Today a press release went out announcing the scheduled events for QuakeCon 2009 — set to begin on Thursday, August 13th (that’s next week!).
Those able to get to the Gaylord Texan Hotel on Thursday will have a chance to see id Software’s John Carmack deliver QuakeCon’s keynote address. Meanwhile, Bethesda Game Studios’ fans will be excited to know that on Friday, Todd Howard will talk about our process for making games like Oblivion and Fallout 3. Following the presentation, there will even be a Q&A. Also on Friday, Splash Damage’s CEO and game director, Paul Wedgwood, will deliver the first public demo of Brink. Meanwhile, folks will be able to see id Software’s Rage in action for the first time on Saturday.

Time to make the donuts for another update…
Wanted to let you guys know that tomorrow night at 6pm EST, X-Play is hosting their G-Phoria special – an awards show on G4TV where the awards are voted on by the fans (YOU!). Tune in to see if Fallout 3 (or any of your other favorite games) take home an award.
“I didn’t have too much trouble capping the guys, until I managed to acquire a ghoul mask, which allowed me to pass among them and observe their empty lives like a zombie Jane Goodall. Kind of left me wishing I hadn’t spent the first half of the game pinning their heads to the walls with railway spikes. I got over it, though. Go cry, emo zombie.”
Moving right along — with Mothership Zeta’s release this week, reviews are beginning to show up online. Here’s an excerpt from G4TV’s review:
“As a combat mission, “Mothership Zeta” is excellent. It’s fast paced, full of enemies, and great for loading up on XP. I finally hit level 30 about two-thirds of the way through. You won’t just be fighting aliens — abducted ghouls and raiders can also be found in certain sections of the ship.”
More reviews can be found at GameFocus, Gamervision, Examiner.com, and AtomicGamer.
Wrapping up this “Around the Web,” I thought I’d share some id Software news. First, at TeamXbox, you can find plenty of new details on the multiplayer component for Wolfenstein — due out this month on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Meanwhile, the Twitter page for RAGE has announced there will be a video blog for the game — and it will start during QuakeCon next week. Head here to submit your questions.
The teaser site for id Software’s RAGE, aftertheimpact.com, has been updated several times since we last reported on it. Check out the latest, and if you have the latest issue of Game Informer, there’s a hint on how to access more content on the site (you can also find hints on RAGE’s Twitter page).
The August issue of Game Informer has been revealed — featuring world exclusive information on id Software‘s latest title, RAGE. Check out the magazine for gameplay details, concept art, and new screenshots.
In addition to the Game Informer story, RAGE’s teaser site, aftertheimpact.com, is now live. According to twitter.com/RAGEGAME, you’ll want to keep an eye on the site all week.
