Weekend Update: Brink

In the previous update that just went up, you might have noticed one game missing… BRINK!

With just over a week until its release, GamersPortal.com is having a community roundtable for the game tomorrow at 7 PM EST. Visit their blog for more details.

Beyond that, get the latest on Brink at these sites:

  • USA Today – “Five Things You Didn’t Know About Brink”
  • GamaSutra – “A Missive From the End of Genre: How Brink Works”
  • VGRevolution – interview with Splash Damage Community Relations Manager Steve ‘badman” Hessel
  • Edge – Audio Director Chris Sweetman sounds off on game audio

  • IGN - interview with Chris Sweetman
  • PS3 Trophies (or Xbox 360 Achievements) – interview with Lead Designer Neil Alphonso

Weekend Update: RAGE, Skyrim, Hunted, and Prey 2

While our BFG event was more than two weeks ago, there’s plenty of new coverage to share for RAGE, Skyrim, Prey 2, and Hunted.

Don’t miss last Friday’s GTTV episode, which featured a new Skyrim interview with Todd Howard, as well as a first look at RAGE’s Subway Town. Catch both segments at GameTrailers.com.

If podcasts are your thing, Giant Bomb has 40 minutes of discussion on Skyrim, RAGE, and Prey 2. While I highly recommend the entire podcast, the BFG coverage starts just before the 50-minute mark. Elsewhere, Shacknews’ Garnett Lee shares his Skyrim impressions in episode 57 of Weekend Confirmed (scan ahead to the 33:25 mark of the podcast), and also divulges on why he’s so excited for RAGE in episode 58. Head to iTunes to download all three podcasts.

Where will I be able to get the Brink Standalone Dedicated Server?
The Brink Standalone Dedicated Server will be available for download via Steam prior to release. Once the server is available, you can simply browse to the Tools tab in your Steam client and grab it from there.

The Bethesda Game Studios Interviews: Jeff Lundin

With a new project coming out this year, we’d like to kick off another round of Q&A’s with Bethesda Game Studios developers. Today, meet Jeff Lundin, one of our systems programmers.

What is your job at BGS?

I am responsible for creating and maintaining Skyrim’s brand new scripting language. This usually involves not only creating new language features and functions, but also writing up a metric ton of wiki documentation, various external tools (which includes a full-blown compiler), editor additions, and on-the-spot support for other coders, designers and artists working with the new system.
