Friday Fan Art: Constructed Whaler?

There’s certainly no “free Willy” in  TheWhaleOilKing’s perfectly constructed Lego Whaling Trawler above. From plastic to painting, we show off some of this week’s incredible artwork spanning multiple titles including Fallout New Vegas, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and more Dishonored. Then we have some cosplay coming from DeviantArt and San Diego Comic Con.

Check out the album below to see what talent we’ve found inspiring. We dont’ want to stop now! Send us your work (whatever it may be*) by emailing bethblog@bethsoft.com, or by social media (#BethesdArt).

*By “whatever it may be” we mean nothing graphic. Keep it SFW.

ESO — Update 3 is Live!

Update 3 has arrived on the live servers today, bringing more customization, mercantile opportunities, and fixes to The Elder Scrolls Online. Highlights include:

The dye system is here, giving you the chance to add a personal touch to your armor. New dyes are earned by completing achievements, and dyes for those you’ve already finished will already be unlocked for you. Dyeing your armor is as simple as approaching a dye station and selecting your favorite color scheme. We can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Guilds have good reasons to be excited about the update, too. Guild leaders can now create custom guild ranks and design their own guild tabard. There are tons of icons, colors, and tabard shapes available, so pick your favorites and put your guild’s identity on display. There’s more: guild stores can now be found throughout Tamriel. On a weekly basis, your guild can bid on one of these locations. If you win, your guild’s store will be available to the public, and you’ll make some gold from the sales!

As always, plenty of fixes and improvements are packed in along with the new features. To get all the details, read the full patch notes.

On The Storefront: Nocturnal Guardian

Representing the most elite of thieves, Gaming Heads brings us the Nightingale statue. Celebrate your allegiance to the Daedric Prince, Nocturnal and the Thieves Guild by garnishing your collection. The Nightingale stands at an impressive 16 inches tall and is available in a numbered standard edition or a limited exclusive edition that comes with an illuminated base that reflects a water current underneath his feet.

The standard edition is available conveniently at store.bethsoft.com and gamingheads.com. Limited to 500 pieces, the exclusive edition is available only at gamingheads.com. Get one before they disappear into the shadows.

Bethesda TwitchWorks: ESO What Do We Do?

Now for something a little easier (hopefully?) than Wolfenstein: The New Order’s Ironman Mode. Join us in taking an exciting and foreign trip to the MMO world of The Elder Scrolls Online.

Admittedly, Gstaff and I aren’t MMO experts, so what better way to trial and error than with your help? We are open to suggestions about every aspect of the path our character will take including race, gender, play style… well, you get the idea.

In addition to our Tamriel venture, we will be featuring developer commentary from Jens Matthies and Jerk Gustafsson during their playthrough of their game, Wolfenstein: The New Order. Get inside knowledge from the mouths of the devs themselves as they play Chapter 1 (and much more successfully than we did last time).

During the stream, we will give you a few opportunities to win some cool things including a signed PlayStation 4 copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order. Tune in to Twitch.tv/Bethesda this Friday at 4pm EDT to make sure you don’t miss all the fun!

‘The Evil Within’ Your Game Case – You Decide!

The first time everyone in a group laid eyes on the cover for The Evil Within, we were pretty sure we nailed it. The cover encapsulates the peril you’ll experience playing the game.

But is it for everyone? From our days of following social media and sites like NeoGaf — we know you like your alternate cover options, too — because the other country usually has the better cover. So as to make sure everyone has a say, we’re presenting three alternate cover options — one of which will be the reverse sleeve for the launch edition of The Evil Within.

Below are three options. Be sure to vote for your pick on the Bethesda Blog poll on the right-hand side, and if you email your choice to bethblog@bethsoft.com, you’ll have a chance to win one of 10 signed copies of The Evil Within (when the game ships, of course). For contest rules, click here.

ESO Update – European Megaserver Migration & More

We’re preparing to make the move to our new datacenter! Get the details and answers to your questions here.

We know many of you have been looking forward to the migration, and we’re ready to share the specifics. The European megaserver migration will begin at 8:00AM EDT (1:00PM BST) on July 29th, and we anticipate that the process will be complete by 5:00PM EDT (10:00PM BST). During the migration, the European megaserver will be unavailable, but the North American megaserver, account site, and forums will not be affected.

If you have questions about the process, we’ve got you covered. Here are a few common ones. If you don’t see your question here, make sure to check out our knowledge base.

Mega!

Will anything change for me when the migration is complete?

Nope! All your characters will be just the way you left them before the move. There won’t be a patch to download, either.

The migration seems to be during European primetime. Why is that?

Moving everything over to our new datacenter is a complex operation involving a large number of our engineers and support staff in Europe and North America. It’s important to us that everyone we need for the process is awake, ready, and available. This will help us make the transition as smooth as possible.

I’m European, but created characters on the North American megaserver. Can I move them to the new European megaserver?

No. The migration will only affect characters that already exist on the European megaserver, and no transfers are available right now.

We’re looking forward to the move and are doing everything we can to make sure your characters arrive safely in the Frankfurt database. See you there!

Weekend Update: QuakeCon Wrap

For anyone that loves playing games, QuakeCon should be on your bucket list. From thousands of fans “whoop-ing” and playing games in BYOC to special events like this year’s DOOM reveal, it’s memorable each and every year. It’s also the most acceptable venue in the world for BAWLS chugging contests.

With 2014 being Bethesda’s 6th year helping with the show, we’ve put together some of our favorite pictures and videos from the event. For more, be sure to check out the event’s official YouTube channel, Flickr page, and the amazing community forums up at QConForums.com.

And they’re not the only ones talking about this year’s show. On top of coverage of the DOOM reveal, we recommend checking out these QuakeCon features…

To all those that attended — from our BYOC attendees to a volunteer staff that could run a country — thanks for making QuakeCon so memorable. As much important as the games are to the event, it’s the people that make the event so special.

See you next year in Dallas for the 20th QuakeCon!

After the break, catch our 2014 QuakeCon video highlights…
