microsoft pays them to not release it on anything except Xbox.
Will Dragonborn also be 50% off for PC? Or is that just PS3?
Dragonborn will be full price on PC.
The 50% off offer is for PlayStation fans. We wanted to do something for everyone on PS3 because they’ve been waiting so long for any content to be released.
Fair enough. I’m a little confused about why Dragonborn is in that 50% deal when PC gamers have had to wait just as long for it, but it’s up to Bethesda to make those decisions, not me =P
Thanks for the clarification =)
I can understand that to some degree, but you should offer a cheaper price (like 15) for PC users for making us wait about 63 days for Dragonborn, even if it’s only on the release day. It still feels like us PC users who kept you going before Morrowind and especially oblivion on consoles made you bank, are being punished.
PS3 players getting DB at 50% off and Xbox players getting the game multiple months early, and PC players get to pay full price for it. Yeah, that’s a real nice gesture. Thanks………………………..
Guys, everyone but xbox has to wait a month for content because Bethesda currently has a deal with Microsoft. PS3 is getting discounted because they were waiting more than both xbox and PC for Dawnguard and Hearthfire combined. So the gesture is extremely kind, considering they technically are not obligated to release content to all platforms in the first place.
Jason@ The thing is the PS3 users have got no add-on since Dawnguard came out.
But i understand what you mean. Making that deal with Microsoft just ended up pissing out a lot of people. I was not one of those murmuring about it even thou i am a PC user. But that deal with Microsoft kinda of made me think: Really Bethesda, really.
But anyhow it’s great to see Bethesda making it cheaper for the PS3 crowd.
@Stayler Yeah I know, I was just in a sense of surprise when I wrote that. I understand fully why they are doing it, and unlike others I can accept it.
There are two Xbox exclusive DLC for Skyrim, Dawnguard and Dragonborn. They told us this months before Skyrim was even released.
A discount for PS3. Nice! Maybe Beth DOES listen.
well am happy to know when Dragonborn is come out for the PC in 18 or so days, but what piss me off is that the whole 61 days after the Xbox, it batter be bug free if making us (your bead and butter) the PC players wait so long
I note no specific date for the PS3 crowd. February 5th for PS3 Dragonborn, or later?
February is just around the corner, and it’s a really really short month, anyhow.
We’re finalizing the PS3 dates. We’ll post them when we got em
Coming Feb!!!! 2015….
I too thank you for the update and all of your hard work on getting the dlc to your fans!!!!!
We have waited along time BUT I’m sure it will have been worth the wait. Bethesda games KICK ASS!!
Yeah I’m not interested.
Will PC users also be getting Dragonborn at 50% off during launch week?
Nice try mate but I sincerely doubt it. Would be nice though after the long wait.
I wouldn’t think so. We haven’t been left out the DLC for as long.
Dragonborn is well worth full price, in any case!
Uhhhh yes we have, no matter how you look at it both PS3 and PC players have not had access to the dragonborn DLC for the same amount of time. I get them getting hearthfire and dawnguard for 50% off but why dragonborn? Doesn’t bode well for the goodwill to PC players who honestly supported this company in it’s beginnings.
I wasn’t referring to just Dragonborn, but Dawnguard and Hearthfire as well.
Excellent… I needed something to do in February before all my March releases. Thanks a bunch!
Awesome news Beth, thanks! Will there be also a boxed Version for PC or only Steam?
Another Question:
What about “First Person Riding”?, Are there any plans at the moment or may we hope at all, that we get that one day??
Thanks
Hopefully. At present the horse controls are clunky at best.
Oh, and Dual Wielding is also badly implemented. “Click Click Click Click dead” is not really all that well planned.
“Hopefully” on both questions. I like having a hard copy so I don’t run my Download Allowance into the ground on one thing.
Boxed version? For a DLC? Yeah, no. Not happening. An expansion? Maybe. But DLC, no way.
I thought Dragonborn was an expansion.
There calling it Add-On’s now.
That’s the term that both Sony and Microsoft use for content. Once they’re available on PlayStation Store, they’ll be listed as such.
Already tweeted this @Bethblog, so sorry if this is duplicitous. “Over the last year, it’s been a treat for us to work on new content for Skyrim, and we’re excited that it will soon be available for everyone to explore. Thanks for all your support and sharing your adventures with us.”
That sounds an awful lot like a farewell. Does this mark the end of Skyrim DLC?
I hope not.
Although I’m happy that it’s finally released, I don’t think I’m going to buy it. Sadly, after this bad experience with Bethesda, I truly believe that Skyrim will be my last Game from you all. I’m not as disappointed with You guys for taking this long to release the DLC as I am with the lack of information as to why it was this late. Yes I know there were errors in the game dealing with ps3, and I appreciate you guys trying to fix them all before releasing it, but Why were there glitches? Did you all not work out the ps3 version of the game FOR ps3 specifically, or was it just concentrated on xBox and pc and then you all rushed the ps3 version for the release date?
I have followed the dlc news for ps3 since Dawnguard and I feel like I know nothing of why it was this late. I will buy the DLC if I can find out what went wrong, since that seems to be my biggest deal with you all right now.
Good question Jason. I also would like to know that answer. All the previous dlc came out roughly a month after Xbox release
Great News! will the discount still be valid for UK Skyrim owners as well
Yes
Is this the last of xbox 30 day exclusivity? Will future dlc be released at the same time?
