Now on Steam: Skyrim 1.9 (Update)

Update (3/18): Beginning today, Steam users can download the Skyrim 1.9 title update – featuring Legendary new features (see below) and new bug fixes. For console players out there, we’re hoping to release 1.9 later this month — we’ll keep you updated when we have specific dates.

So what’s in the update? Check the changelog below…

Skyrim 1.9

NEW FEATURES

  • Legendary difficulty setting

  1. You’re actually a good webmaster. The website loading velocity is amazing. It kind of feels that you’re doing any distinctive trick. In addition, The contents are masterwork. you’ve done a fantastic activity in this matter!

  2. totally just thought about fighting the ebony warrior and karstaag on legendary, that’s going to be fun. maybe try and one shot the ebony warrior on legendary considering iv done it on master legitimately and without sneaking or using that 6.5k dmg pot. 4.2k dmg highest legit hit so far… whats urs?

  3. there doing one of the biggest things that we have all asked for sints the game came out. (raise the level cap)
and its not just 1 or 10 levels. were talking another full 80 levels (if every skill can be turned legendary and it takes 80 lvls to max out) and with the Oghma Infinium you basically could get all (161) levels in a day (or 2). so in many ways i can understand why they are taking away the Oghma Infinium glitch. and i can see how it is a fair trade off (you can have more lvls but we want you to work for them). but at the same time for a console gamer like me, the HOURS it take to hunt and grind lvls (especially when you are trying to lvl up skills that your character is not set up to use) the Oghma Infinium glitch is very helpful to just finish off those last few lvls and skill so that we can get right to the game its self

  4. Release the glitch fix of miraak. Or at least make him out of ethereal form after 1-2 minute if he can’t absorb any dragon soul. The glitch is annoying

  5. I’m 100% getting stuck in Night Mother’s coffin during “Death Incarnate”. Rebooting the Xbox 360 console doesn’t help :( Any ETA for the official release of this patch? Or any workaround before the patch is released?

  6. I just want Bethesda to fix the Miraak boss fight. Right now, I’m stuck because we won’t absorb the dragon soul after you’ve done damage to him. I can’t go anywhere, so my save is practically broken because of it.

  7. i would like a new npc that would allow players to get rid of quest items that can’t be given to their proper npc’s (e.g. killed off accidentally during a 3x dragon attack). that would be very helpful.

  8. and another thing. is a way to re-activate the shout walls. my xbox 360 game save has all shouts learned except for the dismay lvl 3 and all 3 word walls are blank. no glowing tiles/symbols.

  9. with the level cap i have xbox 360 and have modded the my level to 61535 would this effect the legendary skills in anyway

  10. So you’re not fixing the Drain vitality/marked to death glitch?

This is so upsetting, theDLC I paid for is breaking the game and has deleting the DLC won’t help because you lose all your DLC stuff and I spent loads of time building homdreads too.

It’s nice to see these bugs being fixed but we console gamers have to wait for psychedelic and the DLC needs to be patched, don’t ignore us like you did with the Oblivion blood grass glitch.

    So please FIX the DLC.

  11. I was wondering about a number of things:

    1. The Black Books remain quest items after completing their respective quests. Is there a reason for this, or will it be corrected so that they can be shelved?

    2. Will Fists of Steel ever be adjusted to do the full armor rating in damage, rather than just the base rating? Perhaps something more reasonable can be done if full armor rating is too ridiculous.

    3. Aela the Huntress seems to only give lycanthropy one time if asked to do so.

    4. Stones of Barenziah do not stack after taking on “No Stone Unturned”

    5. Attunement Sphere and Runed Lexicon remain quest items after “Discerning the Transmundane”.

    6. The Left Eye of the Falmer sometimes turns into a regular item and cannot be sold to Delvin Mallory to be placed on the shelf behind the Guild Master’s desk.

    7. While in third-person view, kill cams randomly switch to first person. Will it be corrected so that each respective view will yield an appropriately viewed kill cam, or at least eliminate the switch from third-person?

Obviously most of these things are pretty minor but having them fixed would be great. The issue regarding Aela, on the other hand, is pretty major, and it would be fantastic for something to be done about it.

  12. how about the glitch with duplicate drain vitality shout? except the duplicate has the same words as marked for death? ever game i start gets that when i get into the dawngaurd questline. im on xbox btw.

  13. If Bethesda’s reps/devs/other actually read these. I’d like to suggest updates for 2.0, as well as simple game-play ideas to improve immersion.

    1. ALLOW COMPANIONS TO HAVE THEIR STATS UPDATED TO YOUR LEVEL

(Having potential companions get their health and stats locked in as soon as you enter the area in which they reside is quite disappointing. They should be able to level with you, at least in terms of Health stats.)

    2. FIX THE ISSUE WITH COMPANIONS BEING PERMANENTLY WEAKENED BY THE “MARKED FOR DEATH” SHOUT

    3. FIX THE RARE ISSUE IN THE “ARNIEL’s ENDEAVOR” QUEST WHERE HEATING THE CONVECTOR FAILS TO PROGRESS THE QUEST OBJECTIVE

    4. CREATE AN OPTIONAL SURVIVAL MODE. (for consoles)

I don’t know if this will be included in the “Legendary” difficulty, but you did this in Fallout 3, it boggles me why you would fail to include such a feature in Skyrim, a game in which survival against the elements should play an obvious role, given the presence of harsh elements, and food which would otherwise be useless, or highly ineffective at higher levels. This leads me to my next point.

    5. ADD A WIDER VARIETY OF ATRONACH FORGE RECIPES

This would be a great way to put more clutter items to use, and to create magical staves, or unenchanted staves to use for Enchanting.

You could even create poisoned apples with an apple, and a human heart.

    6. ENABLE SNEAK ATTACKING IN THE COMPANION COMMANDS MENU

A couple of followers have good sneak stats, but fail to use them offensively.

    7. CREATE A DIGGING SYSTEM

As a nod to the Fable games, you should have the ability to use shovels in the game to dig graves, and other obvious/semi-obvious areas. You can axe wood, pickaxe ore, but you can’t use shovels? What? Being able to give a command in the menu to dog companions to sniff out potential dig-sites would be another nod to Fable, as well as a useful ability to make the dig feature not totally tedious.

  14. Awesome fixs and updates for 1.9. :)

Will the Alik’r Guards be fixed in a future update? (Regardless of whether Saadia or Kematu dies in In My Time of Need they keep coming back into Whiterun and keep being seen in Skyrim annoying a Redguard woman.)

Also will the opposite side’s Captains fixed in a future update? [so that they become killable for those of us who won the war](They serve no purpose after your side wins the war.)

PS Thank you for making sure all PS3, 360 and PC Skyrim owners get the same DLC and the same ammount of DLC! :)

  15. I wish Bethesda would fix the game to work above 120fps and add native multi-monitor support, the first one is just stupid and the second is weird considering Oblivion had it.

  16. Guys, please can you fix the hostile Dexion bug on Xbox? I can’t progress any further with Dawnguard because of this.

  17. here are some of the glitches i wish they would fix…. first, don’t ever get a stray dog. i had one with my dawnguard character, now it won’t let me get a armed troll are husky… it says i have a pet. second, i have in the forgotten vale going to a shrine, and the game just froze… that was after i just killed 2 very bad things, i don’t want to give any spoilers, but i was not happy at all… third, my save file got corrupted when i entered my hearthfire home, i made it in ok but everyone in the house was just standing around, they were moving but weren’t going anywhere… well when i saved my game over the progress i just did, i left the house and it froze. when i resarted the ps3 and loaded my save file, it said the data was corrupted… i was about to beem my game controller through my tv and never play again… but i love this game, i just don’t like how this could have been tested… maybe the ps3 version should be the beta, not pc. then maybe they could work through these issues once and for all.

    • Pc is the beta because that was what The elder scrolls started on then the xbox then the PS3 and with how bad the PS3 handles the game the majority would say test on the PS3 LAST we dont want a year of waiting for it to come out.

P.S. complain to sony if you dont like it its their ass backwards programming and if you dont think its that the xbox and the pc programming is microsoft so whats that make the PS3 of consoles oh wait i know the real shitbox MAC

      • There programmers and software makers… if we had to wait for a year ( for something that works ) so be it… Why do we even talking about this, when all we want is for someone to do there job.

    • I really wish that they would fix the pet bug too!! I don’t know how I got it but it constantly says that I have a pet!! I am already far into the game and don’t wish to restart but I really want my pet!!!

  18. I really hope the disappearing hood glitch gets fixed sometime soon. >< But I'm still happy to see some of the things on the list.

  19. i have over 400 hrs plus on at least 2 of my characters and i got about every race and factions there is… i would be glad to be a beta tester for any of there games, and believe me if i got a issue i would tell ya… i thought some of these lessons would have been fixed, because fallout nv had the same issues… if you really want to drop a ball and get this thing rollin right, listen to you customers… we know what we want. if we want to cheat on a single player game, let em cheat, if you want to take your time and explore everything, let em… but what one person want might not be what everyone want. if you want to fix this, give everyone a chance to do the beta and deside then…

  20. Most of the fixes in this list seem almost trivial. Why doesn’t Bethesda provide a means for the player base to decide what bugs should have the highest priority of being fixed?

  21. Another question: Will there be an update to allow shouts on horses (obviously some would be ineligible, such as Whirlwind Sprint), or is this an intentional design feature?

I ask because I’ve always had loads of fun diving off the Throat of the World on a horse and playing human pachinko, and adding Become Ethereal to the equation would make it that much more fun. Of course, using it for combat purposes would be great too, but that’s just a side effect ;)

Similarly, I’ve been playing a pure mage character and found that horseback combat is out of the question when spells are your one and only weapon. Might this be added in a future update?

  22. I play on ps3 and my game save is approaching 20mb, 600 plus hrs. The game runs smoothly for awhile then starts to lag horribily after awhile. The dawnguard vampire transformation runs horrible compared to the werewolf, which is still not that great. Will the memory subility fix this? Also, I have dead dragons that appear at my falkreath house and in whiterun that are quite annoying.

  23. Dear Bethesda,

please please please fix the glitch with associated with Arniel’s Endeavor quest. More specifically, the portion of the quest that requires one to put the warped soul gem in the final convector and then use Arniel’s spell on it. No matter how many different convectors I use the quest will never update. Please help!!! But besides that, thank you for an absolutely amazing game!!

  24. I hope they bring out more dlc soon, but not sure if my ps3 save can handle anymore. As for increasing the level cap… Great, but there’s not much to do other then hunt and wait for enemies to respawn, once you’ve completed the story and most side quests.

  25. Dawnguard’s got an issue where clearing the radiant location for the bear-hunter guy before you get the quest will break it. I cleared it before Dawnguard was even out, and now I can’t advance the damn questline.

  26. It is nice to see so many bug fixes rolling out! That is definitely needed. Two of my least favorite glitches haven’t seemed to be fixed, it seems. In Dawnguard, when traveling to Castle Volkihar for the first time sometimes the gate will open but the door will be unable to be opened. And the other is that my Ancient Shrouded Armor set disappeared after being placed in a chest. Does anybody else have these problems/know if they have attempted to fix these?

  27. Please, for the love of pretty much everything, fix the glitches in the “Regain the…” quests! Because of those glitches I can’t finish the main faction quest and my cities are stuck in limbo making Hearthfire unusable. That’s ridiculous, this glitch has been around since the game first came out and I don’t much care for the thought that I wasted money on an add-on I can’t use.

  28. Did they ever fix “blood on the ice” for your first character, or can you still not buy a house in Windhelm?

  29. Hi can you please fix the problem when u are in the cave try to get aerials bow when u are fighting all the frozen guys that it keep freezing and the game crashes thanks

  30. To clarify, If one uses the legendary feature to reset a skill, and the perks are returned, when one levels up, would it not receive a perk for leveling up? In time, would this not allow every tree to have every perk on it?

  31. Things not mentioned in the change log: (1.9 on PC)
    * Roggvir seems to be alive again and working all day on the grindstone near his execution place, and the Stormcloak guards don’t seem to mind. (no cheat/console involved, he just sat there when I entered Solitude after the patch)
    * The Riverwood trader has been reduced from his exceptional 11500 Gold down to the regular 2250 Gold (with full perks) – thanks Bethesda for that nerf! *arrrrgghh*

… but in exchange, there’s a ton of annoying bugs still unfixed ever since release (non-stacking filled Soul Gems messing up the inventory list, double mouse cursor after alt-tabbing, Farkas and Vilkas not giving work quests thus rendering the Cleansing quests unobtainable, Fralia Gray-Mane being unaffected by Speech perks, followers running on the spot after zoning – that’s just a few of those bothering me in the last two hours!)

    • ha ha… i got a whole chest full of unstacked petty soul gems lol… i don’t know why, im just OCD like that. but ya there’s another one

  32. “Fixed rare instance of couriers who would appear only dressed in a hat”

Finally. In my case it was rare to find a courier clothed.

  33. I have an issue with dragons dying instantly when they land. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it happens quite often.

Could you please try to fix this Bethesda? It unbalances the game if dragons die instantly…

Thanks for the huge update, btw. Very appreciated, especially after so long time after release.

  34. I’ve heard a few people argueing about glitches, and I just have one thing to say about ONE glitch. The Oghma Infinium glitch. I have never used it – yet. I am currently on my fourth playthrough of Skrim. I previously got to level 43, 47, 74 and I’m currently level 17 – not because I finished the games. No, because of bloody glitches.

As a result of a number of glitches, I had to restart my game over and over, or not actually complete it. This is the four time and I am SO SICK of it! The only reason I’m still playing is because I’m planning on using that glitch to level my character back up to where I was – no further, I want to play it properly. I’m even willing to re-do all he quests, but it’s ridiculous right now. At one point I /ran/ from a simple /drauger/. I was ashamed.

So although yes, glitches like that are exploited, if a game is full of glitches like in my case it can be used if not for ‘good’, but to keep players from losing hope entirely. People who use them without playing through properly on the hardest mode of a game at least once are simply cheaters, and don’t deserve their titles – but the rest of us shouldn’t be punished for their dishonour.

Please at least wait before fixing he Oghma Infinium glitch. I just need to clear out Blackreach and to get the Lexacon – I’m so close… though not looking forward to the Falmer. Dx

  35. When are they gonna fix that problem about not jumping while sprinting? Nothing ruins the immersion of an open world game like unrealistic restrictions on free movement.

  36. THANK YOU for FINALLY fixing the “No Stone Unturned” glitch with Vex!

But a question: Why did you feel it was necessary to take on the role of “Fun Police” and fix the Oghma Infinium exploit? What’s the point in that?

  37. Hopefully patch 1.9 will fix the lag issues with the PS3 version of Skyrim. In my experience the DLC doesn’t seem to be playing nicely with the rest of the game. I’ve finished Dawnguard but wherever I go in Skyrim some horrible stuttering kicks in after half an hour which makes the game more or less unplayable.

I’m not really keen on starting again with a new character, since it’s annoying making so much progress only to lose it because of the lag, and starting again and losing it all again because of the lag, again. I’ll wait to see if patch 1.9 makes a difference. Hopefully. :)

  38. The book glitch was just that. a glitch.

the argument that “i’ve completed it before” fails at the first hurdle, as you may have completed it as a sword and shield tank with barely any magic, but the play experience is totally different if you choose to play as a stealthy archer or as a mage.

while the main story may be the same, by using this particular glitch you are cheating yourself out of most of the new experience you would get while playing a different type of character.

some of the more interesting character builds i have seen have purposefully limited the character to using a single weapon type and single school of magic.

simply put, don’t cheat, play properly.. make interesting decisions regarding your character, and stick to them. you will find your game experience will likely be more enjoyable from it.

  39. Nooooooooooo! Please don’t remove the Oghma Infinium glitch! It’s the only way to level up quickly if you are on your 4th+ character. Sometimes you don’t want to grind to level. Our games are single player, so the OP character’s do not affect anyone else’s game, so why not keep it in the game. PC gamers get to use the console to level up and mods, so why not give us console gamers a little extra help? You don’t have to use it!

  40. even though the patch came out i still cant get serano to marry me if i side with the vampires during dawnguard quests. i also dont get specific rooms of the home you buy in whiterun decorated even after buying it, loading and trying again, even starting the whole game over. would be nice to see that fixed.
