The downloadable content for Fallout 3 may have earned you a few digital trophies, but now it’s earning the team that made it some real metal. That’s Todd up there above, graciously accepting Machinima.com’s Inside Gaming Award for Bethesda’s post-release support of the game.
G4’s X-Play also saw fit to bestow its award for “Best DLC” to Fallout 3’s Broken Steel add-on, specifically. Check out the full presentation here.
As the end of the decade draws near, more sites are rolling out their “Game of the Decade” selections. The Guardian is the latest; Morrowind and Oblivion made the top 30, while Fallout 3 cracked the top 10.
Looking ahead to 2010, MSN UK reminds you that Brink is one of the games to look out for, saying: “If immediately accessible and flowing movement weren’t enough of a draw, Brink uses state-of-the-art graphics and physics.”
On a ridiculous note, Bethesda environment artist Megan Sawyer passed along this video of someone controlling their Christmas lights with a Guitar Hero peripheral. What?
G4 has announced the nominations for its “Best of 2009″ awards, and the Fallout 3 add-ons Point Lookout and Broken Steel both made the “Best DLC” category.

Before heading out for vacation, I thought I’d squeeze in another “around the web.”
We’ll begin with news on Brink. Splash Damage Senior Game Designer Ed Stern recently discussed Brink in a new interview at Rock, Paper, Shotgun. Here’s a snippet…
RPS: The game is quite bright and exaggerated, however. Colourful, even. It’s going against a trend for photorealism, isn’t it?
Stern: I think we’ll see more of this stuff. Look at TF2 or Borderlands, they have unrealistic characters too. And look at all three next to each other, take a screenshot from each of them and none of them look alike.
In Fallout news, there’s new DLC reviews up. Here’s a snippet from a new review for Point Lookout at GamingBolt…
“With Point Lookout, Bethesda has given a near-perfect reminder of why we love Fallout 3 so much. This game is simply a joy to play. A dirty, morally questionable joy â€“ but a joy nonetheless. If you’re looking for a chance to jump back into the world of Fallout 3, Point Lookout is a great place to start.”
Today Spike TV announced the nominees for the Video Game Awards 2009 (better known as the VGAs). Among this year’s nominees, Fallout 3 received two nominations in the Best DLC category — for both Point Lookout and Broken Steel. Additionally, Eliza Dushku was nominated in the Best Performance by a Female Lead category for her role as Rubi Malone in WET.

This week we’ve got a trio of Splash Damage developers answering questions about Brink. Over the last three days, Xbox 360 Achievements has been updating their site with new segments featuring Creative Director Richard Ham. Click the links for interviews one, two, and three. Be on the lookout for the final video tomorrow (I hear it’s a doozy).
Richard isn’t the only answering questions. Edge has a two-part interview with Senior Game Designer Ed Stern. Head to these links (part 1, part 2). As the intro indicates, you can expect more coverage on Brink in the upcoming issue of Edge – due out on October 27th.
Meanwhile, Hooked Gamers hooked up with Paul Wedgwood for more details on the game. Here’s a great answer to one of the questions I hear most often about the game:
Hooked Gamers: It is possible to join any running game, turning a single player game into a multiplayer game. How does this work? How do people find each other when they are already playing? Is it possible to join a running game on either side of the conflict?
Paul Wedgwood: Yes – I’ll explain. In Brink you take on a combat role that suits your playing style, and then fight through different environments to complete big objectives as part of a coordinated squad. When you first start playing offline, you’ll play alongside an AI squad. When you see a friend come online, you can invite them in (up to seven of them), and they’ll join your game, replacing your AI squad mates.
