Okay, not really. But I saw on Planet Elderscrolls a new mod for Oblivion that makes all alchemy ingredients (other than rat poison) weightless. So if you’re finding yourself a little overencumbered, give this mod a try. With that smile from Mr. Hawking, how can you say no?
Last week, Oblivion fan Bradley Chick e-mailed me to let me know about Oblivion-related comics he creates on his site, Septim’s Pride. Using characters and screens from within the game, he creates short comics. It’s kind of like to doing Red vs. Blue, yet in comic format.
His most recent post is soon to be a favorite around our office…thanks for the props!

Over the last few weeks, Christian of CCRE over on Planet Elder Scrolls has been working on this cool Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time-inspired mod for Oblivion. From the look of the screenshots, I think he pretty much nailed the look of the Master Sword and Hylian Shield from the game (a game that nearly cost me a failing grade my freshman year of college).
So now that we have The Ocarina Oblivion of Time. Does make me want to play some Zelda, or maybe just practice my Ocarina playing like this guy.
Got an e-mail from Brian G. from heartland of America (Des Moines, where I lived until I was 10) about how he regularly posted updates regarding his experiences playing Oblivion. I’m sure others have done this, but they Brian e-mailed me first!. I like the fact while it’s a pretty long thread, his exploits in Oblivion are all right there on one page. His updates started when he got the game on March, 22 2006 through April 18, 2007 when he wrapped up the main quest.
He didn’t post everyday, because like other fans, things always come up, such as when he posted:
“There will be no Oblivion update for tonight…or tomorrow night. the wife took the game with her to her parents’ place for the next two days so i would do homework and laundry.”
Stinky clothes and bad grades can be bad news, but you should have known to have a second copy of the game. Anyhow, thanks for sharing, Brian. Now that you’ve had an extended break from the game, you should give The Shivering Isles a chance.

Over the weekend, I saw several places that hinted at this, so without further ado, it’s official…The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition is coming to Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
On top of being able to play the heralded Oblivion, 360 fans not using Xbox Live will now have the opportunity to play Knights of the Nine and The Shivering Isles for the first time. TES IV: OGotYE (I’m sure this is what the kids will call it) also allows gamers to experience the insanity of The Shivering Isles on the PS3.

Gamer’s Hell has uploaded Qarl’s Texture Map III for an improved visual appearance within the game. The mod adds new textures and maps that aim to make Oblivion “more photorealistic, while at the same time still very close to the original feel of Bethesda’s intentions.”

Upon hearing that folks were having a few issues with the latest version of the CS (v. 1.2.404), we’ve uploaded the original one back onto the site here. This version of the CS will allow for creating mods that can be run on unpatched versions of Oblivion or to create lip synch files for voiced dialogue.
When I spoke with Todd, he suggested that modders looking to do lip synch work should use version 1.0 because the middleware we use for generating lipsync data is not compatible with the new features we added to version 1.2, despite us trying to make it work.
Actually, this is quite interesting. Yesterday on The Elder Scrolls Source, a new mod by Tyler Cobb went up that makes being vampire in Oblivion more “in line with traditional vampire lore while maintaining all the original features that came with Oblivion.”

Over on Planet Elder Scrolls, which has tons of cool mods, I came across one this morning that I found particularly interesting. Looks like your hero will now have the ability to use the Force Push technique that the Star Wars prequels decided to overuse.
Only bad news is that Liam Neeson didn’t agree to add some Qui Gonn dialogue for the game. Anyhow, check out the mod here.
