If you fire up The Evil Within today, you will notice the game will patch automatically with a new game update.
With the update, players with high-end PCs will be able to go in to their settings and toggle between running the game with a 30 FPS cap or a 60 FPS cap. Additionally, players will be able to disable the letterbox “black bars” in the game settings — allowing you to maximize your screen’s real estate.

No letterboxing? Rejoice, just unlock the FPS please! The problem with locked 60fps is, if the fps hits below 60 –say 59– vsync kicks in and automatically locks the game to 30. If you continuously jump between 60 and 30, it causes stutter because of the dramatic shift in fps. So please, I would rather game in say, 59 or even 45, but vsync is just a badcall. At least give us the option to completely unlock the fps? I have been playing with unlocked fps and not once i had a problem with the game using the console command.
Great,Now to sort out the T.V issue,Because i would love to play this on my 42inch T.V via HDMI but it bugs out on my T.V. It doesn’t fit correctly.
Yeah same thing happened to me on my tv the full screen has a bug now zooming in waaayyy to much in 1080 resolution
Please remove letterbox on consoles.. please !

how about the ability to adjust fov, like a fov slider, because the game is too zoomed in on the main character. there was a program called flawless widescreen that fixed it and made the game playable with the black bars removed, but the fw program doesn’t work after the latest update.
please make this possible for consoles as well, playing on a small tv makes it a pain
Hi, I’m playing the pc version on a pc through a 47inch hdtv, I only get the top left corner of the screen no matter what resolution I change to, I can’t even view the settings in the paused menu. Running an r9 270, 8gb ram, amd athlon 760k. Any help would be massively appreciated
