We’re pleased to announce that QuakeCon 2012, the ultimate video game festival, will kick off on Thursday, August 2nd with an annual keynote address given by John Carmack.
In addition to John’s keynote, this year’s QuakeCon will host a number of panel discussions featuring prominent members of the interactive entertainment industry. Attendees will be able to check out panels such as The Game of Making Games, Designing Multiplayer Games That Last, GameTrailers ‘Bonus Round’, and Idle Thumbs Podcast Live: Arena. Panelists will include Marty Stratton from id Software, Ted Price, President and CEO of Insomniac Games, Chet Faliszek and Tom Leonard from Valve Software, and Geoff Keighley, host of Spike’s GameTrailers.
The full line-up of panels and guest speakers will be announced in the coming days.
During the event, attendees will also have the opportunity to play Dishonored, the supernatural assassin action game under development at Arkane Studios, and DOOM 3 BFG Edition, the full collection of genre-defining games from id Software, in Bethesda’s booth in the Exhibit Hall.

July 13, 2012 (Rockville, MD) – The world’s most competitive QUAKE LIVE® players will come together to go head-to-head at QuakeCon® 2012, being held August 2-5 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas. Vying for their share of over $30,000 in prize money, top professionals will compete in the QUAKE LIVE Duel Invitational Masters Championship as well as the Intel-sponsored QUAKE LIVE Capture the Flag Open, QUAKE LIVE Amateur Duel and QUAKE LIVE Random Draw Free For All tournaments.
QuakeCon, which is free and open to the public, brings together some of the the greatest players in the world to participate in highly-competitive tournaments. Matches will also be broadcast live each day of the competitions on large screens with play-by-play commentary from this year’s shoutcasters who will be unveiling the excitement, energy, and behind-the-scenes chaos that unfolds, with live match coverage, player interviews and expert analysis.

While general admission to QuakeCon remains FREE for all attendees, when pre-registration opens we will be offering premium packages. These premium packages are limited and will be available on a first-come first-serve basis.
QuakeCon, North America’s largest BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN party, returns to the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, TX on August 2-5. Those interested in attending can reserve special room rates at the hotel by calling 1-800- Hiltons and ask for the QuakeCon 2012 rate ($154 per night).
