We’ve just put out a press release announcing the release dates for Fallout 3. Here in North America, the game will be available in stores and online on Tuesday, October 28. The game will be available in European territories on Friday, October 31, 2008. Fallout 3 is being released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Games for Windows.
Fallout fan Rob Schuster sent me an email sharing his experience getting a Fallout tattoo. Above is the final product. According to Rob, he just felt it was time to “honor the greatest game series of all-time.” The tattoo was inked by Tommy Partin at Designs by Dana (Cincinnati, Ohio). As you can see, the tattoo is quite large, measuring in at 4 1/2″ by 5″.

For the past few weeks, we’ve shared Game Trailers’ Bonus Round series entitled “Music in Gaming,” which features Fallout 3 composer Inon Zur. Yesterday, the final segment went live on Game Trailers. This time around, Inon discusses some of the music projects he’d like to see in future games, and how various genres of music are being revived by music — including classical music. If you missed any of the episodes, you can check them out here.
As Kotaku reader Kain The Undead recently discovered, pre-ordering Fallout 3 at Best Buy will score you one of these Nuka-Cola magnetic bottle openers. In addition to the bottle opener, you’ll also get a coupon to save $5 on the Fallout 3 Strategy Guide. You can pre-order online (look for bottle opener “Special Offer”), or simply visit your local Best Buy store.
In recent memory, I can’t think a 1-month period that had a greater number of awesome downloadable releases. If you look at the list below, almost everyone is playing something from STEAM, Xbox Live, PSN, and even WiiWare (the new Strong Bad Game).
Here’s the list of games we’re playing this weekend:
Brent Krische: Braid, Patapon, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 1.
Matt Grandstaff, Community Manager: NCAA 2009, PixelJunk Eden, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Siren: Blood Curse, and trying to keep my high scores in Geometry Wars 2.
Orin Tresnjak, Graphics Programmer: Planning a D&D game. Painting some Warhammer figs. Beating Matt’s high scores in Geometry Wars 2. Continue reading full article ›
This week’s mod interview is with Micky Lundell, better known as Buddah within the BSG forums. Buddah lives in the small town of Weber, Minnesota. There he works for Qwest Communications, where his job responsibilities relate to POTS (plain old telephone service) and PANS (pretty amazing new stuff).
Buddah is a long-standing fan of The Elder Scrolls series, who has taken it upon himself to maintain an extensive collection of Elder Scrolls mods. After learning this, I imagined his computer as the storage area where the Ark of the Covenant goes at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Of course, that would mean he’d never be able to find any of the stuff that he stores, so I guess my analogy fails…
