PAX 2011: Skyrim presentation attendees could win this Xbox 360

Welcome to day 2 of PAX Prime. Our booth is already a madhouse with thousands checking out RAGE, Prey 2, and Skyrim.

Today at 3:30, Todd Howard will treat attendees to a special demo of Skyrim in the Unicorn Theater. You’ll definitely want to line up early, as two lucky attendees will win one of these custom Xbox 360s. We teamed up with Microsoft to create a handful of limited edition consoles for fans. Between now and 11.11.11, we’ll share details on other ways to win. Even if you don’t win the Xbox 360, you’ll still get a plush Dragonborn helmet.

For fans with a dragon-sized appetite, don’t forget to check out our Skyrim food truck from 11:30-3:00 pm on 9th & Pine — just one block from the convention center. We’ll be serving Dragon Legs, Whiterun Corn, and Solitude Sweetrolls — all for free!

PAX Prime Plans!

With PAX Prime 2011 kicking off on Friday, we wanted to share details on what we’re planning.

At our booth (#1314), you won’t want to miss your chance to play RAGE, as well as presentations of Prey 2 at the top of every hour. On top of that, fans will be able to play Skyrim for the first time!

But wait, there’s more! At 3:30 pm on Saturday, Todd Howard will be giving a special presentation of the game in the Unicorn theater. Seating is expected to be limited, so you will definitely want to line up early. As a bonus, everyone that attends the demo will receive a ticket which can be redeemed at our booth for a Skyrim plush helmet — just like the one being modeled by our lovely 2008 PAX statue, Burnadette.

If you’re not able to get the helmet at the presentation, you can also visit our Skyrim food truck to grab one. Located at 9th & Pine (across from the Paramount Theater) from 11:30 to 3:00 pm Saturday, the truck will feature the following foods fit for a Nord:

Brink Roundup

After last weekend’s Eurogamer Expo in London, there’s a ton of new coverage on Hunted, RAGE, Fallout: New Vegas, and Brink. With this roundup, we’ll cover the event’s home team, Splash Damage, and all the latest details on Brink.

We actually begin with news not from the Eurogamer Expo, but from the Penny Arcade Expo. Last week, GameTrailers put up a new walkthrough video they captured while in Seattle. Check out new footage from Container City above — featuring play-by-play commentary from Creative Director Richard Ham (and gameplay awesomeness from Media Director Richard Jolly).

For hands-on impressions from the Eurogamer Expo, check out the following sites…

We’ve also got a number of interviews to share. With the video interviews, there’s a fair amount of background noise, but if you put some headphones on, you should be good to go. Hit up the links below.

Interviews

In other Brink news, Kotaku has a feature entitled “Meet the Pixar of Video Games.” It’s a feature on Blur Studios — the guys that created the official trailer for Brink (and many other memorable trailers).

That’s all for now. We’ll get updates for RAGE, New Vegas, and Hunted soon.

Brink roundup from PAX and beyond…

Today we have a look back at recent news coverage for Brink — both at PAX and GamesCom. Having attended the former myself, I can tell you the queue for the game was insane… with waits between two and four hours. Still, everyone I spoke to said it was worth the wait.

Apparently Machinima’s Inside Gaming crew thought so, too. This past week they declared the game best shooter of PAX (aka the Boom Headshot Award).

Meanwhile, Machinima Respawn interviewed Creative Director Richard Ham at the show. We’ve got the video embed and plenty more after the break.

Our Pics from PAX 2010

In-between attending to demos and presentations, we did our best to capture the craziness that is PAX Prime. Costumes, co-stars and completely packed queues marked an altogether fun, successful show for us. Behold our photographic history.

From PAX and Beyond: Hunted roundup

In addition to the new gameplay footage at Machinima, which Nick shared earlier in the week, there’s been plenty of great news and coverage for Hunted coming out of PAX and GamesCom. Here’s a quick look at some of the highlights.

Today on Destructoid, the game was announced as one of their Best of Show picks at PAX. Wanna know how it made the list? Read Jim Sterling’s hands-on impressions from the show. Here’s an excerpt…

“Graphically, Hunted is very pretty looking, and the gameplay, at least for ranged combat, feels highly polished already. The only minor gripe so far is that steering characters left and right, especially when running, is a bit stiff. Otherwise, this is looking like it could be a surprise hit in 2011 and is a game I am definitely excited about.”

If you’re heading to Seattle next week for PAX, be sure to check out our presentation for Hunted: The Demon’s Forge. Details below…

A Live Demonstration of HUNTED: THE DEMON’S FORGE

Come check out Bethesda Softworks’ and inXile Entertainment’s live demonstration of the exciting new action game, Hunted: The Demon’s Forge™! Powered by the Unreal 3 engine, Hunted is a fresh take on the classic fantasy game that delivers the intensity and action of a modern-day shooter. Descend into a dark world for an unforgettable cooperative experience as you and your partner face down wave after wave of vicious enemies.  Taking control of either E’lara, a ranged weapon expert, or Caddoc, a master swordsman, you must use a variety of weapons, powerful spells, and cover tactics to battle your way through menacing dungeons, overgrown ruins, and downtrodden towns. This path will lead you deep within the world of Kala Moor…and to the secrets of The Demon’s Forge.  Q&A session to follow the demonstration.

The Hunted presentation will take place in the Unicorn Theatre at the Washington State Convention Center on Friday, September 3rd, from 1:30-2:30 PM.

In addition to Hunted, developers from id Software will be presenting RAGE at the show. Details on the presentation, as well as what’s at our booth, can be found in our latest community newsletter, In The ‘Works.

Around the web: More reviews for WET

500x_uk-harbour_copy.jpg

In this “Around the web,” we look at some the latest reviews for WET, plus coverage for Brink, id Software, and even a look back at Daggerfall.

With WET reviews, we begin at Planet Xbox 360, where Tony DaSilva reviewed the game. Here’s a snippet of his review, where he scored the game an 8.5/10:

“With 12 chapters in its campaign, WET offers up a solid play through with consistent action. As for the story, it’s outlandish, but purposely so. Like I said, we’re in a B movie here, and we all know how ridiculous B movies are.”

Elsewhere, Canada’s own GameFocus awarded WET their Editor’s Choice award saying, “Rubi and WET totally rock.”

More WET reviews and more after the break.
