Tomorrow morning, we’ll be off to Seattle to prepare for one of our favorite events of the year, PAX Prime! This year marks our fifth year at the event, and as always, we’ve got some great stuff in store.
Those with passes to the show (the event is already sold out) will want to visit our booth to play both Dishonored and DOOM 3 BFG Edition. While you’re there, make sure to pick up some cool Bethesda swag. Our booth is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 AM – 6 PM.
We’re also hosting a Dishonored community event on both Friday and Saturday evening in conjunction with the guys from iam8bit that you won’t want to miss. Both nights we’ll be at the Stimson-Green Mansion — just minutes away from the convention center from 7.30pm-11.30pm. We’ll be serving food and drinks, giving away prizes, and more. You’ll also have your first chance to play Dishonored’s Boyle Party mission, which PC Gamer’s Tom Francis recently declared, “… one of the best missions I’ve played in any game.”
Interested in attending? Look for folks handing out invitations – both at our booth and outside the convention center. You’ll need one to get in. And on both nights, the event is first-come, first-serve.
Welcome to day 2 of PAX Prime. Our booth is already a madhouse with thousands checking out RAGE, Prey 2, and Skyrim.
Today at 3:30, Todd Howard will treat attendees to a special demo of Skyrim in the Unicorn Theater. You’ll definitely want to line up early, as two lucky attendees will win one of these custom Xbox 360s. We teamed up with Microsoft to create a handful of limited edition consoles for fans. Between now and 11.11.11, we’ll share details on other ways to win. Even if you don’t win the Xbox 360, you’ll still get a plush Dragonborn helmet.
For fans with a dragon-sized appetite, don’t forget to check out our Skyrim food truck from 11:30-3:00 pm on 9th & Pine — just one block from the convention center. We’ll be serving Dragon Legs, Whiterun Corn, and Solitude Sweetrolls — all for free!
With PAX Prime 2011 kicking off on Friday, we wanted to share details on what we’re planning.
At our booth (#1314), you won’t want to miss your chance to play RAGE, as well as presentations of Prey 2 at the top of every hour. On top of that, fans will be able to play Skyrim for the first time!
But wait, there’s more! At 3:30 pm on Saturday, Todd Howard will be giving a special presentation of the game in the Unicorn theater. Seating is expected to be limited, so you will definitely want to line up early. As a bonus, everyone that attends the demo will receive a ticket which can be redeemed at our booth for a Skyrim plush helmet — just like the one being modeled by our lovely 2008 PAX statue, Burnadette.
If you’re not able to get the helmet at the presentation, you can also visit our Skyrim food truck to grab one. Located at 9th & Pine (across from the Paramount Theater) from 11:30 to 3:00 pm Saturday, the truck will feature the following foods fit for a Nord:
After last weekend’s Eurogamer Expo in London, there’s a ton of new coverage on Hunted, RAGE, Fallout: New Vegas, and Brink. With this roundup, we’ll cover the event’s home team, Splash Damage, and all the latest details on Brink.
We actually begin with news not from the Eurogamer Expo, but from the Penny Arcade Expo. Last week, GameTrailers put up a new walkthrough video they captured while in Seattle. Check out new footage from Container City above — featuring play-by-play commentary from Creative Director Richard Ham (and gameplay awesomeness from Media Director Richard Jolly).
For hands-on impressions from the Eurogamer Expo, check out the following sites…
ConsoleMonster was victorious in their Day 1 session at the show and declared the game “Steal of the Show”
We’ve also got a number of interviews to share. With the video interviews, there’s a fair amount of background noise, but if you put some headphones on, you should be good to go. Hit up the links below.
The Koalition gets Ed “Bongo Boy” Stern on camera for an interview.
Today we have a look back at recent news coverage for Brink — both at PAX and GamesCom. Having attended the former myself, I can tell you the queue for the game was insane… with waits between two and four hours. Still, everyone I spoke to said it was worth the wait.
Apparently Machinima’s Inside Gaming crew thought so, too. This past week they declared the game best shooter of PAX (aka the Boom Headshot Award).
Meanwhile, Machinima Respawn interviewed Creative Director Richard Ham at the show. We’ve got the video embed and plenty more after the break.
In-between attending to demos and presentations, we did our best to capture the craziness that is PAX Prime. Costumes, co-stars and completely packed queues marked an altogether fun, successful show for us. Behold our photographic history.
In addition to the new gameplay footage at Machinima, which Nick shared earlier in the week, there’s been plenty of great news and coverage for Hunted coming out of PAX and GamesCom. Here’s a quick look at some of the highlights.
“Graphically, Hunted is very pretty looking, and the gameplay, at least for ranged combat, feels highly polished already. The only minor gripe so far is that steering characters left and right, especially when running, is a bit stiff. Otherwise, this is looking like it could be a surprise hit in 2011 and is a game I am definitely excited about.”
In a few short hours, day one of PAX begins. Before I head over to the Washington State Convention Center, I thought I’d share a few snaps from our booth (and the above shot with an amazing view of the Seattle skyline).
If you’re coming to the show, be sure to head to our booth and say hello.
If you’re heading to Seattle next week for PAX, be sure to check out our presentation for Hunted: The Demon’s Forge. Details below…
A Live Demonstration of HUNTED: THE DEMON’S FORGE
Come check out Bethesda Softworks’ and inXile Entertainment’s live demonstration of the exciting new action game, Hunted: The Demon’s Forge™! Powered by the Unreal 3 engine, Hunted is a fresh take on the classic fantasy game that delivers the intensity and action of a modern-day shooter. Descend into a dark world for an unforgettable cooperative experience as you and your partner face down wave after wave of vicious enemies. Taking control of either E’lara, a ranged weapon expert, or Caddoc, a master swordsman, you must use a variety of weapons, powerful spells, and cover tactics to battle your way through menacing dungeons, overgrown ruins, and downtrodden towns. This path will lead you deep within the world of Kala Moor…and to the secrets of The Demon’s Forge. Q&A session to follow the demonstration.
The Hunted presentation will take place in the Unicorn Theatre at the Washington State Convention Center on Friday, September 3rd, from 1:30-2:30 PM.
In addition to Hunted, developers from id Software will be presenting RAGE at the show. Details on the presentation, as well as what’s at our booth, can be found in our latest community newsletter, In The ‘Works.
