This week’s mod interview is with Keter_Sephiroth, an Oblivion modder that specializes in animation mods. Sephiroth (obviously a fan of Final Fantasy) lives in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and spends a fair amount of his free time studing martial arts, philosophy, esotericism, psychology, and life ethics.

Keter_Sephiroth also has a keen interest in machinima and making game trailers. At the end of the interview, you can see a sample of his work, as he also responded to the interview via game video. Check it out!

What LEGO Elder Scrolls could look like…

001_oblivion_gate.jpg

Way back in September, we shared a link to some LEGO sets that were reminiscent of Fallout. This week, Senior Designer Kurt Kuhlmann pointed me to a thread in our forums where folks are discussing an Oblivion-inspired project using LEGOs. The project was created more than a year ago, but for those who haven’t seen it, it’s worth checking out. If you ask me, the creator did a fantastic job re-creating Oblivion.

To check out more information on the project, head to the creator’s website here.

Mod Interview: Shezrie

This week we’re chatting with Sherri-Lyn (aka Shezrie) from Oblivion’s Real Estate . Shezrie lives in beautiful Bermuda, where she works in legal administration and management. When she’s not working or modding she spends her time working out, belly dancing, poi or staff fire dancing, fencing and riding her motorbike all over the island.

Sounds like quite the adventurous life!

Around the Web and on newsstands

Yesterday there was quite a bit of new Fallout 3 coverage, but previews are still popping up in a few places. At GameTap, Thierry Nguyen shares the “Seven things you need to know about this post-nuclear wasteland.” Here’s a snippet:

“Watch out, for there are creatures like radscorpions and deathclaws about. Beyond those, there are quite a few supermutants–slobbering freaks that wander around and kill people for the heck of it. There’s also the supermutant behemoth, a gargantuan mutant that runs around swinging a lamp post as a club. Ghouls also make a return from previous games, but now there are three different types: ones that can still think and talk (like Harold from previous titles), feral ghouls that simply act on an instinct to kill or eat you, and “glowing ones.” The last type is heavily irradiated to the point that their presence can make you sick and heal any other ghoul nearby.”

New Fallout 3 previews today

roadwalk.jpg

This week Pete’s been pretty busy showing Fallout 3 to some of the gaming press over on the west coast. Beginning this morning, many of these sites are starting to share their impressions.

Here’s where I’ve spotted previews thus far:

Whew, I’ve got plenty of reading to get through. As more previews come out, we’ll let you know.

Ready to Rumble: Devs prepare for the BGS Community

tf10.jpg

It’s been about six months since the Orange Box was released, but our Team Fortress 2 experts still can’t get enough. Over the last few months, they’ve put their skills on the line against some pretty heavy hitters — including Bioware (win), EA Mythic (win), Ubisoft (loss), and the Shacknews community (loss). But tonight, they’ll take one of their greatest opponents yet: a dozen members from our very own BGS forums.

It should be interesting to see how it goes. Will it be a cordial matchup with an attitude similar to our Meet the Devs thread? Will things get ugly? We’ll find out when they meet at 7PM. If you’re not participating in the event, it sounds like there will likely be YouTube footage in the near future, and there’s sure to be some post game chat here in the forums.

Good luck to both sides!
