TGIF! With the weekend here, it’s a great opportunity to turn down the lights and stay up late to play part 1 of Juli Kidman’s two-part adventure — The Assignment — available through Steam, Xbox Live, and PSN.
Focusing heavily on stealth tactics, the DLC is already receiving praise from reviewers. Scoring it an 8.5/10, IGN had the following to say:
“I spent a lot of the time running blindly with my heart thumping, hoping a distracted enemy wasn’t now in pursuit, or yelling in triumph after locking one in a room. Without a weapon, the tension builds quickly.”
You can get more from IGN in a their review commentary video feature (note: there are spoilers). For more opinions, we’ll be adding reviews as they come in below.
Videogamer.com (8/10) — “…The Assignment is a reasonably-sized add-on which fleshes out The Evil Within’s story while building on what made it so enjoyable in the first place.”
We Got This Covered (4/5) – “… it was an intense burst of fear that retroactively makes The Evil Within a more complete experience while also standing on its own as an exciting step in a different direction for the series.”
Crave Online — (8/10) — “For fans of The Evil Within, The Assignment stands out as a key component to understanding its complex story. For everyone, it offers an entirely new way to enjoy the universe.”
Bloody Disgusting (8.5/10) – “The Assignment takes the best aspects of The Evil Within — namely the stealth, unsettling enemies and the strategy that’s required in combat — and successfully builds a bite-sized adventure around it that never outstays its welcome.”
Digital Chumps (8.8/10) – “I loved the strategy and intensity of playing purely stealth more than I did the combat in the original game.”
Last week Pete Hines and I had the pleasure of debuting Wolfenstein: The Old Blood — live in Boston from the Twitch.TV main stage. We had a great time showing off the content, and as you’ll see, it was a pretty good idea that I input a debug code for a little extra “health insurance.”
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood releases digitally on Tuesday, May 5th on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. For more content updates — including the debut of new concept art for weapons be sure to check out the game’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
This morning we’re excited to announce what our friends and colleagues at MachineGames are up to: an all-new standalone prequel to everyone’s favorite Nazi-blasting first-person shooter of 2014, Wolfenstein: The New Order!
Arriving digitally on May 5th for $19.99/£14.99 /€19.99/$39.95 AUS on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood takes our hero BJ Blazkowicz back to the year 1946 in an adventure that spans eight chapters and two interconnected stories (released together) that will lead into the events you know and love from The New Order.
Part one of Wolfenstein:The Old Blood – Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves — pits BJ Blazkowicz against a maniacal prison warden as he breaks into Castle Wolfenstein in an attempt to steal the coordinates to General Deathshead’s compound. In part two – The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs – our hero’s search for the coordinates leads him to the city of Wulfburg where an obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power.

For many that have completed The Evil Within, the mysteries surrounding Sebastian’s partner, Juli Kidman, are among the most discussed plotlines in the game. These questions (and new questions… hehe) will arise in Part 1 of Kidman’s DLC adventure, The Assignment.
Taking the role of Kidman, The Assignment features an increased focus on stealth gameplay mechanics as you untangle the secrets of what happened to her and untangle the truth behind her connection with Mobius. Introducing new enemies and gameplay tactics, The Assignment sets the stage for the concluding chapter of Kidman’s Adventure, The Consequence, releasing later this Spring.

QuakeCon’s BYOC has thrived for 20 years because of the personalities and culture you have brought to it. The case mods, “wooooops”, and skyscrapers built from BAWLs cans are what make the BYOC memorable. YOU KNOW IT!!!
So when it came time to figure out the design for this year’s Official shirt, we decided no one could do a better job than… you! So today we’re happy to announce the QuakeCon® 2015: 20th Anniversary Shirt Design Contest!
Between today and April 10th, you’ll be able to submit your shirt designs on our contest page. From there, our judging panel will determine five finalists and then it will be up to all of you to vote for a winner. Our contest winner will receive The Ultimate QuakeCon® Fan Pack * featuring a spot in the BYOC, QuakeCon® Done Quick access, and a Swag Pack!
It’s crazy to think, but we’re only 148 days away from QuakeCon – and this year’s a big one. We’ll be celebrating the event’s 20th anniversary, which means 1) we’re all getting old and 2) we’re planning to make this the biggest and most exciting QuakeCon ever!
For everyone planning to spend 4 days in the BYOC, the information below is important:
Attendees wishing to participate in the QuakeCon 2015 BYOC must pre-purchase one of the ‘BYOC Select-a-Seat’ packages through our online registration site to guarantee a seat. As all seats will be accounted for prior to the show, we won’t have seats available on-site or on a first-come-first serve basis. Once the packages sell out, we’ll be giving people the opportunity to win a limited number of BYOC seats via social media giveaways, contests, and via our event partners leading up to the show.
Make sense? If you were at QuakeCon 2014, it should. Our pre-registration should be familiar, with one exception: This year we’re doing five tiers instead of four, and we’re kicking it off on March 4th with our new, super, duper, uber‘BYOC Select-a-Seat withUAC Command Center VIP Seating Package’ — a very-limited package (only 32 available) that will include VIP BYOC seating in the Network Operations Center (NOC)!
To find out how you can snag a spot in the NOC, as well as full details on what each package includes, be sure to check out the info below. As the dates creep up in the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing reminders here on the blog, as well as on our official Facebook and Twitter account.
Oh yeah, and see those “Your Design Here” shirts below? Learn how you can design the 20th Anniversary QuakeCon shirt in this blog post.
Then this is your chance to join hosts Seb and Cam and star Kevin VanNord for Top 5 Skyrim Mods of the Week… Live! Taking place in London’s videogame-themed Loading Bar on March 7th, attendees can look forward to drinks and spot-prizes, but hurry as there are only an extremely limited number of tickets for sale here (note, you must be 18 or over to attend).
And if you can’t make it, take heart, because Gamespot wants you to choose Kevin VanNord’s companion for the special show. So do you think Kevin should adventure with:
Chatty, opinionated Khajiit Inigo?
The mighty force of nature that is Dovahbear?
Fiery mount and danger to stables everywhere, the Blaze of Evantide?
