Updated Wolfenstein Pre-Order FAQ w/ DOOM Beta

Since announcing DOOM Beta pre-order incentive for Wolfenstein: The New Order, we’ve received plenty of questions on how the beta and redemption process will work. This week we have updated the Beta FAQ with new information.

We hope this answers many of your questions. And no, we’re not ready to talk about specifics on DOOM itself.

DOOM BETA FAQ – This information is subject to change without notice. Please check back for updates.

I’VE JUST PRE-ORDERED WOLFENSTEIN, WHERE’S MY DOOM BETA KEY?
A key code will be located on an insert that’s included inside your boxed copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order when it releases on May 20th. Once the key code is redeemed, you’ll be registered to participate in the DOOM beta once it begins. Check back at wolfenstein.com/doom for updated information.

DO I NEED TO SPECIFY WHAT PLATFORM I WANT TO PLAY THE DOOM BETA?
No. DOOM beta access correlates to your pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order platform. If you purchase an Xbox 360 or Xbox One version of Wolfenstein: The New Order, you will receive an invitation to the Xbox One DOOM beta. PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 purchasers will receive an invite to the PS4 DOOM beta. All PC purchases will receive an invite to the PC DOOM beta. The DOOM beta will only be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

IF I PRE-ORDER THE GAME DIGITALLY, WILL I STILL GET ACCESS TO THE DOOM BETA?
We are working with Steam, Microsoft, and Sony to help ensure that persons pre-ordering digitally from Steam, Microsoft, and Sony will receive access to the DOOM beta. Other digital retailers’ processes and/or participation may vary. We suggest contacting your preferred retailer directly for additional information.

Get Psyched: Wolfenstein release date; First details on DOOM beta

The FPS legend that started it all returns this May! Today we’re excited to announce that Wolfenstein: The New Order will release on Tuesday, May 20th in North America and throughout Europe on Friday, May 23rd. And as a bonus to everyone that pre-orders, we will be letting you into the beta for the next DOOM game!

Wolfenstein marks the first Bethesda-published game to arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will also be available on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Developed by MachineGames, a studio comprised of a seasoned group of developers recognized for their work creating story-driven games, Wolfenstein: The New Order is a reimagining of the FPS franchise from id Software. The game offers a deep game narrative packed with action, adventure and first-person combat rendered in stunning detail with id® Software’s id Tech® 5 engine. And typical of a classic Wolfenstein game, expect plenty of hidden secrets, too.

Wolfenstein: The New Order once again centers around the series’ iconic war hero, B.J. Blazkowicz and this time faces alternate version of the 1960s in which the Nazis won World War II. As the only man capable of rewriting history, with the help of a small group of resistance fighters, infiltrate their most heavily guarded facilities, battle high-tech Nazi legions, and take control of super-weapons that have conquered the earth – and beyond. See the game in action on our official YouTube channel.

ESO ‘Ask Us Anything’: Variety Pack 12

The latest ESO ‘Ask Us Anything’  answers a variety of new questions on the game — including various questions stemming from our Imperial Edition announce. Here’s a sampling:

Do people who order the Imperial Edition gain a big gameplay advantage over those who don’t?

No. With the Imperial Edition you get the opportunity to play as a rogue Imperial who has broken from their Daedra worshipping ways, and you get a unique racial skill line of equal gameplay impact to other races’ unique racial skill lines. As an Imperial you also get a mount and the automatic ability to craft items into the Imperial style. All non-Imperial races can also learn this ability after locating the corresponding racial motif. Imperials do not begin the game in a unique starting location or via a separate quest, but they can start in any alliance as befits their status as un-aligned outcasts of their own Province. Being an Imperial includes a racial skill line that offers unique gameplay opportunities, but there is not an overall gameplay advantage. It is an opportunity to set yourself visually apart in the lands of Tamriel.

Gameplay benefits within this edition have been designed to avoid bestowing unfair advantages over players who do not purchase this special edition. This is cool content designed for some of our biggest fans who wish to have something different from other collector’s editions in the market. The only other alternative would have been to offer a collector’s edition that offers no in-game items whatsoever. That simply didn’t seem fair to fans who are excited about the game and want some special digital items.
