PAX East was awesome! In the slideshow above, check out some of our weekend highlights — including our booth, The Elder Scrolls Food Truck, and our special community event: The 347th Annual Tamriel Beer Garden.
To everyone that came, thanks for making this year’s PAX East so memorable.
Gaming press from around the globe visited ZeniMax Online Studios last week to play/learn more about The Elder Scrolls Online. Beginning this week, their impressions are making their way online.
At Destructoid, Chris Carter reports that the game’s plans for a fully-functioning first person mode looks “… extremely impressive, to the point where it looked like they were playing Oblivion and Skyrim at times.” In a separate article, Carter declares the game “a welcome hybrid of old and new school MMO mechanics” and shares the following thoughts on the game’s distinct Elder Scrolls feel:
“As the developers at Zenimax were showing off the game, you could tell that they really cared about the history of the Elder Scrolls franchise. It was clear after playing it for an extended period of time that there will be lots of lore here to uncover; perhaps more than any other Elder Scrolls game before it.”

As noted last week, we’ll be at hand at PAX East letting fans play The Elder Scrolls Online for the very first time. Additionally, we like to extend you an invite to the 347th Tamriel Beer Garden — taking place Saturday, March 23rd at the Castle Meeting Space in downtown Boston.
Running from 6:00 – 11:00 pm, we encourage fans of The Elder Scrolls to gather for themed food and drinks, music, merchants, cool giveaways, and more. And if you didn’t get your PAX tickets before the event sold out, the event will be your first chance to play The Elder Scrolls Online.

Today’s update to ElderScrollsOnline.com includes an ‘Ask Us Anything’ focusing on the game’s combat. Keyboard controls, soft targeting, and whether or not dedicated tanks and healers are required for an raids are discussed.
Below is but a sampling of the extensive Q&A:
In the introduction video you say that you can start with PvP at an early level. Will you be able to level up through PvP? – By Jan Schuh
Yes, currently you can start leveling via PvP in Cyrodiil at level 10.
Update: In addition to the panels listed below, Arkane Studios’ own Ricardo Bare will be participating in a panel titled “Narrative Design – telling stories without words” on Saturday, March 23rd from 8:00-9:00 pm in the Wyvern theater.
Kicking off this year’s convention season, The Elder Scrolls Online will be at PAX East (March 22-24) in Boston, Massachusetts. Visit us at the Bethesda booth to chat with members of the Dev Team, play The Elder Scrolls Online, and get your hands on some unique ESO items, including a free ourboros t-shirt and three purchasable Alliance t-shirts.
In addition, Matt Firor, Pete Hines, and I will be appearing on panels during the event.
‘Future of Online Games’ feat. Matt Firor – Friday, March 22nd from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Naga Theater
In a new wallpaper, Aldmeri Dominion forces attack a keep in Cyrodiil, knowing they must conquer the White-Gold tower for the good of all Tamriel. Their siege weaponry’s destructive power drives the enemy from even steadfast holds.
Exciting news for ESO fans. Later this month we will begin sending beta invites to folks that signed up for beta. To learn more about how the process will work, be sure to check out the FAQ available at ElderScrollsOnline.com.
Just before the weekend, the ESO Community Team posted the latest answers in their continuing “Ask Us Anything” series. Here’s but one of the questions they tackle:
The Blades have been a central part of the character’s main storyline in Elder Scrolls games. To what extent, if any, will The Blades be involved in ESO? – By Christian McAllen
At the time of ESO, remnants of the Akaviri Dragonguard who protected the Emperors are still around, but they have not yet re-formed into the secretive Blades of later eras.
Head here for the remaining answers, and be sure to check out more highlights on the official site:
The latest Developer Question of the Week (shown above), courtesy of Customer Support Trainer AJ LaSaracina, involves the game’s nine playable races. Watch it here.
The latest web update for ESO includes an introduction to High King Emeric, leader of the Daggerfall Covenant. Read on for the story of his upbringing, the breaking of the Siege of Wayrest, and his ascension to the throne, told in his own words. Below is a short excerpt:
King Ranser, alas, was wroth that I had not accepted the hand of his daughter, and he withdrew his ambassador from the court of Wayrest. Although Ranser was invited to my wedding to Maraya in the spring of 566, like the other kings of the Covenant, he stayed, seething, in Shornhelm.
What of the Aldmeri Dominion and Ebonheart Pact? In case you missed it, read tales of their respective leaders, Ayrenn and Jorunn the Skald-King.
