We’re back with another “Around the Web” with plenty of good stuff to check out.

This morning on Kotaku, I spotted this awesome Fallout 3 fan art bey Deviant Artist Patrick Brown. Looks like I’ve got a new desktop background. You can find more of Patrick’s work here. And if you’ve got artwork to contribute to the blog, send it in…we’ll be putting up new entries soon.

In other Fallout community news, we got an email letting us know about a song titled “Vault 101″ by Kirby Krackle. Head to their website to give it a listen (lyrics can be found here).

Moving to Brink news, IncGamers has a new online interview with Splash Damage’s Paul Wedgwood, Richard Ham, and Ed Stern. The interview covers the gamut: Splash Damage’s roots, their staff, and their plans and goals for Brink. Props to IncGamers for their clever edits.

Neilie Johnson of GameShark has posted her impressions of Hunted: The Demon’s Forge. Head here to read the full preview, but first, here’s a snippet discussing some of the attacks you’ll have at your disposal:

“During the demo we were shown spells ‘Hellfire’, which shot a big ol’ fireball, and ‘Levitate’, which rendered enemies helpless by lifting them off the ground. We were also shown a co-operative mechanic called ‘Battlecharge’, in which one character charged up another with spells, giving both of them more power.”

Finally, at this year’s MI6 awards for marketing, our promotional video for WET, “Shot at Love”, won a Silver award. Congrats to the marketing teams here at Bethesda and Ayzenberg for their work.

Around the Web: Hunted interviews edition (Updated)

No joke, we’ve got plenty of new coverage to share — including a number of new interviews on Hunted: The Demon’s Forge.

We’ll start at Gamerzines. They have a two part interview (1, 2) with Brian Fargo that’s worth checking out. You can also read their preview on the game by downloading PS3Zine #37.

You can find more Brian Fargo interviews at X360 Achievements and GameReactor. Additionally, new previews for the game are up at Atomic Gamer and Gaming Angels. Here’s an excerpt from the former:

“For a game that’s coming near the end of this year, Hunted already looks very polished, with great animations, solid fighting situations, and interesting tactics as the two fighters take advantage of their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.”

Around the Web: More Brink previews

Coverage of the recent Brink blast is still coming in, with OXM UK, Britxbox and Games.on all publishing previews of the Splash Damage shooter.

If you’re still not sure what to make of this Brink game, don’t forget to check out the bevy of new gameplay videos. G4′s Adam Sessler was “pleasantly surprised” after viewing them, reporting: “It wasn’t until we received the videos that I fully appreciated how ambitious [Brink] is with campaign-based multiplayer.”

Sarcastic Gamer took a look at the art of the Ark, highlighting Brink concepts in the first SG Artview. The site is also collecting questions that it plans to pose to Brink developers, so head over to the SG forums to suggest a few.

In listy news, the Fallout 3 DLC expansions have been nominated for Machinima.com’s Inside Gaming Awards 2009. Speaking to that content, Telegraph named Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition as one of the top 10 time-stealing games of 2009. Platform Nation also included Brink in its list of “10 Original IPs for 2010.”

Lastly, GameSpot spoke to Fallout 3 lead designer Emil Pagliarulo for its examination of moral quandaries in video games. Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

“I think players simply get tired of experiencing the same things over and over and over in games. Frankly, it gets boring. When morality’s involved, the simple act of shooting a bad guy isn’t so simple anymore.”

Time for another web update…

This week 1Up has a new roundtable discussion near and dear to Bethesda Game Studios — it’s a discussion on The Future of Single-Player RPGs. The roundtable includes Bill Roper (Cryptic Studios), Alan Miranda (Ossian Studios), Marcin Iwinski (CD Projeckt) and Feargus Urquhart, the CEO of Obsidian Entertainment (the guys working on Fallout: New Vegas). The feature has several references to Fallout 3 and can be read here.

Brink Roundup

As mentioned last week, Eurogamer Expo 2009 is currently taking place. The Leeds portion of the expo has concluded — with Paul Wedgwood showing the game to large crowds on both days.

Out of the Leeds show, there’s some new coverage to share. First, in a new preview at Eurogamer, Paul assured everyone that the PC version of the game will have dedicated servers. For more on their coverage of the game, read here. Elsewhere, you can find impressions of the game from folks that attended the expo at both SavyGamer and PS3Center.net. You can also find a new preview for the game at NowGamer.

The Eurogamer Expo moves to London this Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately, tickets for the expo are already sold out, but we’ll keep you updated on any news that comes out of the show.

On the print side of things, Losi shared with me the latest cover story for Brink at VietGame. For many of you, getting your hands on a copy of the magazine might be difficult, so I’ve posted the cover below. If you do have a chance to check it out, there’s six pages of coverage, plus an interview with Creative Director Richard Ham.

In other print news, the latest issue of EDGE hit newsstands this week. Be on the lookout, as it features eight pages of new impressions on the game.

Finally, German fansite BrinkGamers has reached 1.0 status. You can check out the site here (looks nice!)– and if you’re interested in doing a fan site of your own, download our fansite kit at the official site for Brink.

In this “Around the web,” we look at some the latest reviews for WET, plus coverage for Brink, id Software, and even a look back at Daggerfall.

With WET reviews, we begin at Planet Xbox 360, where Tony DaSilva reviewed the game. Here’s a snippet of his review, where he scored the game an 8.5/10:

“With 12 chapters in its campaign, WET offers up a solid play through with consistent action. As for the story, it’s outlandish, but purposely so. Like I said, we’re in a B movie here, and we all know how ridiculous B movies are.”

Elsewhere, Canada’s own GameFocus awarded WET their Editor’s Choice award saying, “Rubi and WET totally rock.”

Brink Roundup: More from PAX 09 (Updated)

It’s only been about a week since our last blog post on Brink, but there’s already plenty of new coverage — courtesy of the game’s appearance at GamesCom and PAX.

We begin with Giant Bomb — watch Brad Shoemaker’s interview with Game Director Paul Wedgwood above.

WET Roundup: Eve of Release Edition

We’re just a few hours from the North American release of WET, so this is my last chance to share some previews. For good measure, I’ll throw in a couple interviews, too.

Last week Mark Walton of Gamespot UK went hands-on with Rubi’s Boneyard — Rubi’s home in the game, which has plenty challenges of its own. Here’s a snippet:

“The Boneyard is a desolate place, full of broken-down planes and run-down vehicles smack bang in the middle of the desert, more than slightly reminiscent of the aircraft graveyards featured in films like Con Air. Yet this is Rubi’s home, and like any good action hero, her home is stocked full of guns and platforms to keep her amused–but make no mistake, this is no Croft Manor. The Boneyard level will be accessible at any point in the game, and you will be able to use it as a training ground for new skills picked up during the single-player campaign. You can also participate in time trials and challenges.”

Moving to interviews, Go! Gaming Giant caught up with Creative Director Patrick Fortier for their latest podcast. Download it here. Meanwhile, Gamer Limit interviewed Senior Games Producer Avi Winkler. Here’s an excerpt:

So we know WET‘s all about stylish action coupled with a Tarantino-esque narrative; how significant is the story told in the game? Do you think games have the ability to tell memorable tales just as well as other mediums such as films?

AW:I think story is important in giving context to the situations in the game.  It’s more fun taking on enemies and working your way through levels if you understand why your protagonist is there and if you’re given a lot of flavour to your bad guys.  I think that’s something we do quite well in WET.

PAX ’09: Brink Roundup
