Relationships are forged on couches in the world of The Evil Within.
Knowing this, the team at Tango Gameworks made their next assignment one that focused on the life saving (or at least game saving) bond between Juli Kidman and Black Cat from the game’s first DLC.
Speaking on the project, lead concept artist Ikumi Nakamura:
“We could never have anticipated such a strong reaction to Juli Kidman and the black cat from The Assignment. So much was the outpouring of love that we took the only logical step forward from the world of Survival Horror: creating a whimsical animated feature around these two characters in The Evil Within: Into the Light!”

Yar really going to like our newest modding interview. This week we talk to BigBizkit, responsible for the popular Pirates of Skyrim mod.
What you do for a living?
What pirate fiction would you say most influenced your project?
Well, it is not so much fiction per se but I really like to think of the golden age of exploration as a source of inspiration. The times when people would set sail not just to get to places, but to actually go out and look for places and routes that have not been discovered yet (by Europeans). The times when seafaring nations like the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain used to be world powers because of their naval prowess. Other than that, there is also this series of blockbuster movies… there are currently four and a fifth one is in the making. I will not say anything about the quality of the movies, but they surely did have an impact on how pirates are viewed. As for games, a great source of inspiration is and has always been the eternal classic “Monkey Island” especially the first and second part. Oh, and there is also this fairly recent game with “black flag” in the title… you’ve probably never heard of it.
If you’ve already completed part 1 of Juli Kidman’s adventure and are dying to know what happens next, and we’re happy to inform you won’t have to wait long to see her story through.
The Consequence will release on Tuesday, April 21st on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC (Note: European PlayStation players will be able to download on Wednesday, April 22nd).
Since it’s only been a couple weeks since The Assignment released, we don’t want to spoil too much of what’s happening next — there would assuredly be consequences for that. Instead, we’ve created a brief teaser of the madness Kidman will soon encounter.
For more on The Evil Within’s DLC, keep your eyes peeled for updates as we creep nearer to April 21st. You can find out more on The Evil Within and it’s DLC by visiting theevilwithin.com or by visiting Facebook, or following @theevilwithin on Twitter & Instagram.

Last weekend hosted the very first live edition of Gamespot’s Top 5 Skyrim Mods of the Week show. Over 100 fans came from far and wide to pack out London’s Loading bar – one US resident even crossing the Atlantic to be at the special show – where they were treated to an evening of Skyrum (heh!) cocktails, sweetrolls, prizes and, of course, plenty of new Skyrim mods.
Regular hosts Cam and Seb, along with special guest companion Dovahbear, kept the crowd entertained with a predictably madcap mix of cheese-based Dragon Shouts and giant, exploding chickens, but mostly it was a great chance for members of the community to meet up, enjoy the game and quiz the hosts on how the show is made.
TGIF! With the weekend here, it’s a great opportunity to turn down the lights and stay up late to play part 1 of Juli Kidman’s two-part adventure — The Assignment — available through Steam, Xbox Live, and PSN.
Focusing heavily on stealth tactics, the DLC is already receiving praise from reviewers. Scoring it an 8.5/10, IGN had the following to say:
“I spent a lot of the time running blindly with my heart thumping, hoping a distracted enemy wasn’t now in pursuit, or yelling in triumph after locking one in a room. Without a weapon, the tension builds quickly.”
You can get more from IGN in a their review commentary video feature (note: there are spoilers). For more opinions, we’ll be adding reviews as they come in below.
Videogamer.com (8/10) — “…The Assignment is a reasonably-sized add-on which fleshes out The Evil Within’s story while building on what made it so enjoyable in the first place.”
We Got This Covered (4/5) – “… it was an intense burst of fear that retroactively makes The Evil Within a more complete experience while also standing on its own as an exciting step in a different direction for the series.”
Crave Online — (8/10) — “For fans of The Evil Within, The Assignment stands out as a key component to understanding its complex story. For everyone, it offers an entirely new way to enjoy the universe.”
Bloody Disgusting (8.5/10) – “The Assignment takes the best aspects of The Evil Within — namely the stealth, unsettling enemies and the strategy that’s required in combat — and successfully builds a bite-sized adventure around it that never outstays its welcome.”
Digital Chumps (8.8/10) – “I loved the strategy and intensity of playing purely stealth more than I did the combat in the original game.”
