Yesterday there was quite a bit of new Fallout 3 coverage, but previews are still popping up in a few places. At GameTap, Thierry Nguyen shares the “Seven things you need to know about this post-nuclear wasteland.” Here’s a snippet:
“Watch out, for there are creatures like radscorpions and deathclaws about. Beyond those, there are quite a few supermutants–slobbering freaks that wander around and kill people for the heck of it. There’s also the supermutant behemoth, a gargantuan mutant that runs around swinging a lamp post as a club. Ghouls also make a return from previous games, but now there are three different types: ones that can still think and talk (like Harold from previous titles), feral ghouls that simply act on an instinct to kill or eat you, and “glowing ones.” The last type is heavily irradiated to the point that their presence can make you sick and heal any other ghoul nearby.”

Over at Kotaku, their Paint-An-Egg-Contest, which includes a chance to win a Vault Boy shirt signed by our developers, concludes tomorrow.
Good luck (or should I say “break an egg”?) to all that enter. After seeing the entry above, I’m hoping it takes the prize.
Wanted to make sure everyone was aware of a new community contest over at Xbox.com that involves Oblivion. With the “Best RPGs Play & Win” contest, 360 owners have a chance to win some great prizes, including a trip to this year’s Comic-Con event in San Diego. To enter, all you need to do is download the Best RPGs Gamer Picture from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
So how’s this deal with Oblivion? Well, it’s an RPG on the 360 for starters, but you can increase your odds of winning (up to four more entries) if you happen to download any of the following Oblivion DLC between March 7-11:
- Shivering Isles
- Knights of the Nine
- Spell Tomes
- The Thieves’ Den
- The Wizards’ Tower
- The Vile Lair
- Horse Armor Pack
- Mehrunes Razor
Already downloaded these? It appears you can also enter by downloading additional content from Blue Dragon, as well as the new upcoming content for Mass Effect. For more details on the contest, head here.
Can you guess which Bethesda Softworks game this clip came from? Reply in the comments with your answer. Extra 1,000,000 bonus points if you can describe exactly what it is. We’ll post the answer in a later post.

Before we ring in the New Year, I thought we’d pick one more winner for our holiday t-shirt giveaway. This one comes from Ramon Alvarez. With his submission, he gave a short description of the image, so I’ll let Ramon take it from here:
This piece may require a bit of an explanation my my behalf. As you can see Santa is delivering the G.E.C.K (Garden of Eden Creation Kit) from Fallout 2 to this poor fellow but his time has passed on. Santa is wearing a special suit to fight back the radiation, almost everything in the room is burned or destroyed except for a small silhouette where a man was standing which is at the right of the picture. The silhouette is the Bad Karma perk that you can get in all the Fallout games (though maybe not Fallout 3…thats up to you guys).
If this image doesn’t sum up the holidays, I don’t know what does. Congrats on winning one of our new Vault Boy shirts!
Today’s winner of a Vault Boy t-shirt comes from Devin Clark, who came up with this clever ad for a Stimpak. Ouch…personally I’d rather have a lump of coal then need to use that. Still, we dig the creativity…you earned the shirt!
If you like what you see of Devin’s work, be sure to check out his website…cool stuff!
A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned that we would be giving away our new Vault Boy shirts to folks that came up with creative Fallout/Holiday “stuff.” We’ve received quite a few entries, and we’ll continue to accept them through the end of the year. That said, we thought we’d start sharing some of the winners.
The first winner (and actually, the first entry we received) is from Andy Barnes, who sent this post-apocalyptic gingerbread house and giant-sized Vault Boy.
Congrats to Andy.
If you live across the pond from us, you know that Oblivion GOTY is arriving soon in Europe for the PS3 (if you don’t have it already). Just to refresh your memory, Oblivion Game of the Year features Oblivion, Knights of the Nine, and the Shivering Isles expansion — all on one Blu Ray disc.
To celebrate the occasion, Eurogamer has teamed up with Ubisoft (our publishing partner in Europe) for a contest to win a 40 GB PS3 and a copy of the game. Looks like they’ll also be giving four additional copies of GOTY for the runners-up as well. To enter, register on their site and then answer the following question:
“If all the people in the world camped out in your back garden would you write and tell the king or grab a tent and join them?”
