FALLOUT SHELTER ACHIEVES MASSIVE GLOBAL SUCCESS; DEBUTS AT #1 ON APP STORE
Fallout Mobile Game Quickly Tops Charts in 48 countries
June 25, 2015 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced that Fallout Shelter™ – the first-ever mobile game set in the celebrated Fallout® universe from Bethesda Game Studios® – quickly became the top downloaded game in 48 countries and the top downloaded app of any kind in 25 countries following its release.
“We play games on our phones all the time, and have always wanted to make one,” said Todd Howard, Game Director at Bethesda Game Studios. “To have our first mobile game be enjoyed by so many is stunning. It just shows that gamers appreciate more depth and being treated fairly. It also shows people love Fallout as much as we do.”
Praised for its fun, addicting gameplay, and for its player-friendly approach to in-app purchases, Fallout Shelter rapidly climbed the ranks of the highest grossing apps during its first week on the App Store. Within two days of launch the game cracked the top-grossing chart, overtaking King’s Candy Crush as the App Store’s number three top-grossing app in the United States. Fallout Shelter wasn’t just a hit stateside – it also joined the ranks of the top five top-grossing games on the App Store in 37 different countries.
Fallout Shelter remains the number 1 most downloaded free game on the App Store. In the first week following its release, play sessions of Fallout Shelter have surpassed 70 million times a day by fans globally.
Fallout Shelter is a post-nuclear strategy and simulation experience that puts you in control of a state-of-the-art underground Vault. Build the perfect Vault from a variety of rooms, oversee your very own thriving community of Vault Dwellers, and protect them from the dangers of the Wasteland. Vault-Tec has provided the tools, but the rest is up to you.
Fallout Shelter is available now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.

Any chance of an android version?
Is there a clearer date about an android release window other than a couple of months?
ANDROID???
We’re working on the Android version and are hoping to release it in the next few months. When we have more concrete information to share, we’ll definitely let everyone know.
Before or after Fallout 4 lands?
Is fallout shelter coming out for windows phone?
We definitely want Fallout Shelter on windows phone
Any chance of an Android version?
This app would be good and fun to play if it didn’t freeze every 2 minutes. I downloaded the app at the same hour is was released and deleted the same hour it was released after it freezing about 30 times. 1/10 IGN – FUCKIN FREEZES CONSTANTLY
cant even enjoy the app, its always freezing
PLEASE get an android version out there! I’m dying to play this.
Fallout Shelter is really addicting! But once I get past 20 vault dwellers it really slows down, and starts crashing nearly every time I open it. One of my vaults is completely unplayable because of crashing upon opening, and the other is getting that way. 🙁
I have an iPad 2. I was hoping maybe it would be optimized for older devices, but maybe that’s not the problem?…in any case, I really hope they keep updating it and fix a lot of the bugs, I really love it and it’ll hold me over until Fallout 4!!
Addictive, not “
addicting“.Unfortunately according to their support, the iPad2 isn’t a supported device.
I do hope they update it so older devices can run it, but apparently you need to have move than 512MB of memory.

Android Hello?
SuperMutant and Deathclaw attacks on the vault, please.
But why you did not release it in android at the same time? I can not understand why you ignore android users T_T
Looked for in the play store only to be insanely disappointed. Almost as disappointing as the inevitable timed exclusive dlc that will be coming. It would be nice if everything was on a level playing field.
Is android version coming?
Our current priority for Fallout Shelter is getting it to Android. When we have new information, we’ll let everyone know.
Any chance this is coming to Android?
lol
And yes I realize that most of the comments are time stamped at approximately the same time, but damn it’s funny reading a million comments all asking the same thing.
I have 72 dwellers and absolutely no problem running the app. It’s an iPhone 5s for those who are wondering. I love Fallout, and I love this game.
please bring this game to android
Please a clearer date on android release you are leaving alot of people in the dark and very sad.
We don’t have a final date for Android. We’re hopeful to have it out in a few months. As soon as there’s a concrete date, we’ll update everyone.
Thanks for your patience.
Ok everyone… Yes it sucks that it’s not released for Android yet, I being an android user can understand that and I was disappointed as well. But come on give them a break it’s their first mobile game. They needed help and Apple gave it to them the fact it’s on their devices first makes sense from a business standpoint due to the exclusivity of it for Apple and gave them the incentive to help. I know Pete Hines said there is no timed exclusive deal with them but there’s probably some kind of NDA they have to adhere to (assuming that it even exists). We will get it eventually and that’s what matters. Like I said before yeah it sucks they get it first but we all get Fallout 4 at the same time and isn’t that more important?
And I wonder how many of those ‘play sessions’ were from people repeatedly launching the app because it keeps crashing on older devices. Saw your little sneaky edit of putting “OH THIS ONLY WORKS ON SUCH-N-SUCH DEVICES” on the app description a long while after you launched it, by the way.
Really, Android folks, be glad you weren’t included at launch. Unless you have a top-tier phone, you won’t be playing it much.
Where can the game be found?
I frankly can’t understand why this wasn’t released either simultaneously, or for Android first, given that Android is over 80% of the mobile market share, whereas iOS is less than 15%, and the hardware requirements mean that the game quickly becomes unplayable on all but the newest iOS devices, which drops the total number of people who can play the game down to… what? Maybe 5% of the global mobile market?
Why not just release in – or port to – Unity so it plays on all devices, including consoles, Macintosh computers, et al?
For that matter, why is there no Steam version, whose DRM would have allowed you to keep the app secure while making it playable for anyone with a PC (which basically accounts for 99% of all non-console gamers)? Steam/PC users who happen to be the people you’re asking to buy F4 in November anyway? After all, it darn sure won’t be Macintosh owners playing it.
I enjoy the game as long as I can play it, but I’m now on my THIRD vault that crashes the game as soon as I even try to load it, and have no given up entirely because apparently my little iPhone 4S isn’t beefy enough to handle the code exceptions that occur when the game tries to do… I have no idea what, actually, that is causing these crashes. I can only presume it’s something to do with the game wanting to create notifications or social media interactions when I rush a room or a baby is born, etc., instead of just keeping to itself.
Well the answer is obvious when they ignore the questions about Windows Phone.
I don’t have any information relating to Windows Phones at this time. Right now the priority is bringing Fallout Shelter to Android.
There are companies like Game Troopers who help developers to bring their games to windows phone platform, I think it’s so wise to bring the game to a growing platform like windows phone.
After all I’m so confused why Bethesda which has great collaboration with Microsoft doesn’t have any plan to develop the game for their platform?
All requests to port it to the Android platform aside … when will you fix the pregnancy bug?! I paid for lunch boxes for one vault that now has SEVEN women who are now permanently pregnant and I refuse to delete the vault and start over. Time is one thing but I paid real dollars to now wipe it and start again due to a bug that should have been caught in development. Yes, I have closed the app and restarted it. Yes, I have have enough space for the offspring. Yes, I am playing it on a recommended device (latest version of iOS on the latest iPad). Yes, I am frustrated with it to the point that I am going to get a refund from Apple for the money I spent on it if it is not fixed in the next week or so.
We’re aware of reports of this issue and we’re investigating. Once we have info on updates for the game, we’ll let everyone know/
Hello i was just curious to ask how come in e3 the guy announced it will be coming out the day of his breathing for Android or google play store and iPhone / itunes but only came out on iTunes whats your guys exploitation on that y not google play store over iTunes that wasnt fair unless your making the game better for Android users and released a sample game to iTunes to see on how to improve it before releasing it then i understand if u just want to make sure the moment we download it and stsrt playing we have no problems like iTunes Verizon does i hope with thiz extra time u guys are approving the bugs u discovered now on it and not release that Verizon to Android for the long wait
Okay. Fallout shelter. Sounds cool, looks neat, and is actually pretty fun. IF. You get past all the crashing and, bugs in this game. That 70 million, probably half was people trying to relaunch it. Why couldn’t you make it compatible with like every device. iPod touch5th gen can’t run this game. If the game crashes after every, process (pregnancy, baby born, raider attack, fire, radroach infestation, room rush, sending vault dwellers outside, recalling them, opening lunchboxes, etc) how could you not catch on to that while you were making the game? Now I’m forced to buy something new just to play a game by Bethesda.
Need a Windows store version so us Surface Pro users can play.
I got lumia 830 win phone and i DEMAND this game to be released for my device!
