Even though it was far less chaotic and stressful than previous years, it’s still good to have E3 wrapped up and behind us. Overall, the show went about as well as we could have hoped. The theater was absolutely packed on the last day of the show. I won’t even give a number for the last demo of the show in case any fire marshals are lurking about.
I hope they make the logistics a little easier for the press to get around. The major complaints I heard from them were about getting from place to place, and the fact that everyone has a news conference and all of them are completely pointless and should be done away with. Other random thoughts and observations from the trip:

Back at the office, the folks that headed out to Santa Monica are filing back in today (nope, Todd didn’t get lost at baggage claim). I’ll see about getting some wrap-up impressions from those who were there.

From the what I’ve read, seems like most everyone was impressed with the game, which is great. Also, I’ll need to talk more with Pete and Co. when they get back, but from what I’m hearing the new look of E3 was a success.
Last night I saw on Major Nelson’s blog that The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is now (finally) backwards compatible with the Xbox 360. I’m not only excited for the many fans that have contacted me about this (Pete figures he’s gotten about 5,000 e-mails on this in the last two years), but now finally I get a chance to get back into the game myself.
I just did a test on a retail 360 at the office (which was more of a scavenger hunt then I expected), and I confirm that after an Xbox Live update, you can play Morrowind, whether it’s the original release, Platinum Hits, or the Game of the Year Edition. For those without Xbox Live, there’s still ways to get the necessary update. Check here for more details.

Over the last few weeks, Christian of CCRE over on Planet Elder Scrolls has been working on this cool Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time-inspired mod for Oblivion. From the look of the screenshots, I think he pretty much nailed the look of the Master Sword and Hylian Shield from the game (a game that nearly cost me a failing grade my freshman year of college).
So now that we have The Ocarina Oblivion of Time. Does make me want to play some Zelda, or maybe just practice my Ocarina playing like this guy.
Caught this on G4′s website earlier today. Todd answers some Fallout 3 related questions from gaming goddess Morgan Webb. Pete said Morgan kicked off her very high heels before the interview so she wouldn’t be so much taller than Todd during the interview, so she’s apparently as nice/thoughtful as she is attractive. Good job, Todd, and thank you Morgan for not dwarfing our hobbit….
Now that coverage of Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony’s press conferences are out there, I’m starting to see E3 coverage of Fallout 3 surfacing (I imagine there will be plenty to update in the next few days).
So we’ve got one full day of the show under our belts. The demos went well yesterday and we really had a packed room the last showing of the demo as we caught up with people who couldn’t get back in time from the Sony press conference. First demo is ongoing as we type and, despite some rather, shall we say, ‘tired’ people walking around the hotel today (Gatorade is quite the popular beverage this morning), everyone made it and it’s completely packed in there . Every demo today is going to be way, way full (unlike the image below taken while out of session).
Party last night seemed like it was a big hit. Love the Saddle Ranch and the people that run that place. All they really care about is that you have fun, which everyone definitely seemed to be having right up until the point where they had to push quite a few of us out the door at closing.
Within our Modding Forum for Star Trek: Legacy, I came across a new mod that’s showcased over on ModDb.com. Created by one of our forum members, tjoz, it’s described as a hybrid mod serving two purposes – to help other fans learn about how to mod Legacy, and also to help create a unique gameplay experience each time you play the game. Here’s a few more details:
“The tutorial half of the game has been designed to offer up and coming modders the info and encouragement they need to set out on their own mod. Whether they wish to create new game modes or add to the growing list of Historical battles they could create; the know how is there for them to go about and create their own gaming experience.
The mod half, with enhanced AI, challenging scenarios and much more push the foundations of Legacy to make it a different experience each time you play. With many new maps each with their own perils and wonders will see the Legacy engine in a different light. The re-designed interface that carries through every menu throughout the game is to provide a change of scenery to the generic look of the old stock look.”
