MI6, an annual conference for videogame marketing, held their awards show last night. With Pete on hand, Fallout 3 captured 13 awards — including nine Gold & Silver Awards in the following categories:
- Outstanding Promotional Trailer: Fallout 3 Teaser Trailer
- Best Limited Edition or Collector’s Promotion: Fallout 3 Collector’s Edition
- Standout Print Campaign: Fallout 3 DC Metro Takeover
- Best Online Advertising Campaign: Fallout 3 Online Advertising Campaign
- Sharpest Pen Award — Best Copywriting/Print: Fallout 3 Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide
- Sharpest Eye Award — Best Directing: Fallout 3 “E3 Trailer”
- Best Use of Music: Fallout 3 “E3 Trailer”
- Outstanding Overall Marketing Campaign: Fallout 3
- Outstanding Promotional Trailer: Fallout 3 “E3 Trailer”
Huge shout out to Pete and the rest of the marketing team, AKQA, The Ant Farm, Tangible Media, the developers, and everyone else that helped these ideas come to fruition.

Moving on to other news, nominees for the ELAN Awards have been announced with Fallout 3 receiving nods in the following categories: Videogame of the Year, Best Console Game, Best PC Game, Best Sound in a Videogame Production, Best Art Direction, Best Game Design, and Outstanding Technical Direction.
At PSDTUTS, both Fallout 3 and Oblivion were included in a list of the Top 40 Video Game Covers of All Time.
Finally, Canadian site Game Focus has a new interview with Pete that went up today. Here’s a snippet:
What mistakes and triumphs did Bethesda learned from Oblivion that helped you with Fallout 3?
A lot of it was learning about the big, open-ended experience. What kinds of things did people like or not like? How do we do that better, and different, in the Fallout universe. Technically we learned a lot about how to make the game run better on all these platforms, but much of it comes from the player experience and what they can do, and see, from moment to moment. I’m sure we’ll learn a lot from Fallout 3 we can put into our next project.

We begin with news on The Pitt. On Friday, you’ll have your first chance to see The Pitt trailer on Gametrailers TV. The show airs Friday night at 1am (or technically, 1am Saturday morning) on Spike. I hope that’s not too confusing — especially with Daylight Savings last week.

Hold onto your pants, kids! You can find the trailer at the official Fallout 3 website, complete with download mirrors. Download and watch the entire Fallout 3 Official Trailer — part of which was shown at the Microsoft press briefing earlier today.
Don’t forget that Todd Howard will be on G4′s Xplay E3 Special tonight, starting 7 PM, EST, with more gameplay from Fallout 3.
A short teaser to the Fallout 3 Official Trailer debuted on Gametrailers TV this weekend. We’re all big fans of Gametrailers TV. I prefer to watch it online in full HD glory since Spike doesn’t come in HD for me. Stay tuned, I got more blog posts for you today.
E3 kicks off next week, but if you want a first look at the new trailer for Fallout 3, be sure to throw back a few energy drinks so you can stay up until 1AM on Saturday morning to watch GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley: E3 Preview on Spike TV. During the broadcast, they’ll be showing a glimpse of a never-before-seen Fallout 3 trailer that’ll be shown during E3 next week.
As some of you might recall, back in 2005, we published Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, a 1st-person/survival-horror title is based on the works by horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. Today, while checking out Quiet Earth, a good site “dedicated to genre film and everything post apocalyptic,” I came across a trailer for a new film based on Lovecraft’s work, appropriately titled “Cthulhu.”
Investigating on IMDb, it doesn’t look like this movie is expected to get a wide-release, and from what I can tell, it wass only shown on the film festival circuit last year. I considered sharing the trailer on the blog, but I thought it was a little much. I mean, it’s pretty disturbing…not to mention there’s a little too much Tori Spelling action going on in it.

On June 5th — three months ago today — fans may recall seeing the above image on our website – that is, when our servers weren’t crashing in anticipation of the teaser trailer.
Well, everyone’s seen the above trailer now, or so it seems. Today I got word that the trailer has been viewed more than 2 million times off our website (over 1.8 million downloads) and through Xbox Live (over 250K downloads). That doesn’t include YouTube views or downloads off of all the other sites that hosted the trailer.
To put it in context, in the first five months that we hosted the Oblivion teaser trailer, 800,000 views took place. So the Fallout 3 trailer has been viewed more than twice as many times in about half the time. Impressive…most impressive.
