It’s Standalone
As we’ve stated previously, you don’t need Wolfenstein: The New Order to play The Old Blood. They’re separate games, and there is no save file carryover between the two. If you’re into great first-person shooter games, we’d certainly love you to play both. If you’ve played The New Order already, it’ll be exciting to see how the early events of the game were set into motion. If you haven’t played either, the $20 price tag gives you a great introduction into MachineGames’ new take on the Wolfenstein universe.
We’ll leave it up to you to determine how your loved ones experience the two games — deciding between playing the original or the prequel first.
Pre-Load and System Requirements after the break…
Pre-Ordering/Pre-Loading
At close to 40 GB on all three platforms (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC), we recommend pre-ordering the game so that you can pre-load and be ready to play when the game goes live.
PC Requirements
A year after the release of The New Order, we’ve made some tweaks to the system requirements and included both Minimum and Recommended specifications. Recommended system requirements mean exactly what you’d think: this is the benchmark of how to play the game as the development team intended it to be played.
We hope this helps. If you have any questions, let us know in the comments section or by asking us through @wolfenstein on Twitter.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a standalone game releasing on May 5, 2015, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC for $19.99 / £14.99 / €19.99 / AUD$39.95. The Old Blood will also have a physical release in Europe on May 15, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

“…arrives digitally on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam in just two weeks…”
You mean one week right? 🙂
it does say ‘less than a week’ ….
May I know, in terms of GPU load, is TOB more intensive than TNO? Why is this the case, if they’re both on the same engine?
Thanks!
Goodness gracious! Recommended i7? 😮
Glad to see you included minimum requirements this time, however some optimization would be nice. It’s idTech5 for Christ’s sake 😀
No mod tools again? o.O
Psyched!
Out in less than a week now, yeah?
Might be my first downloadable title for Xbox One.
Also, I have to say something. I like how how you used simple graphic representation for the info on Pre-Ordering/Pre-Loading and PC Requirements. It looks really neat !
Do you envision releasing a GOTY/Bundled edition including both this and TNO?
There’s no announced plans for anything like that at this time.
Will DX10 cards be supported or has this expansion moved up the requirements to DX11 cards?
Loved last years Wolfenstein but what bothered me immensely is that Crossfire(2 cards running together) was not supported at all and i had to physically take one out of my computer to play Wolf without problems since just disabling it was giving me low FPS and stuttering, support might have been added in much later patches after i was done with the game-dont know. I really hope it is supported out of the box with the upcoming one.
Also hope you will support new(well 2 years already but still) UltraWide-21:9 monitors since LG, Dell, Acer, Samsung, AOC etc. are all selling those monitors now and i am a firm believer that it is here to replace 16:9(just like 16:9 replaced 4:3 back in the day). UltraWide aspect really pulls you into the game and makes you feel like part of the action. It is the step between 16:9(or 16:10) and full VR headset like Oculus rift. Dont lose sales because you spared 10mins and not added 21:9 support, for example the only reason i didn’t get Resident Evil Revelations2 is that they do not have 21:9 support and i refused to play on the small square in the middle of my screen.
Please add support for crossfire/SLI and 21:9 aspect for millions of players that have those configurations-dont get left behind and join the new age:).
The only problem is waiting for the 5th. Feels bad man.
