RAGE DLC arrives next week on PS3, 360, and PC!

Return to the Wasteland in The Scorchers, an all-new RAGE add-on from id Software – arriving on 360, PC, and PS3 next week for $4.99 (or 400 Microsoft Points).

In this brand-new adventure spanning six all-new areas, you will fight alongside new allies to defend the Hager Settlment from a maniacal bandit clan known as The Scorchers. Along the way, you’ll participate in a new season of Mutant Bash TV, encounter new mini-games, and wield the overpowering and brutal Nailgun.

In addition to the new content, this DLC includes ‘Ultra-Nightmare’, a new high difficulty mode, as well as an ‘Extended Play’ option that allows you to play past the original ending of the game – giving you the opportunity to finish collecting items and achievements.

Dunwall City Trials Available Today

Update: The North American PSN store has updated and Dunwall City Trials is now available.

We are pleased to announce Dishonored: Dunwall City Trials, the first add-on pack for the critically-acclaimed first-person action game developed by Arkane Studios, is now available for Xbox 360 and PC for $4.99, £3.99, €4.99 (or 400 Microsoft Points). For PS3, the add-on pack will be available later today in North America and on December 19th in Europe.

Updated: Congrats to Arkane and BGS for winning Best Action/Adventure Game and Best DLC, respectively, tonight at the VGAs!

Happy 15th, QUAKE II!

Today marks the 15th anniversary of QUAKE II’s release on PC. Celebrating the affair, id Software’s Tim Willits shared some fun facts about the game:

  • Only three artists made all the 2D and 3D art for the entire game.
  • One of the original suggested names for QUAKE II was WOR, but the game’s fast-paced, tactile feel felt closer to a QUAKE game than a new franchise.
  • ‘The Edge’ (Tim’s favorite deathmatch level in QUAKE II or any other game), has over 50 trick jumps possible in the map. Tim only designed two of them, and the rest were discovered by the QUAKE II community.

Later today, Tim plans to celebrate by taking these QUAKE action figures out of the display case and reenacting his favorite moments from the game. Let us know how you’ll be celebrating the game’s anniversary in the comment section below.

Put Your Skills to the Test with Dunwall City Trials

Watch the newly-released gameplay trailer for Dishonored: Dunwall City Trials, arriving on Xbox LIVE, PSN, and Steam next week!

Dunwall City Trials will include 10 challenge maps that will test and track your combat, stealth and mobility skills. Creatively combine your supernatural abilities, weapons and gadgets to eliminate as many targets as possible, fight off waves of tallboys, guards, weepers and thugs, or take out targets in a non-stop run of drop assassinations. Dunwall City Trials also features a new set of achievements and trophies as well as a global online leaderboard.

Accompanying the trailer is Dan Bull’s “Dishonored Rap” track. You can listen to the full track on his YouTube Channel.

Dragonborn’s Release

Dragonborn is our favorite Skyrim add-on to date, and with reviews making their way online, it appears the gaming press shares that sentiment. In Eurogamer’s review from Dan Whitehead, he likens the content to a full-on expansion that was just what he needed to come back to Skyrim. Here’s an excerpt:

“This isn’t DLC. This is an expansion, like in the good old days. It’s an entirely new area, a blank map waiting to be filled in as you roam, packed with new quests, miscellaneous tasks, dungeons, barrows, ruins and crypts. It’s an absolute beast, with a main storyline that lasts a good few hours and enough supporting content to keep you playing for weeks more.”

Early reviews include:

  • Attack of the Fanboy (Loved It) – Dragonborn is the best Skyrim Expansion to date because it gets back to the roots of what made Skyrim fun in the first place.
  • Xbox 360 Achievements (9/10) – “… Bethesda have created here is exactly what Skyrim fans would have been crying out for… and that’s an experience that captures the brilliance of the main game but in a much more bitesize manner.”
  • Videogamer.com (8/10) — “After completing the main quest in 11-12 hours, I still have a lot of side quests to complete, a majority of the map lies undiscovered and I haven’t even begun gathering all the new loot.”

For those that are playing the content already, we hope you’re having a blast in Solstheim. And as noted in Monday’s blog post, we’re hard at work to make this content available early next year on PS3 and PC. On PS3 in particular, we turned our attention to Dragonborn, as we thought it was the best content to release first, and we didn’t want folks to wait longer. Once it’s ready to go for everyone, we’ll continue our previous work on Hearthfire and Dawnguard for PS3. Each one takes a lot of time and attention to work well in all circumstances and all combinations of DLC. Once we have a better idea of release timing and pricing, we’ll let you know.

And we also have some more stuff planned for everyone next year as well.  We do everything we can to return the support you have given us, whether it’s The Creation Kit, Steam Workshop, game updates, or DLC. Thanks for your continued support and for sharing your adventures with us!

Dishonored 1.2 title update

Today we’ve released the first post-release title update for Dishonored. The update is up for PC, PS3, and 360 players.

BUG FIXES

  • Support for playing the game on multiple screens.
  • Game Settings are now saved and restored properly even when using Steam offline.
  • Fixes for some interactions with Granny Rags that invalidated nonlethal playthroughs under certain circumstances. (Note: These fixes work even for savegames AFTER the final Granny Rags encounter.)
  • Fix for a crash that could happen during loading/transition between areas – notably near Dr. Galvani’s house.
  • Reworked “Choke” interaction to make it more reliable in valid contexts.
  • Fixed minor localization issues (PS3/360).
  • Fixed global post-process that sometimes worked improperly during some missions.
  • Fix for a rare crash that could happen when killing a NPC with a possessed rat and spring razor (PS3/360)
