October 31, 2014 (Melbourne, Australia) — Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced that the first beta tests for BATTLECRY™, the all-new online multiplayer action combat game from BattleCry Studios, will begin exclusively in Australia and New Zealand starting in early 2015. Featuring 32-player battles, BATTLECRY’s team-based combat combines visceral brutality and competitive multiplayer action to create a new gameplay experience that’s free to play.
Led by long-time industry veteran Rich Vogel (Star Wars: The Old Republic, Ultima Online), the team at BattleCry Studios is comprised of seasoned developers with decades of experience working on critically-acclaimed action and competitive multiplayer franchises. BATTLECRY is the first project for the Austin-based studio since it was formed in 2012 with one goal: to create fun, high-quality online experiences for a connected world.
In BATTLECRY, step into a bold, expressive world envisioned by Viktor Antonov (Half-Life 2, Dishonored) where gun powder has been banned following a cataclysmic world war at the dawn of the 20th century. Traditional warfare is now a relic of the past and all conflicts are settled head-on by elite teams of chosen warriors in sanctioned WarZones. This weekend BattleCry Studios descends upon Melbourne, Australia to give folks down under a first chance to play BATTLECRY. Joining the team for the long journey is the studio’s brand-new community manager, Shahin Kanafchian.
Today he’s here to introduce himself, and you can expect to hear plenty more from Shahin in the future…..
My name is Shahin Kanafchian, and I’m really excited to introduce myself as the Community Manager for BATTLECRY. As a lifelong gamer, I love engaging with players and I understand how important it is to put you at the heart of everything we do. It’s still early days, but that’s why I’m excited – it gives me the chance to work with you to build things from the ground up. So, here’s a rundown of where I think we’re at so far, and what you can expect in the future.
I’m a huge believer in transparency, and as a studio, we want to foster a real relationship with you by communicating openly and honestly. This game is for our players, and so your feedback will be incredibly important! The team and I will be doing our best to listen, communicate and collaborate with you to make it awesome. For me, nothing is more satisfying than seeing the crazy ways you’ve managed to min/max your way to victory.
Right now, you can find us on Twitter and Facebook – so expect plenty of information through those channels. You’ll also be able to find news, videos and content through our friends at Bethesda – such as their blog, forums, YouTube and Twitch channels. There may come a time when we outgrow these pages as this pre-alpha game becomes a real boy, but you’ll definitely be in the loop along the way.
I also want to bring the discussion to players wherever we can. For example, a few amazing people have already set up a BATTLECRY subreddit and we love them for it! I’ll do what I can to chip in and hang out wherever possible. Word of warning, , I’ve even been known to frequent IRC in the past. Yes… it’s that bad.
This weekend we will be in Melbourne for Bethesda’s first-ever showing at PAX Aus!

G’day everyone, we have exciting news for Bethesda fans Down Under! This year we will be participating in PAX Aus for the first time — bringing BATTLECRY, our Austin-flavored multiplayer action game from the dev team at BattleCry Studios.
Alongside being able to play the game on the show floor, members of team — Executive Producer Rich Vogel, Design Director Lucas Davis, Senior Systems Designer Mark Tucker, and Community Manager Shahin Kanafchian — will take the stage for a panel entitled ‘BATTLECRY: Welcome to the WarZone’ on Saturday, November 1st at 2 pm local time. They’ll be on stage to discuss the ins and outs of their new game and look forward to debating the world’s best BBQ. And with tech/gaming guru Rae Johnston presiding over the panel as moderator, it’s sure to be entertaining.
In addition to BATTLECRY’s presence, you won’t want to miss Pete Hines’ “storytime keynote” address opening the show. Pete, Rich Vogel, and Lucas Davis will also be sitting on other PAX Aus panels throughout the weekend. More details to come!

Easily one of the most fun weeks of the year is attending PAX Prime in Seattle. Closing out the summer meeting some of our biggest fans is always a thrill. And if you’ve ever been to Seattle, the weather in late August/early September is damn near perfect.
For Bethesda’s 7th PAX Prime, we’ve got a pretty exciting lineup — we’re showcasing The Evil Within, BATTLECRY, and The Elder Scrolls Online.
With less than two months until its October 14th release, we’re celebrating The Evil Within, Shinji Mikami’s return to survival horror, in a major way. By visiting our booth in the Washington Convention Center, you’ll have a chance to go hands-on with the game on either Xbox One or PlayStation 4. What’s more, we’ll have multiple contests during the week for a chance to win custom Xbox One consoles and a one-of-a-kind piece of memorabilia that’s sure to
charm terrify your friends and family. And don’t worry, fans at home will have a chance to win, too — more details later this week.

Also at the Bethesda PAX booth, multiplayer madness will be in full effect for both The Elder Scrolls Online and BATTLECRY. With the the former, ESO veterans (and newcomers) will have a chance to participate in tense, 3v3v3 multiplayer in Colovian Crossing — a special capture-the-flag PvP worth checking out. It’s a real treat.
All players that check out ESO will come away with something special, too — a download code for a limited edition Bristlegut Pig pet to accompany you in your Tamriel travels.

Hosted in the Bethesda Exhibit Hall at QuakeCon 2014, eight teams — some with close bonds, others created on the fly– competed for the BATTLECRY Inaugural Tournament title. In a mini-documentary featuring developers from BattleCry Studios and combatants, we follow the tournaments final four teams: Hoagies for Hunger, The Art of Warfare, Ultimo Continue, and Team Impromptu. You can guess which team we named based on their last-minute formation.
In the end, there could only be one winner. Watch the video above to find out who claimed the title. To everyone that competed and watched the tournament… thanks for being a part of history!
The game of choice? DOOM! Watch how they battle elevation sickness (and each other) as they climb a 4500 ft.
Moving from CO to TX, BattleCry Studios ventured to QuakeCon 2014 for the game’s first-ever free-play matches and competitive tournament. In addition numerous attendees playing the game, some members of the gaming press also got their first stab at post-Black Powder Treaty combat. MMORPG: How does advancement work? Is it skill-based, weapon-based, or both?
LD: As your warrior progresses through levels, you’re able to unlock your skill tree, which is used to build customized loadouts with. The skill tree will allow you to power up your weapons, but whatever you want your weapon to look like, that’s what it will look like.
