It’s Morning Star 1st — Happy New Year to all! Writing in from the home front, here’s some things to know from around the web.
At Coub — a site dedicated to creating video shorts — they’re kicking off the new year with a competition giving tribute to Skyrim’s Dragon Shouts. By submitting your #fusrodah clip, you’ll have a chance to win a Skyrim print, a Jeremy Soule-signed soundtrack, and a copy of Skyrim Legendary Edition signed by Todd Howard. With a new year ahead of us, many gaming sites are taking one last opportunity to reflect back on some of their favorite moments in gaming from 2014. Back in May, Polygon heralded Wolfenstein: The New Order as one of the best shooters of the year — scoring it as a 9/10. Months later, they’ve also decided it’s one of the very best games of the year — ranking it as the #2 game of the year! Here’s a snippet from reviewer Arthur Gies:
“But it’s the people in it and their stories that hold everything together and setWolfenstein: The New Order above so many of its action contemporaries, that place it above so many story-based games in general. It’s the stories within that make it one of the best games of the year.”
