Recent Fan Art

VaultArmour9.jpg

It’s been awhile since the last time we highlighted some new fan art on the blog, so I thought I’d give some shout outs to a few of our regular contributors.

Above you’ll find one of two Brotherhood of Steel 3D models that Rob Overall recently contributed to our Fan Art page. Having spoke to Rob, it sounds like he’s recently had a lot of free time, and it shows in his work. To see his work in motion, you can check out some videos he’s made using these models over on YouTube.

Ali Tunç sent us another one of his fantastic Fallout-inspired concept drawings. This one, called “The Reactor’s Defender,” is probably one of my favorite submissions to date. As always, you can find Ali’s work on his website.

Lastly, not too long ago, we got several Elder Scrolls-inspired artwork from Maya. All of the art is impressive, but this one, entitled Demented, I find particularly hypnotizing. For more of Maya’s work, check out her page here.

As always, if you’re interested in having your art up on the blog, send your submissions to bethblog@bethsoft.com.

Morrowind Speed Run

I’ve been meaning to share this one for awhile. This YouTube video from Luke Harris shows him doing a speed run through Morrowind in about 14 minutes. On the video’s page, it sounds like there’s been some debate as to whether or not the video is legit or not. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, as I’ve seen some pretty impressive speed runs in the past (like this Fallout speed run in under 10 minutes).

Luke feel free to share how you did it in our comments section. As for everyone else, I challenge any of you to do it in a faster time :)

Stuff to check out over at Oblivion Files

For this week’s mod update for The Elder Scrolls, I thought I’d point out some of the featured mods currently up on FileFront’s site dedicated to Oblivion, the Oblivion Files.

The current “file of the week” is Trollf’s Hunter’s Performance Review (v1.1). While mentioned as being “a bit pointless in nature,” I couldn’t disagree more. Essentially, it provides a “kill count” for creatures killed by you, your companions, and the creatures killed by other NPCs and creatures while you were in the cell. The only downside to the mod is that at the time, it does not account for creatures that were created by modders. Still, I think the concept’s great.

Precioussss Armor

When checking personal messages from within our forums, I know I’m in for a treat when one of our members, Gizmo, sends me a link to a video, article, etc. This week was no exception as he sent me a link to a pretty cool armor mod in Oblivion that recreates of the look of Sauron — the famed Dark Lord from Lord of the Rings. The armor mod appears to have been created by You Tube member cultbrain. If you ask me, I think he nailed the look. Maybe he’s the same guy that created this armor for a fantasy festival.

Impressive…most impressive (oops, wrong trilogy).

Mod Interview: Korana

Cheryl_Pirate_4.jpg

Yarrrr, for this week’s mod interview, we’re chatting with Korana of the BGS forums. Korana, whose real name is Cheryl, lives a pretty exciting life. She recently got engaged, sells booze for a living, and as a resident of Idaho has somehow never seen potatoes grow. Oh yeah, and she’s got a birthday coming up in a few weeks. Congrats on a quarter century of excellence!

As for modding, Korana had done a wide variety of stuff for the Elder Scrolls…just take a gander at her website.

On with the show…

Around the web…

1989_the_world_wide.jpg

Thought I’d point out a couple of interesting tidbits I’ve noticed across the web this week…

Over on Voodoo Extreme, there’s a fan poll titled, “Most Wanted 2008 PC Games.” There’s a lot of good choices to vote for. Currently, Fallout 3 is receiving the second most votes behind Blizzard’s hugely-anticipated Starcraft 2.

This week in Elder Scrolls modding

lichqueen.jpg

Welcome to another mod update for The Elder Scrolls. Just thought I’d point out some interesting mods that I saw while looking through some fansites over the past few days…

For Morrowind, those of you who can’t get enough of fighting pesky skeletons might want to give Wildman’s Skeleterra mod a try. This mod adds a new dungeon featuring several new skeleton creatures including a Lich Queen (see image above) and a Skeleton Spearme. To use this download, make sure you have both the Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansions installed.

Lutemoth mod interview

This week’s Elder Scrolls mod interview is with William DeJeu, otherwise known as Lutemoth. Since joining the Elder Scrolls community, he’s become known for his conceptual drawings working with the Tamriel Rebuilt mod team. William, who lives in the Vancouver area, is a Scorpio, enjoys long walks on the beach, and his favorite color is transparent.

Let’s get to know Lutemoth a little better….

Elder Scrolls Mod Interview: Princess Stomper

rabbit.jpg

For this week’s mod interview, we’re talking with Princess Stomper. If you’ve been around the BGS or Oblivion Real Estate forums, at the very least, you’ll probably recognize her as being the one that always has a bunny avatar. For several years now, Princess Stomper has been quite involved with the modding communities for both Morrowind and Oblivion…so we thought it was time to ask her a few questions.

When I see the rabbit on Princess Stomper’s avatar growl, I think of the movie Night of the Lepus and all those attacking rabbits. Maybe that’s Stomper on a bad day??
